Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Elwin Rogers, pastor of First Assembly of God in Perryton, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Wray was born in Texarkana, Ark., and moved to Amarillo in 1921. She had worked for Mistletoe Creameries in 1924 and then for Plains Creamery in the late 1930s. She married John Samuel Wray in 1924. He died in 1963. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jo Belcher of Amarillo; two sons, Eddy Louis Wray of Buena Vista, Colo., and Bobby Lee Wray of Perryton; a sister, Jessie Jo Walker of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 20 greatgreat-grandchildren. Lilly Marguerite Elizabeth Lilly, 85, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in Gainesville. Private graveside services will be Monday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Lilly was born in Gainesville. She had lived in Amarillo for 37 years before moving to Lake Buchanan and then to Bryan, before returning to Gainesville. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lilly, in 1981. Survivors include a son, John Michael Lilly of College Station; a daughter, Marsha Brown of Springer, Okla.; a sister Charlene Griggs of Ventura, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ. She married Hood H. Bennett in 1936 at Kileen. Survivors include her husband; a son, Terry Bennett of Amarillo; a brother, H.W. Halmark of Tulsa, Okla.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, May 6, 2000 New Mexico Mabel L. Hawkins CLOVIS, N.M. - Mabel L. Hawkins, 87, died Friday, May 5, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in The Chapel with Raymond Mondragon officiating. Burial will be in Plains Sanctuary Mausoleum by Muffley Funeral Home Inc. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Pleasant Hill, and was a lifetime resident of Clovis and Roosevelt County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portales, the Curry and Roosevelt Democratic Parties, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Clovis. She also served as a legislative liaison for American Association of Retired Persons. She was a homemaker and had farmed in Melrose with her first husband Virgil Hawkins. She married Virgil Hawkins in 1937 at Mangum, Okla. He died in 1985. She married Floyd Inglis in 1987 at Clovis. He died in 1991. Survivors include two sisters, Nettie Mae Harding of Dalhart and Esta Marie Phipps of Oklahoma City. Amarillo Daily News, May 6, 2000 Oklahoma O.J. Huebner HOOKER, Okla. - O.J. "Hip" Huebner, 81, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, in Liberal, Kan. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hooker Church of Christ with Neville Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Huebner was born near Turpin. He attended school in the Turpin area and in Hooker. He farmed with his father in the Hooker area. He married Vera Agnes Mayfield in 1942 at Guymon. They farmed north of Hooker until retiring in 1988. Mrs. Huebner died in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Ann McBee of Hooker; a brother, Fred Huebner of Brighton, Colo.; a sister, Gertrude Brandes of Hooker; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Hooker Cemetery fund; or High Plains Children's Home. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home. Amarillo Daily News, May 6, 2000 Catherine Steinbach GUYMON, Okla. - Catherine Amelia Steinbach, 86, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000. Vigil services will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Adams and the Rev. James Jacobson officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Garden City, Kan., by the Rev. James A. Baker, the Rev. John Vrana and the Rev. Scott Adams. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Steinbach was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She moved to the United States in 1915 and became a U.S. citizen in 1965. She lived in the Garden City area before moving to Guymon in 1968. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She married John M. Steinbach in 1946 at Garden City. He died in 1984. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Steinbach of Guymon and Betty Jean Lehr of Olive Branch, Miss.; a sister, Rose Schiffelbein of Garden City; and one granddaughter. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Amarillo Daily News, May 6, 2000 Alvin Francis Neese FORGAN, Okla. - Alvin Francis Neese, 81, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Beaver. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Forgan Cemetery with Terry Fox officiating. Arrangements are by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mr. Neese was born northeast of Forgan, Okla. He served in Europe with the Army during World War II. He had owned and operated a service station in Forgan. After selling the station he worked as a school bus driver and monitored well production for Charles Bond. He and his wife had also owned and operated a Triple A Store. After their retirement they ran a lawn service. He married Frances Arlene "Deanie" Barkley in 1939. She died in 1986. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Fayrene "Faye" Kramer of Port Orchard, Wash., and A. Ann Walker of Kingsland, Ga.; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters. He married Jeannie Tyson in 1964 at Maple. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelina Deion Williams, in 1969. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Darnel Dewayne Williams of Arbutus, Md., and Gary Don Young of Odessa; two sisters, Mary Juanell Hagelburger of Odessa and Barbara Ann Brunk of Eugene, Ore.; two brothers, Bernard Allen Williams of Gulfport, Miss., and David Donald Williams of Clovis, N.M.; and six grandchildren. She graduated from Dalhart High School. She was a seamstress and had worked for C.R. Anthony's. Mrs. Enfield was a member of First Baptist Church and the Sunshine Girls Sunday school class. She was a past member of the garden club. She married Marvin Enfield in 1929 at Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Enfield. Terry Cosby and the Rev. Gerald Mann officiating. Mrs. White was born in Merkel and had lived in Hereford for more than 45 years. She earned a home economics degree from Texas Tech University. She taught school in Wilson, Elmhurst and the Lubbock area. She was a member of the La Plata Study Club and First Baptist Church, where she taught children's Sunday school. She married Raymond White in 1944 at Lubbock. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan Shaw of Hereford and Sherry Talley of Odessa; a son, J. Chris White of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, D.C. Herring of Friona and Dean Herring of Hereford; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Morgan was born in Springfield, Mo., and had lived in Pampa since 1943. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for Celanese Corp., retiring in 1986 as a maintenance supervisor. He was a past member and past president of the Pampa Evening Lions Club. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Mr. Morgan married Maxine Watts Buchanan in 1975 at Hammond, La. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven Morgan of New Braunfels and Timothy Morgan of Aurora, Colo.; a stepson, Stephen Buchanan of Amarillo; a brother, Gary Hill of Glen Rose; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ephesians Church of God in Christ with the Elder Willie Jackson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Slaughter was born in Georgetown, Williamson County. She attended schools in Georgetown and later moved to Lubbock. She moved to Hall County in 1948. She was a longtime member of Ephesians Church of God in Christ, where she had also served as mother of the church. She married Charlie Slaughter in 1946 at Lubbock. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a son. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Thomas and Etheline Mason, both of Memphis; two sons, Charlie Slaughter Jr. of Amarillo and Billy Wayne Slaughter of Denver; two sisters, Cleo Sneed and Betty Jo Anderson, both of Snyder; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She had been a hairdresser and had owned and operated several beauty shops in Dumas. She was a member of the Dumas Eagles Lodge No. 3956. She married John McClary in 1996 at Dumas. Survivors include her husband; a son, Rusty Dwayne Perry of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, Kenneth L. Coffey of Dumas; and five grandchildren. He served in the Army and was a retired warehouseman at Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 671, the Knights of Columbus and St. Theresa Catholic Church in Panhandle. Mr. Duthoo married Norma Fawcett in Kansas City. Reginald Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes was born in Kaufman. She was a presser at Hargrave Cleaners. She was active in the church and with missions. Mrs. Hughes was a correspondent for the Childress Index and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Survivors include her husband, Climmie B. Hughes; two stepsons, Jerry Lee Goodman of Dallas and Larry J. Goodman of Sherman; two stepdaughters, Laura Jean Allen and Oweitta Ann Goodman, both of Dallas; a sister, Margie Britain of Childress; and a brother, William Crawford of Childress.
