Carpenter DIMMITT - Florence A. Carpenter, 88, died Monday, June 5, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Foskey-Lilley-McGill Ivey Chapel with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Anson and moved to Castro County from Jones County in 1953. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, member of the Women's Missionary Union and taught Sunday school. She married J.O. Carpenter in 1934 at Jones County. He died in 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Claudie Preston of Abilene, Darlene Dowell of Granbury and Kay O'Briant of Lubbock; a brother, Woodrow Dutton of Hereford; two sisters, Marie Austin of Midland and Eunice Burton of Kress; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Belton, 61, died Friday, June 2, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Borger High School Auditorium, officiated by the Rev. Myron Waddle, the Rev. Carl Taylor, the Rev. Ken Sheppard, the Rev. Kenneth Reagans, the Rev. R.L. Belton and Judge David McCoy. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Belton was a native of Jonesboro, La. and lived in Borger nine years. He was an engineer at the Pantex Plant. He was a member of the Borger Independent School Board, the State School Board, and the Borger Youth League. He was a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Belton married Ruth Sauls in 1961 at Waco. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gregg Belton of Houston; a daughter, Shawn Belton of Dallas; two brothers, the Rev. R.L. Belton and Nathaniel Belton, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Gloria Wilson of Jonesboro and Rosa Raff of Benbrook; and a grandson. The family suggests memorials be to Paul D. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Citizens Cemetery at Clarendon with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Hughes was born in Samnorwood and was a 20-year resident of Plainview. She lived in Slaton three years before moving to Howardwick 10 years ago. She worked as a secretary and clerk at several businesses before she retired. She was a Baptist. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Zawicki of Altus, Okla., and Sherry York of Howardwick; three sisters, Jean Reynolds of Vinson, Okla., Gwen Lyons of Amarillo and Patsy Barton of Howardwick; five grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Loran Harper of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Lummus was born in Plainview. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1960 and moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Childress. He attended Amarillo College and Texas A&M University. He received his state "A" water license. He worked for Southwestern Public Service Co. as a chemist 23 years. A songwriter and published poet, he was a member of the Amarillo Poets Society and the Cowboy Poets Society. He was a member of the Comanche Trail Church of Christ. He married Ruby N. Southerland in 1962 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jamie Webb of Mansfield; a son, Stephen Lummus of Borger; his mother, Vera Lummus of Amarillo; three brothers, Bob Lummus and Gene Lummus, both of Asheville, N.C., and Mike Bridges of Sherman; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Walters was born in Mayfield and moved from Kansas to Amarillo in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She married Don Walters Sr. in 1932 at Oklahoma. He died in 1972. She also was preceded in death by a son, David Walters, in 1990. Survivors include a son, Don Walters of Amarillo; a brother, Charles Edward Kimball II of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Nichols was born in Ardmore, Okla. and moved from Fort Worth to Amarillo in 1950. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Carpenters Union No. 665 and Buchanan Street Baptist Church. He married Mary Izell Voyles in 1951 at Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by twin sons, Wayne and Dewayne Nichols, in 1953. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Lois James and Charlene Bolls, both of Amarillo and Jackie Wiswell of Dumas; a son, Donnie Johnson of Oklahoma; four sisters, Aleen Chambers of Arkansas, Martha Wright of Amarillo, Nellie Lubeski of Florida and Wynona Laaker of Illinois; a brother, Leroy Nichols of Brazoria; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Castillo was born in San Buena Ventura, Coahuila, Mexico. He attended Hermleigh High School. He lived in Hermleigh and Snyder before moving to Canyon in 1981. He worked at the wastewater treatment plant for the city of Canyon. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Canyon Softball Association. He married Maria Elena Ramirez in 1981 at Snyder. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Seth Castillo and Carlos Castillo, both of the home; a daughter, Celina Castillo of the home; his mother, Maria Castillo of Snyder; two brothers, Ignacio Castillo Jr. of Snyder and Hermilo Castillo of San Angelo; and six sisters, Rosa Sifuentes, Leticia Martinez, Sandra Alcala and Norma Verduzco, all of Snyder, Mary Romero of Round Rock and Brenda Juarez of Ira. He was a maintenance manager at Skaggs Hospital in Branson. Mrs. McQueen was born in Turlock, Calif. She was a homemaker and a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church and was involved with the church's AWANA Club. She married Andrew Lee McQueen in 1996 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Survivors include her husband; a son, Bradon McQueen; her father, Charles Pike of Turlock; her mother, Echo Penley of Omak, Wash.; a brother, Brien Pike of Seattle; a sister, Ramona Penley of Omak; and grandparents, Jack and Ruby Pike of Turlock and Mary Norman.
