Mr. Spencer was born in Pittsburg and moved to Amarillo in 1988 from South Port, N.C. He attended school in Clarendon and was a retired general contractor. Survivors include three daughters, Suzane Whisenhunt of Amarillo, Cindy Mann of Dallas, and Kimberly Spencer of Nashville; two sisters, Imogene Wright and Jeane Bartlett, both of Amarillo; a brother, Woody Spencer Jr. of Plainview; and six grandchildren. Cooke, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 1, 2000. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Ueckert, University Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Bryan, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Cooke was born in Amarillo and was a retired counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a 33-year member of the Top of Texas Alcoholics Anonymous. Her daughter, Cindy Kay Wireman, died in 1950. She married William H. Cooke III in 1969 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sandy Jeanine Lee and Dena Gann, both of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. "Shorty" Morgan, 92, of Amarillo, died Friday, March 31, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in West Oaks Funeral Chapel at Sulphur Springs with the Rev. Bruce Stinson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Mount Carmel Cemetery at Wolfe City. Mr. Morgan was born in Wolfe City and had lived in Amarillo since 1950. During World War II, he served in Guam and other locations with the Army. In 1972, he retired after 20 years as a street department employee for the City of Amarillo. He was a member of Summitt Baptist Church. He married Beatrice Mitchell in 1942 at Sherman. She died in 1982. Survivors include a son, James N. Morgan of Glenn Heights; a daughter, Karan Ann Ivie of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a retired teacher's aide for Amarillo Independent School District and a member of Dumas Drive Church of Christ. She married James Lee Smalley in 1953 at Hereford. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Ms. Williams was born in Chicago. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo, where she attended school. She had worked as a line server at the Silver Grill Cafeteria and at Northwest Texas Hospital. She married Thurman J. Williams in 1936. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her daughter, Virginia Kissler, in 1998. Survivors include a son, David A. Williams of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Melrose Church of Christ with Sean Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Williams was born in Cook County and grew up in West Texas. In 1962, he moved to Melrose, where he was a member of the Melrose Church of Christ. He was a farmer. He married Oma Lee McGaughey in 1946 at Canyon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Howard Williams of Hub; two daughters, Kay Vineyard of Melrose and Jan Hawkins of Clovis; a brother, Pete Williams of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Mutt Dutton of Friona and Lucille Huddleston of Myra; 12 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. A housewife and farmer, she was a member of High Plains Baptist Church. She married Wayne Stout in 1948. He died in 1968. She married Rusty Atwell in 1971 at Clovis. Mr. McGinnis was born in Foard County and was a lifetime resident of Crowell. He farmed for most of his life and for the past 12 years had worked as a security guard for North Texas State Hospital in Vernon. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of First Baptist Church in Crowell. His wife, Joyce McGinnis, died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Box of Dumas; two sisters, Mildred Licastro of Langley, Wash., and Patty Maben of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Gestes of Lubbock, and the Rev. Randy Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Stokes was born in Cresson and had been a resident of Blackwell before moving from Morton in 1992. She had lived in Cochran County for 59 years. In Morton, she was a member of First Baptist Church and Senior Citizens. She married Clayton H. Stokes in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1993. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Johnny Delbert, in 1942, and Stetcher Stokes in 1991; a grandson, Rodney Stokes, in 1956; a great-granddaughter, Paula Kinyon, in 1982; two greatgrandsons, Wayne Cooper, in 1984, and Elijah Hinkle, in 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Viola Walker of Blackwell and Jimmie Ruth Stokes of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren. Ms. Bennett was born in Hamlin and was a retired optician. She had worked for Dr. Anderson in Lubbock for many years. She was a member of the Fellowship of Believers Church in Hereford. She married Harry Bennett in 1931 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1987. Survivors include two brothers, Frank Prowell of Hereford and Bill Prowell of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister, Jo Mamrick of Hereford. Amarillo Daily News April 3, 2000 Arnold Young DUMAS - Arnold Young, 77, died Sunday, April 2, 2000. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Trammell, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mr. Young was born in Quay County, N.M., and lived in Dumas for 25 years before moving to Rodeo, Calif., in 1968. For many years, he was the manager of Buddy's Supermarket in Dumas. He was a Baptist. He served with the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Honolulu. He received three bronze stars. Survivors include a niece, Levella Turley of Dumas; five nephews, Bobby Stewart, James Stewart, Norris Stewart, and Joe Stewart, all of Dumas, and John Leach of Felton, Calif.; and several great nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ with Mr. Joseph Johnston, minister of the Lorenzo Church of Christ, and Mr. Kevin Rhodes, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Jenkins was born in Hood County and moved to Lubbock from Wellington in 1954. In the mid 1980s, she returned to Wellington from White River Lake. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ. She married Eugene Warren Jenkins in 1923 at Madge, Okla. He died in 1980. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Crooks, in 1978; and a grandson, Robert Antoon. Survivors include a daughter, Irma O'Rear of Wellington; 11 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 22 greatgreat-grandchildren.
