Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Garrett of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Storseth was born in Amarillo. After graduating from Amarillo High School, he attended Amarillo College and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas. After receiving a master's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland, he taught air transport economics at the Universities of Maryland and Pittsburgh and received organization and management training at Yale and Stanford Universities. During World War II, he served with the Navy. He worked for American Airlines in economic research and sales and for the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the American Petroleum Institute. He then worked for Tri-State Regional Planning Commission in New York City for the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York as Director of Finance and Administration until his retirement in 1983. He served on the Aviation and Highway Committee and the Air Show Committee of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. He was active with the Amarillo High School Reunion committees and the Amarillo High School 50th Alumni Association. He was a member of the Texas Aviation Historical Society, the Downtown Lions Club, and First Baptist Church. Survivors include four brothers, Donald Storseth and Eddie Storseth, both of Amarillo, and Bill Storseth and Jerry Storseth, both of Houston; and a sister, Gladys Olivier of Amarillo. The family will be at 1918 Goliad St. Amarillo Daily News June 5, 2000 Lawrence Bockelman Lawrence Bockelman, 73, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 3, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. with the Rev. Tony Dean of Plum Creek Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Bockelman was born in Turkey and had lived in Amarillo since 1956. He served with the Navy during World War II and was retired from Borden's as a mechanic. He married Linda Beckham in 1976 at Clovis, N.M. His son, Richard Lee Barnes Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sherlon Morris of Enochs and Stella Barnes and Julie Horton, both of Amarillo; six sons, Steve Bockelman of Joplin, Mo., Kevin Reid, Robert Barnes, Carl Barnes, and Allen Barnes, all of Amarillo, and Rodger Barnes of Live Oak; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Schroeder, 78, of Amarillo, died Thursday, June 1, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park East Mausoleum with Pastor Charles Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Schroeder was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved from Houston to Amarillo, where he was a longtime resident. He was a criminal investigator for the Army Air Corp during World War II and later worked as an insurance investigator. He worked in claims and production for Maryland Casualties, Hartford A&I and Ranchers and Farmers Insurance Co. His wife, Kathryn Schroeder, died in 1994. Survivors include a stepson, Harry P. Neuhardt of Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Arlene Carter of Panama City, Fla.; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and fiance, Betty Jo Atkinson of Amarillo. Mrs. Hammon was born in Coleman, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Nara Visa. She was a member of Nara Visa Methodist Church. Her husband, Keith Hammon, died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Bell of Nara Visa; two sisters, Wilma Caton of Amarillo and Jo McCurry of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, T.E. "Red" Owens of Coleman; and a grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Groom with the Revs. Byron Williamson and Bryan Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Lamb was born in Jericho and graduated from Groom High School. In 1958, he received a degree in agronomy from Texas Tech University at Lubbock. A past president of Groom Lions Club, he had served as mayor and city commissioner. He was a former member of Panhandle Regional Planning Commission and Groom Economic Development Council. He had been director and president of the board of Groom Co-op and a member of Saddle Tramps and Phi Mu Alpha Music fraternity. He served in the U.S. Navy. A member of First Baptist Church in Groom, he served as deacon and music director. He married Janetta Bruce in 1963 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Andrea Hooten of Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Jon Mark Beilue of Amarillo; two sisters, Laverne Roof of Phoenix and Virginia Trevathan of Durant, Okla.; three brothers, Murl Lamb of Leroy, Mich., Morris Lamb of Amarillo, and Stanley Lamb of Jericho; and three grandchildren. John Salazar Jimenez, pastor of Church of Holy Spirit in Tulia and St. Paul the Apostle in Kress, and Deacon Cantu of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Garcia was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She worked for Caprock Community Action of Plainview and assisted the Women's League of the Salvation Army. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Jimmy Garcia in 1977 at Plainview. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Kennedy Garcia of Plainview; three daughters, Suzanna Ferrer Sepeda of Crowley, and Marisela Ferrer Garcia and Sonia Ferrer Garcia, both of Plainview; four brothers, Pedro Ferrer of Kress, Jose Angel Ferrer and Luis Ferrer, both of Lubbock, and Margarito Ferrer of Plainview; a sister, Maria del Refugio Gonzalez of Plainview; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Diabetes Association. Amarillo Daily News June 5, 2000 Alma Swearingen PLAINVIEW - Alma Swearingen, 91, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Hale Center. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Knox City Cemetery with Ron Huckeby officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Swearingen was born in Knox County, where she farmed. She was a Baptist. In 1997, she moved to Plainview. She married A.W. Swearingen in 1927. He died in 1968. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joe Swearingen; and a grandson, Paul Swearingen. Survivors include two sons, Wallace Swearingen and Cled Swearingen, both of Plainview; 14 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Mrs. Witt was born in Wheeler County. She lived in Stinnett before moving to White Deer four years ago. She married Daries Witt of Carlsbad, N.M.; a daughter, Diahana Hillman of White Deer; two sisters, Bonnie Anderson and Marcia Sanders, both of Sayre, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Dunaway was born in McEwen, Tenn., and had lived in Fritch for 36 years. He graduated from Pampa High School and retired as a foreman from Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Fritch Church of Christ. He married Mary Edith Crocker in 1935. She died in 1994. His daughter, Carolyn Berryhill, died in 1994. Survivors include a brother, Clarence Dunaway of Odessa; a sister, Carmen Henson of Hobbs, N.M.; and three grandchildren. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Hill was born in Paint Rock, Ala. A retired farmer, he was a longtime resident of Hedley, where he was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He married Jonnie Ruth Land in 1936 at Memphis. She died in 1994. Survivors include two sisters, Bertha Russell of Sunset and Ovella Wilkinson of Weatherbee; and a brother, Junior Hill of Hedley. Mr. Gonzalez was born in Durango, Mexico, and moved to Dalhart many years ago. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. His son, Juan Jose Gonzalez, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Sanjuana Gonzalez of Dalhart; three sons, Carlos Emilio Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, and Miguel Angel Gonzalez; two daughters, Monica Gonzalez and Atanasia Gonzalez; his mother, Atanasia Alvarez Gonzalez; three brothers, Carmelo Gonzalez, Lucio Gonzalez, and Andrez Gonzalez; two sisters, Irene Gonzalez and Maria Jesus Gonzalez; and a grandchild.
