Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Eddie Hart, elder of Ash and Carver Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Thompson was born in Acala and moved to Plainview in 1954 from Dallas. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, he attended Wylie College. He was a farmer and rancher. He married Margie Mae Smith in 1961 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra Johnson and Cynthia Hallman, both of Mesquite; two sons, Roy James Thompson Jr. of Houston and Stephen Thompson of El Paso; four sisters, Willie Mae Lee and Barbara Peoples, both of Dallas, Reta Ann Carter of Pampa, and Margaret Thompson of Houston; two brothers, Jack Thompson of Houston and Charles Thompson of Queens, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren. TULIA - Earl E. West, 91, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. West was born in Montague County and moved to Tulia from Grandfield, Okla., in 1929. He worked in auto paint and body repair for Conner Motor Co. Until retiring in 1983, he worked for Swisher Electric Co-op. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Tulia Senior Citizens. His son, Richard Eldon West, died in 1991. He married Reba Laura Stallings n 1932 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1980. He married Dorothy Melton in 1991. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hohenberger of Midland and Cindy Lou McDowell of Tulia; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. SPEARMAN - Billie Jean "B.J." Parker, 47, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Smith and the Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Parker was born in Borger and moved to the area from Dalhart in 1978. She worked as a manager at Berry Cleaners in Spearman. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married John Mark Parker in 1977 at Borger. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark Alan Parker and David Turner Parker, both of San Marcos; a stepson, John Richard Parker of Denver; a stepdaughter, Brandie Jarvis of Spearman; her mother and stepfather, Nelda and Walter McDade of Spearman; a sister, Lee Tice of Skellytown; a brother, Eddie Rodgers of Spearman; a stepsister, Kathy McDade of Skellytown; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX 79081. PLAINVIEW - James Clark Harris, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Albuquerque, N.M. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wesley Daniels, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Harris was born in Crafton. After graduating from Lockney High School in Lockney, he farmed in Floyd and Swisher counties. While living in Lockney, he was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was president of the board, Sunday school superintendent, and taught Sunday school. As a member of the Lockney Quartet, he performed at community functions and on the radio. He served on the Lockney School Board, the Cub Scout Leadership Council, and was honored for service to the Lockney Future Farmers of America. He was also a member of the Floydada Lions Club. After retiring, he moved to Plainview, where he was a member of First United Methodist Church, serving on the board. As a member of Gideons International, he served as president, Memorial Bible Secretary and helped with the jail ministry and distribution of food at Faith in Sharing House. In 1995, he moved to Albuquerque, where he attended St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. He married Velma Lucille Burrows in 1936. A son, Ronald Clark Harris, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joan Clark of Albuquerque and Carolyn James of Spearman; a brother, J.C. Harris of Kress; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International. James Leslie Robinson, 58, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Mausoleum with the Rev. Roy Almaroad of Mescalero Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.. Mr. Robinson was born in Elsa. He worked as a roofing contractor. Survivors include a daughter, Kasie Robinson of Amarillo; two sons, James Lee Robinson of Amarillo and Barton Riley Robinson of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Wanda Thorn, Alice Clark, and Velma Srader, all of Amarillo; two brothers, John Robinson and Kennith Robinson, both of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Charlotte Brewer King, 88, former resident of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Canyon. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Judd Wilhite of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Cremation will be by Memory Gardens Crematory. Mrs. King was a lifetime resident of Amarillo and moved to Canyon three years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Daughters of the Old Trail Drivers of Texas. Survivors include a son, Gene Barksdale of Amarillo; a brother, John Brewer of Seattle; a sister, Lorene Arterburn of Gainsville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice of Amarillo. Mary Catherine Helms, 68, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in North Amarillo Church of Christ with Dalton Key officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Helms was born in Childress and moved to Amarillo more than 50 years ago. A member of Buchanan Street Baptist Church, she worked in production at Blue Morrow Meats. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Ann Brown, Shirley J. Griego, and Mary Jones Collins, all of Amarillo; three sons, Michael Jones, Tommy Jones, and Patrick James Griego, all of Amarillo; a brother, James Helms of Lake Dallas; a sister, Barbara Sue Cozby of Childress; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Jean Gloria Stallings, 74, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Civil, minister of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Stallings was born in Raton and was a longtime resident of Quay County. After graduating from Mosquero High School in 1944, she attended Eastern New Mexico University at Portales. A homemaker, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was the organist. She was a member and officer of the Quay County Extension Club. She was a 4-H leader and served on the UHF Television Board. Survivors include her husband, Glenn Stallings; a son, Clayton Stallings of Clovis; a daughter, Glenda Reid of Tucumcari; a sister, Margie Peacock of Nogal; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. today and Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Helping Hands Hospice, 615 S. Second St., Tucumcari, NM.
