Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Joyce officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Williams was born in Amarillo. She moved to Ruidoso in 1957. She was a member of the Republican Women, Elks Lodge Does and First Christian Church. She operated Saddle Horn Cabins and wrote the Ol' Dum Dum Tip Sheet. She married Sherman Atwood in 1947 at Amarillo. He died in 1985. Survivors include her twin son and daughter, Michael Atwood of Alto and Jo Michelle Smith of Lovington; a sister, Donna Rae Taube of Bailey, Colo.; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. CLOVIS, N.M. - Dorris Bond, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Allan W. Bond, officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mrs. Bond was born in Konawa, Okla. She moved to Curry County in 1929. She worked for the Clovis Memorial Hospital, retiring as a dietitian. She was a member of Central Christian Church. She married Vollie Reid Bond in 1925 at Konawa. He died in 1972. She also was preceded in death by a son, Dean Edward Bond. Survivors include a son, Darryl Bond of Clovis; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Bob G. Boyd, 66, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Curtis House, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Happy, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Boyd was born in Pampa. He graduated from Artesia High School and earned a master's degree in animal husbandry from New Mexico State University. He moved to Amarillo in 1985 from Hale Center. He married Linda Uselding in 1962 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kelli Hance of Amarillo; two brothers, Tom Boyd of Roswell, N.M., and Kerry Boyd of Santa Fe, N.M.; and two grandchildren. Lubbock - Dr. Pat Brecheen, 68, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fairmont Cemetery at Hollis, Okla., with his brother, Carl Brecheen, minister of the Church of Christ of Abilene, officiating. Arrangements are by White Funeral Home of Lubbock. Dr. Brecheen was born in Hollis, Okla. He graduated from Hollis High School, Abilene Christian College and Baylor Dental School. He operated his own dental office in Snyder. With a partner, he moved his practice to Tahoka in 1965. In 1969, he moved to Lubbock and opened his practice there in 1970. He retired in 1999. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Dr. Brecheen married Betty Bergeron Smith in 1972. She died in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Cole Brecheen of Portland, Ore., and John Brecheen of Abilene; three stepsons, Billy Smith of Plano, Barry Smith of Hurst and Bobby Smith of Houston; one daughter, Jodie McClintock of Plainview; one stepdaughter, Brenda Pierce of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Carl Brecheen of Abilene; one sister, June Cope of Hollis, Okla.; four grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren; The family suggests memorials be to the Boles Home, 7065 Love, Quinlan, TX, 75474; or, Westview Boys Home, P.O. HARRISONVILLE, Mo. - Kathleen Cook, 56, of Nowata, Okla., and formerly of Harrisonville, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in Dickey Funeral Home. Services will be at noon Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery. Memorial services in Dumas, Texas, are pending. Mrs. Cook was born in Kansas City, Mo. She had lived in Harrisonville since 1985 before moving to Dumas. She moved to Nowata in May. She worked as an "A" operator for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. in Louisburg, Kan. She also worked as a sales associate for J. Harold Smith Real Estate in Harrisonville and as a unit secretary for Moore County Hospital District in Dumas. Mrs. Cook was a member of the St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Nowata. She was a former member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville and the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dumas. Survivors include a son, Sean Patrick Cook of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Kim Bybee of Dumas and Jennifer Ring of Grandview; two brothers, Fred Monteil Jr. of Yukon, Okla., and Bill Monteil of Platte City; five sisters, Mary Lynne Buhlitz of Bella Vista, Ark., Sharon Aring of Smithville, Helen Betts of Five Points, Ala., Sue Deily of Gardner, Kan., and Johannah Johnson of Taberville; and four grandchildren. Currey, both of Amarillo; and his grandfather, Leo Currey of New Castle, Wyo. CLARENDON - Annie Clara Edwards, 88, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Robertson Funeral Directors Inc., Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Martindale, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mrs. Edwards was born in Tooele, Utah. She had lived in Howardwick since 1981 and moved to Amarillo in 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Howardwick and president of the Women's Missionary Union. She married the Rev. Joseph O.C. Edwards in 1930 at Amarillo. He died in May. She also was preceded in death by a son, Billy Bob Edwards, in 1948. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Edwards of Howardwick and Evelyn O'Donna Melancon of Houma, La.; a son, Lanny Edwards of Clarendon; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Billy Robert Fritz, 76, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Fritz was born in Sherman and graduated from Sherman High School in 1941. He lived in Pampa, Odessa and Dumas before moving to Amarillo in 1974. He was a retired funeral director. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He married Betty Martin in 1966 at Pampa. He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Fritz in 1996. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Fritz of Amarillo and Brent Crownover of San Antonio; a daughter, Jan Snure of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to San Jacinto Baptist Church Television Ministry. BORGER - Don R. Garton, 57, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Minton / Chatweel Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with Butch Hearon of Booker officiating. Mr. Garton was born in Oklahoma and had lived in Borger for the past 30 years, moving from Pampa. He retired from industrial cleaning. He was a member of the Christian church. He was preceded in death by a son, Nick Garton, in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Garton; three sons, David Garton of Dallas, Brian Garton of Fritch and Greg Garton of Borger; his mother, Fama Garton of Borger; and three grandchildren. BEAVER, Okla. - Mable Claire Goodner, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Pampa. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Beaver United Methodist Church with John Breon officiating. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Home. She was born in Bishop Community, Ellis County. She graduated from high school and went to nursing college. She had lived in Beaver since 1947. She was a nurse and also operated Goodner Funeral Home with her husband. She married Clifford Goodner in 1947 at Liberal, Kan. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her two sisters, Iva Henderson of Beaver and Pauline Holland of Amarillo. CHILDRESS - Alice Kelso Harper, 94, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Harper was born in Bokchito, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Clarence E. Kelso in 1979 and Glen Harper in 1994; and by two daughters, Pauline Mills and Thelma Wright. Survivors include three sons, Harlen Kelso of Childress, C.E. Kelso of Petrolia and Larry Kelso of Panhandle; seven daughters, Gwen Court and Ann Thorn, both of Childress, Mary Frances Tullos of Stephenville, Barbara Thorn of Gilmer, Johnnie Borton and Trudy Hite, both of Wichita Falls, and Linda Bates of Petrolia; a stepdaughter; 37 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 54 great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy Harris, 74, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in South Lawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kinch, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Llano East Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Harris was born in Wapanucka, Okla. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo. She worked as a clerk for the Greyhound Bus system. She was a member of South Lawn Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Kirby Thomas of Amarillo and Woody Cravens; and a daughter, Feta Morgan of Clovis, N.M. The body will not be available for viewing. HEREFORD - Buford A. Hill, 67, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Memorial graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Rest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. H.W. Bartlett, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Hill was born in Portales, N.M. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1947 from Floyd County. He served as private first class for the Army in Korea. He worked for the city of Dalhart and was a farmer. He was a Baptist. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jo Hill of Hereford and Jo Margaret Zigler of Walston, Pa.; a son, Roy Hill of Howells, Neb.; two sisters, Jo Hill of Hereford and Wanda Hovey of Indio, Calif.; a brother, Clifford Hill of Orangevale, Calif.; and four grandchildren. BRISCOE - Mary "Ma Mary" Hudson, 99, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First United Methodist Church of Wheeler with the Rev. Aaron Laverty, pastor of the Gageby Baptist Church of Gageby, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Hudson was born in Nelta. She moved to Briscoe in the 1920s and became a longtime resident of the area. She was a member of the Briscoe / Allison First United Methodist Church and the Home Demonstration Club. She moved to Amarillo in 1991. She married Lester John "L.J." Hudson in 1915 at Childress. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Olden L. Hudson and Victor "Si" Hudson; and by a daughter, Gertrude "Sis" Dement. Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Lois Hudson of Amarillo, and Mary Hudson of Clovis, N.M.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Make-a-Wish Foundation; or, a favorite charity. TUCUMCARI - Mary Frances Hurd, 37, died on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Clovis, N.M. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the First Assembly of God with the Rev. Bryan Hurst, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Hurd was born in Tucumcari and was a longtime resident. She had worked as a cook and operated the Pinon Restaurant at Tucumcari. She also managed a lounge and worked at the College Gym in Clovis. Survivors include her husband, John of Tucumcari; three daughters, Taneka Ingram, Deana Hurd, and Samitra Hurd, all of Tucumcari; a son, Cossmos Hurd of Tucumcari; three sisters, Sundra Span of Tucumcari, Joanna Ingram and Pagie Evans, both of Chicago; five brothers, Sammy Ingram, Earl Ingram and Anthony Kent, all of Fort Worth, Stanley Ingram of Weatherford and Jerry Ingram of Bridgeport; and a grandson. The body will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. until noon today at the funeral home. FRIONA - Rita Isham, 49, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Mrs. Isham was born in Seagraves. She had lived in Friona for two years, moving from Fort Worth. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Jack Isham in 1980 at Mexia. Survivors include her husband; a son, Pat Upton of Friona; her mother, Betty Heath of Friona; a sister, Yvonne Jones of Friona; a brother, James Upton of Friona; and two grandchildren. CLOVIS, N.M. - Velma Mae Hunton James, 90, of Amarillo and formerly of Clovis, N.M., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kingswood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cyril Stone, retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. James was born in Forrest. She had lived in House and moved to Amarillo six years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Kingswood United Methodist Church of Clovis and the United Methodist Women. She married William Howard James in 1931 at Forrest. He died in 1986. Survivors include three sons, Marvin D. James and Therman James, both of Amarillo and Herman James of Roswell; two brothers, Carroll Hunton of Portales and Wayne Hunton of Tucumcari; a sister, Lois Baker of Roswell; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Kingswood United Methodist Church of Clovis. PADUCAH - Don Russell Scott Jr., 34, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Lubbock. He attended West Texas State University. In 1987 he moved to Florida where he owned and operated a catering service in Key West, Fla. He returned to Texas in January. Survivors include two sisters, Suzette Michelle Bain of Amarillo and Lisa Koonce of Odessa; his mother, Joy Pettiet of Grow; his stepfather, Randy Pettiet of Grow; and his grandparents, Rudene Gounole and Nellie Martin, both of Childress. CLAYTON, N.M. - Twana Rene Kear, 36, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Denver, Colo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Kear was born in Dalhart, Texas. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She married Eugene Kear in 1982 at Clayton. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Brittany Kear and Morgan Kear, both of Clayton; a son, Zack Kear of Clayton; her parents, Charles and Patricia Duke of Amarillo; three sisters, Tammy Mogelinski of Amarillo, Kim Blackwell of Rowlett, Texas and Brenda Fulcher of Garden Valley, Texas; three brothers, Lance Duke and Chuck Duke, both of Amarillo and Chris Duke of Dumas, Texas. PAMPA - Bracie Sherling King, 56, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jacob Clemmens, rector, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Gaines County Cemetery at Seminole with the Rev. Mike Elmer, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church of Lamesa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. King was born in Haskell. She was a longtime resident of Seminole before moving to Pampa in 1992. She worked as a deputy in the Gaines County Sheriff's Office and then as detective and a field training officer for the Pampa Police Department. She retired in 1999. She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. She married George Sherling in 1967. He died in 1985. Survivors include her daughter, Chandra Nix of Pampa; a son, Kevin Sherling of Fredericksburg; her mother, Maurine King of Seminole; two sisters, Melva King of Seminole and Rhonda King of Lubbock; and a brother, Owen King Jr. of Seminole. QUANAH - Anna Mae Klapper, 87, formerly of Hardeman County, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Arlington. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Price-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Johnson, minister of Goodlett Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Goodlett Cemetery at Goodlett. Mrs. Klapper was born in Paris, Texas. She was a homemaker and had lived in Hardeman County most of her life. She taught school in Lazare. She was a member of Goodlett Baptist Church. She was living in Arlington at the time of her death. She married Vernon M. Klapper in 1929 at Hollis, Okla. He died in December. Survivors include a daughter, Verna Jo Werner of Arlington; a sister, Veda Melton of Oceanside, Calif.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
