Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Resthaven Cemetery at Quitaque. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Cushenberry was born in Quitaque and had lived in Amarillo 42 years. He was billing coordinator for Pioneer Natural Gas and Energas, retiring in 1992. He was a past member of the Army Reserve and a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He married Betty Sue Tucker in 1983 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Cy Layne Cushenberry of Alpine and Steven Lloyd Moore of Eureka, Calif.; and a granddaughter. The family will be at 6534 Garwood Road. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 C.W. Ott C.W. "Tinker" Ott, 70, of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Phil Mercado, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church, officiating. His body has been donated to Texas Tech Medical School. Mr. Ott was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. He was a veteran of Navy. He retired as a mail clerk from the U.S. Post Office. He then worked as a mail clerk for Amarillo National Bank. He was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Amy Ott Clevenger of Amarillo and Angela Ott Kernele of Logan, Okla.; a son, Johnny Ott of Amarillo; a sister, Mildred Ott McDonald of Amarillo; a brother, M.L. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 Denney Plumlee Denney Plumlee, 77, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Plumlee was raised in Amarillo where he graduated from Amarillo High School. He attended Amarillo College. After serving in the Army, he moved to California in 1944 where he owned and operated a printing company. When Mr. Plumlee moved to Hollywood, he wrote a column printed in the Amarillo Globe-News called "A Texan in Hollywood." In 1991, he retired and returned to Amarillo. Survivors include a niece, Denise House; a nephew, Larry A. McKnight of Cascade, Colo.; and a brother-in-law, Larry McKnight of Amarillo. Mr. Burns was born in Detroit and moved to Amarillo in 1968. He was employed by Culligan. In 1994, he moved to Clarendon where he was a member of the United Methodist Church. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 Oklahoma Edna Lucille Quesenbury HARDESTY, Okla. - Edna Lucille Martin Quesenbury, 82, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Apostolic Faith Church with the Rev. Ron Brening and the Rev. Jack Cornell officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery at Guymon by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Quesenbury was born in Hardesty and graduated from Hardesty High School in 1940. She lived in Guymon for two years before moving east of Hardesty and then to Hardesty in 1952. She was a member and Sunday school teacher of Apostolic Faith Church. She married Hollis Quesenbury in 1946 at Guymon. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Carolyn Lively of Woodward, Barbara Crouse of Derby, Kan., and Glowanda Walker of Perryton, Texas; four sisters, Nellie Stump of Dumas, Texas, Maxine Smart of Hardesty, Louise Bennett of Guymon and Burneatha Jackson of Balko; a brother, Edsel Martin of Hardesty; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 Elsewhere Robert G. Sanders LUBBOCK - Robert G. Sanders, 72, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Alan Korinck officiating. Mr. Sanders was born in St. Louis and moved to Little Rock, Ark., as a child. He graduated from Central High School in Little Rock and the University of Arkansas. He served in the Navy on the USS Oklahoma City and USS Shangrila. Mr. Sanders moved to Lubbock in 1958 and worked in outside sales in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He married Gladys "Phil" Sanders in 1952. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brenda Sanders of Flint, Mich., and Donna Childers of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 Mark Alexander LUBBOCK - Mark Alexander, 38, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Westmont Christian Church with the Rev. Mr. Alexander was born in Amarillo and graduated from Lubbock's Coronado High School in 1980. From 1987 until 1992, he lived in Brownfield where he was a printer. He also served as an officer with the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce and Parent-Teacher Associations, the Brownfield Red Coats, Rotary Club and Girl Scouts. In 1992, he returned to Lubbock, working in the restaurant equipment and scale service industry as a repair technician. He was a Web designer and involved with the Boy Scouts. He married Kay Harris in 1980 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Misty Waits of Lubbock; a son, Chris Alexander of Lubbock; his mother and stepfather, Dot and A.J. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnnie Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Hutchens was born in Portales and was a lifetime resident of Quay County and Tucumcari. He was head mechanic at Big Country Ford. He was a member and past exalted ruler of Tucumcari BPO Elks Lodge No. 1172. Mr. Hutchens was a charter member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol Troop No. 21. He served on the Tucumcari Crime Stoppers Board and was on the Technical Advisory Board at Mesa Technical College in Tucumcari. Survivors include his wife, Candis; a son, Kevin Hutchens of Las Lunas; three daughters, Helane Brenner of Albuquerque, Donna Bonds of Lovington and Adelta Abbey of Tucumcari; a brother, Merle Hutchens of Albuquerque; two sisters, Wanda Evans and Evelyn Massey, both of Tucumcari; and 10 grandchildren. Mr. Courtney was born in Caney, Kan., and had lived in Dumas for 35 years. He served in Europe with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an electrician for Panhandle Eastern and a member of First Christian Church. He married Helen Jean Martin in 1949 at Coffeyville, Kan. Survivors include his wife of Amarillo; and a son, Phil Courtney of Redlands, Calif. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 Lynn Dale Atchison QUANAH - Lynn Dale "Red" Atchison, 69, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Reed-Farris officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Atchison was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Eldorado, Okla. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He had worked for Barker Construction in Quanah. In 1976, Mr. Atchison moved to Houston, where he worked in highway construction. He returned to Quanah after his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Peggy Barker in 1953 at Crowell. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Atchison of Houston; two daughters, Donna Wright and Julie Atchison Ruffino, both of Houston; and six grandchildren. Mr. Leonard was born in Griggs, Okla., and had been a Dumas resident for 34 years. He retired from maintenance at the Swift beef packing plant. He married Laura Mae Stump in 1940 at Liberal, Kan. He was preceded in death by two sons, William Lawrence "Billy" Leonard and Samuel Thomas "Buddy" Leonard. Survivors include his wife; eight sons, Richard Loyd Leonard of Dumas, Gary Lee Leonard of Waco, David Wayne Leonard of Terrell, Kenneth Ray Leonard and Michael Rex Leonard, both of Amarillo, Danny Joe Leonard of Clarksville, Tenn., Marlin Earl Leonard of Lexington, Ky., and Terry Dean Leonard of Granite Falls, Wash.; five daughters, Carolyn Sue Roach and Mary Leonard, both of Corpus Christi, Judy Mae Larner and Sharon Kay Ehli, both of Dumas, and Patricia Ann Brown of Garland; 30 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, March 2, 2000 Rowland Bruce CHILDRESS - Rowland Bruce, 94, of Grapevine, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alan Egerton of Bible Baptist Church of Childress officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Mr. Bruce was born in Ely. His first job in Childress was laying brick on Highway 287. In 1926, he worked for Fort Worth Denver Railroad, retiring in 1961 as manager of the paint department. Mr. Bruce was a member of AFLCIO-CLU-Lodge 6005 and Bible Baptist Church of Childress. After his retirement, he and his wife owned Deluxe Trailer Park. He also worked at Sager Motors and drove a school bus. He was preceded in death by three wives, Minnie Cooke Wygal Bruce, Pearl Kinman Bruce and Ruth Kinman Hogan, and an infant son; a daughter, Billie McClelland; and a stepson, Mickey Wygal. Survivors include two sons, Roland Bruce of Houston and Bobby Bruce of Maryland; two daughters, Nita Curtis of Phoenix and Frauline Edwards Green of Plainview; a stepdaughter, Shirley Reese of Irving; two stepsons, Fred Wygal of Freemont, Calif., and Tony R. She was a nurse's aide at Childress Nursing Center. She was a member of Eastern Star and St. John Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School superintendent and was active in Missions. She married Ople Harris in 1985 at Dallas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Williams, and two sons, Allen and Lester Williams. Burial will be in White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point by Brown Funeral Directors. A native of Farmers Branch, Mrs. Tarver attended Carrollton schools. She was a Borger resident for 50 years. In 1987, she retired as a teller at Panhandle Bank and Trust. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wills Point. She married John Thomas Tarver in 1949 at Dallas. Survivors include her husband; two sons, John Gordon Tarver of Canton and Jeffery Allan Tarver of Lavon; three brothers, Charlie Harrison of Irving, Dutch Harrison of Carrollton and Frank Harrison of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Annabelle Carter of Irving and Betty Jones of Dallas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carson was born in Roaring Springs. She lived in Hereford, Okla., and Slaton prior to returning to Roaring Springs. She was a homemaker and nurse's aide. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Roaring Springs. She married Forest Carson in 1959 at Matador. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Krystal Dawn Carson.
