Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Eubanks was born in Waxahachie. He moved to Pampa in 1957 from Columbus, N.M. He was a heavy-equipment operator for Clayton Husted. He opened a used-car lot and owned and operated H.C. Eubanks Tool Rental Co. He was a Baptist. He married Tressie Lena Nichols in 1933 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1996. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Geneva Ruth Corcoran, in 1999. Survivors include a son, James Eubanks of Pampa; a sister, Pearl Allen of Lawn; five grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, May 3, 2000 Sammy J. Whatley PAMPA - Sammy J. Whatley, 55, died Sunday, April 30, 2000. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. Andy Taylor of Sayre, Okla., officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Whatley was born in Pampa. He was certified to minister by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division at the Jordan Unit in Pampa. He was a professional horseshoer. He participated in rodeos and had several saddles to his credit. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys in Pampa. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Dobbs was born in Erick, Okla., and grew up in Oklahoma City, where he graduated from high school. He attended Oklahoma City University. He moved to Amarillo in 1952 from Oklahoma City. He was a self-employed construction contractor and also had a ranch in Erick. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Mr. Dobbs married Mary Kathryn Pennington in 1935. She died in 1985. He married Esther Coleman in 1986. She died in 1999. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Jean Morton, in 1980. Survivors include two sons, Don Dobbs of Oklahoma City and Dale Dobbs of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Lamar St. Amarillo Daily News, May 3, 2000 New Mexico Virginia Schmieding PORTALES, N.M. - Virginia Schmieding, 84, formerly of Portales, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Wichita, Kan. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Janet Hansen, pastor, and the Rev. John McClean of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary. Mrs. Schmieding was born in Mena, Ark., and grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She married Howard Allen Schmieding in 1935 at McAlester, Okla., and they moved to Portales in 1954. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business until his death in 1965. She attended business school in Long Beach, Calif., before going to work in the library at Eastern New Mexico State University in 1972. She lived in Roswell several years and moved to Amarillo about two years ago. Mrs. Schmieding was active in the Republican Party. She was involved with the Community Services Center in Portales and a member of the Business and Professional Women and the Portales Woman's Club. She had been a deacon and an elder in First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the National Presbyterian Senate, Westminster's Presbytery and St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Allen Schmieding of Amarillo and Gary Schmieding of Citrus Heights, Calif.; a brother, James Allen of Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Ruth McKelvey of Portales; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Ms. Bennett was born in Portales and grew up in Clovis and Amarillo. She lived most of her adult life in Portales. She began working as a waitress at The Captain's Table around 1980 and later worked at Goober McCool's Lounge. Survivors include her mother, Gladys Dee Walker of Portales; her stepmother, Kate Bennett of Portales; two sisters, Ronda Gentry of Portales and Dorthea Walker of Fort Worth, Texas; three stepsisters, Dolly Craig and Wanda Nell Levacy, both of Portales, and Raynita Aud of Carmi, Ill.; and a stepbrother, Charles Walker of Amarillo. Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery by Kitch Funeral Home. Mrs. Bauer was born in Elmwood, Mo. She lived in Liberal 40 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She married Otto Bauer in 1924 at Guymon, Okla. They farmed near Guymon. He died in 1996. Survivors include three sons, Robert Bauer, Leroy Bauer and Kenneth Bauer, all of Guymon; two daughters, Clarice Hinds of Amarillo and Clara Mae Sutton of Aurora, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. Amarillo Daily News, May 3, 2000 Timothy LeRoy Nottingham BELFRY, Mont. - Timothy LeRoy Nottingham, 17, formerly of Belfry, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in Eugene, Ore. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Belfry Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Burial was in Belfy Cemetery by Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge. Services also were on April 29 in the Coquille High School Gymnasium at Coquille, Ore. Mr. Nottingham was born in Powell, Wyo. He lived in Montana and Texas several years before moving in 1995 to Powers, Ore, where he attended school for two years. He lived in Winnemucca, Nev., for two years before moving to Coquille a year ago. He was a junior at Coquille High School, where he was an honor student and member of the Drama Club. He worked as a DJ at a local radio station. He was a member of the Coquille Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Timothy and Marie Nottingham of Coquille; his mother and stepfather, Olinda and Gerald Gose of Fromberg; two brothers, Michael Nottingham of Abilene, Texas, and Matthew Nottingham of Vittoriovneto, Italy; a sister, Tina Nottingham of Fromberg; a stepbrother, Johnathan Johns of Bakersfield, Calif.; four stepsisters, Cheryl Johns of Coquille, Melanie Johns of Milford, Calif., Layna Crabtree of Molino, Fla., and Julie Johns of Bandon, Ore.; and grandparents, Squire Jones and Laura Nottingham, both of Belfry, and Kenneth and Betty Betts of Powers, Ore. Amarillo Daily News, May 3, 2000 Vernon White SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - Vernon White, 71, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Tucson. Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Kino Chapel at Fort Huachuca. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. in Post Cemetery at Fort Huachuca. Arrangements are by Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary LLC. Mr. White was born in Dallas and graduated from Lincoln High School. He attended Cochise Community College at Sierra Vista. Mr. White was a retired Army sergeant. He served at posts in the United States, Germany, Guam, Okinawa and Japan. He served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal - 7th award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Mechanic Badge with bar, Army Commendation Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation and Korean Service Medal. He retired in 1974. He was a past member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9972 of Sierra Vista, where he served as post commander and trustee. He was a member of the Duffers Golf Group. He married Claudia White in 1954 at Fort Sill, Okla. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Veronica White and Betty White, both in 1999. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael Stewart of Amarillo, Terry White of Shreveport, La., Vernon White Jr. of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Preston White of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Claudia Stuart of Amarillo and Barbara Chapman of Pensacola; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
