Mrs. Shaw was born in Hartshorn, Okla., and moved to Hereford in 1937. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge No. 228 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She married George Lewis Shirley in 1930 at Stratford, Okla. He died in 1968. Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Smith and Kay Malicoat, both of Amarillo, Joyce Landers of Hereford; a son, Alvin Shirley of Chandler, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to Hereford Senior Citizens and the American Cancer Society. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 7, 2000 Mayrene "Rene" Deeds BOOKER - Mayrene "Rene" Deeds, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Booker with the Rev. Clifford Baze and the Rev. Brent Farney officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Deeds was born in Harrah, Okla. Her family moved to the Follett area, where she attended the Cope Country School. She married Trulyn Turner Deeds in 1929 at Follett, where they farmed and ranched. In 1946, they moved to a ranch southeast of Booker. After her husband died, Mrs. Deeds moved to Booker in 1970. She relocated in 1998 to the Shattuck Nursing Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Booker. Survivors include two sons, Lewis Deeds of Higgins and Gene Deeds of Lubbock; a brother, C.W. Herron of Beaver, Okla.; two sisters, Lola Kliewer of Follett and Marnie Baldwin of California; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was born in Wheeler and raised in Chillicothe. She attended Abilene Christian College and West Texas Teacher's College, then taught school at Union Hill for one year. For most of her life, Mrs. Cox lived in Swisher County. She was a member of Central Church of Christ where she was a Bible class teacher. In 1991, she moved to Dumas. She married J.W. "Bill" Cox in 1927 at Tolbert. He died in 1994. Survivors include a son, James Cox of Dumas; a daughter, Jane Bates of Arlington; five grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Caldwell was born and raised in Hereford where she graduated from Hereford High School in 1939. She was a bookkeeper for C.R. Anthony's. She was active in Hereford Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Avenue Baptist Church. She married Pete Caldwell in 1940. He died in 1992. Mrs. Hampton was born in Carbon and had been a Moore County resident since 1948. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She married O.C. Hampton in 1933 at Carbon. He died in 1994. Mr. Rohde was born in Brady and moved to Borger in 1952 from Brownwood. He was a World War II veteran. He owned Chem Lab, was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church and was a Mason. He married Dorothy Maxine Laughry. She died in 1991. Galley, 94, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Hereford, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 in Bertram. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in West Park Cemetery with the Rev. Paul McClung, retired Baptist preacher, officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Galley was born in Traer, Iowa, and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1912. He graduated from Hereford High School then moved to Wichita, Kan. He returned to Deaf Smith County where he farmed until moving to San Luis Valley, Colo., in 1957. In San Luis Valley, he farmed and owned an Allis Chalmers Farm Implement and Supply dealership. After his retirement, he moved to Mesa then moved to the Austin area. He married Dorothy Burns at Center, Colo. His first marriage was to Martha Posey at Wichita. He was preceded in death by Martha and a daughter, Irlene Galley Bustamante Shearer. Survivors include his wife of Mesa; a son, Clifford H. Galley of Burnett; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; step-children and step-great-grandchildren. Georgia St. Mrs. Moore was born in Commerce and lived most of her life in the Texas Panhandle. She married Robert "Bob" J. Moore Sr. in 1922 at Memphis. He died in 1982. She was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church and the Berean Ladies Sunday School Class. Survivors include a son, Robert J. He married Linda Hutcherson in 1973 at Amarillo. She died in 1995. He died in 1987. Mrs. Rice was born in Marlow, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1936. She and her husband, Homer, owned and operated Rice's Dining Restaurant for 31 years, retiring in 1978. Mrs. Rice was a member of the Quilting Club, First Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship. She played the piano for the Congenial Couples Class for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Edwin Rice of Edmond, Okla., and Robert Rice of San Antonio; two sisters, LaVerne Lawley of Oklahoma City and Jane Wilson of Lawton, Okla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones was born in Hugo, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1988. He had been a crane operator and worked in a machine shop. He was a Christian. Ms. O'Neal was born in Amarillo and graduated from Texas State Technological Institute as an instrument technician. For 10 years, she worked for Excell Helium Plant in Masterson. She then was employed by Enron Gas Co. in Spearman. She was a member of Lake Meredith Harbor Community. Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Deupree of Amarillo and Kim Adkins of Borger; her father and stepmother, Emmitt and Thelma Rodgers of Pawnee, Okla.; her mother, Earline Rodgers of Amarillo; a brother, Gary Rodgers of Amarillo; two sisters, Sandra Blazek of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Carol Burnes of Pawnee, Okla.; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Nickell, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, and the Rev. Bob Goodwin, pastor of Neosho Bible College. Arrangements were by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy. Mrs. Mariner was born in Canyon. For 38 years, she was a cook for West Texas State Teacher's College. She also was a manager of Taylor & Sons Deli and worked for the Canyon Independent School District. She was a charter member of First Assembly of God Church in Canyon. She married John Henry Mariner in 1936 at Canyon. He died in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Cooper of Happy; a son, Jerry Mariner of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Mrs. Hinderliter was born in Waynoka, Okla. She was active in church, teaching Sunday school at various locations of Church of God for 25 years. She was a pianist, Missionary Society member and served on church boards. She attended First Church of the Nazarene of Clovis for the past two years. She married Lloyd Hinderliter in 1942 at Waynoka, Okla. Mr. Yannotti was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Clovis in 1975. He was a self-employed carpenter and belonged to the Carpenter's Union Local No. 848 for 50 years. He married Constance Vella in 1946. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the city of Levelland Cemetery with the Rev. John Adams officiating. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Smith was born in Snyder and married Raine Baron in 1943 at Springfield, Mass. She died in 1963. Mr. Smith served during World War II in the Army Air Corps in England and France. He was awarded a distinguished unit citation with five battle stars. He retired from Producer Grain Corp. as terminal manager. He was a Baptist. Survivors include three sisters, Janie Herrin of Lubbock, May Beth Davis and Ada Lee Nixon, both of San Angelo.
