Eakin, 97, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Floydada Cemetery with the Rev. Les Reed officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Eakin was born in Chilton. He graduated from high school in Chilton and attended business college in Waco. He moved to Floyd County in 1925 from Chilton. He was a veteran of the Army. He retired from farming and cattle buying in 1995. He was a Methodist. He married Mary Alice Montgomery in 1926 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bettye Chowning of Floydada; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. DALHART - Shirley Heller, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the People's Church with Jerry Davis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Heller was born and raised in Arlington, Kan. She moved to Dalhart in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of the People's Church. A musician and singer, she had been active in church music programs most of her life. She married Albert Milton Heller Sr. in 1933 at Arlington. He died in 1978. Survivors include three sons, Aldon L. Heller of Dumas, Larry Dean Heller of Fairfield, Iowa, and Albert Milton Heller Jr. of Dalhart; two daughters, Ailene Melius and Shirley Ann Thompson, both of Dalhart; two brothers, Walker Reynolds of Heber Springs, Ark., and Charles "Andy" Reynolds of Dodge City, Kan.; a sister, June Dorman of Salina, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the People's Church; or Memorial Park Cemetery fund. BORGER - Cleaton B. "C.B." Stubbs, 100, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of Fountains with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mr. Stubbs, a Sunset native, had lived in the Borger area for the past 60 years. He retired in 1960, after 33 years, from Gulf Oil where he worked as a pump operator. He was a Baptist. He married Ola Ila Ellis in 1923. She died in 1982. Survivors include five daughters, Marie Mason of Harlingen, Donna Hoppe of Mathis, Winnie Mae Staggs of Bedford, Pat Cornelius of Borger, and Virginia Shadid of Yukon, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065. James L. Brown, 68, of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mr. Brown was born at Asher, Okla. He was a lifelong resident of Pampa and Amarillo. He was a Baptist and a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include two sisters, Pat Britton of Pampa and Teddy Pyron of Lubbock; and a brother, Bill Brown of Waco. Vivian H. Setzler, 87, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Houston. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Setzler was born in Quanah. She lived in Amarillo from 1945 to 1991. She had attended Trinity United Methodist Church. She moved to Houston in 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Setzler, in 1947. Survivors include a son, Dr. Paul E. Setzler Jr. of Houston; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Maxine Hardin Price, 81, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Bankhead, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Price was born in Hale County. She moved to Amarillo in 1944 from McKinney. She had served as the first woman on the traffic commission. She was a member of the Junior League of Amarillo, Amarillo Garden Club and the Symphony Guild. She also was involved with Boy Scouts, Brownies, Kids, Inc., and the YWCA. She helped organize the first Mothers March of Dimes in Amarillo. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She married Walter Thomas Price Jr in 1937 at McKinney. He died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Walter Thomas Price III of Chicago; a daughter, Sharon Marrs of Roscoe, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mrs. Kuder lived in Amarillo for about six years before moving to the Houston area. She remained there until 1995, when she moved to the Phoenix area. She was a resident of Apache Junction, Ariz. She had worked as a secretary for many years, retiring from Westland Oil Co. in Houston. She married Robert Kuder in 1959 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Kuder, in 1989. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jan Allen; a son, Steven Kuder; two sisters, Allie Jean Barksdale and Angela Price; three brothers, Billy Wills, G. Lyle Wills and John Wills; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. He had lived in Amarillo for the past five years and worked as a dispatcher for several cab companies. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Brenda Petitt of Amarillo; a sister, Barbara Honeycutt of Lufkin; and a brother, Paul Blackburn of Glendale, Ariz. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 7, 2000 Debra Ann Michael, 41, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bovina Church of Christ with Cecil Bunch, of Clovis, N.M., and Richard Kelly, of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery at Bovina by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home in Friona. Mrs. Michaels was born in Clovis, N.M. She had lived in Amarillo for 19 years, moving from Bovina. She was a teacher for River Road Independent School District. She taught seventh and eighth grade basketball and later, physical education at the elementary level. She was a member of the Bovina Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Jestin Michaels and Jason Michaels, both of Amarillo; her father, Charlie Gilbreath of Bovina; her mother, Isabell Gilbreath of Bovina; a sister, Diane Maynard of Amarillo; and three brothers, Chuck Gilbreath of Davis City, Iowa, Dale Gilbreath of Andrews and Jimmy Don Gilbreath of Littlefield. M.B. Allen, 84, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Allen was born in Lockney. He owned and operated M.B. Allen Construction for 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Business Club Palo Duro Chapter and the Carpenter's Union since 1937. He married Cora Wright in 1938 at Mart. Survivors include wife; two sons, Ronald Allen of Cleveland and Mike Allen of San Saba; a sister, Rosa Lea Gibson of Anna; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Business Club. LOGAN, N.M. - Harold E. Stoering Jr., 55, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in Logan. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Kulback, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Logan Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Stoering was born in Liberal, Kan. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. For many years he owned and operated the Harley-Davidson cycle shop in Liberal and before moving to Logan managed an apartment house in Amarillo. He moved to Logan 10 years ago and operated the B & B Cycle Shop. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Agnes Stoering of Logan; and a sister, Carolyn Wallesen of Las Vegas, Nev. The body will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. until noon today at the funeral home. YUMA, Ariz. - Walter W. "Bill" Riley Jr., 69, formerly of Amarillo and Groom, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Yuma. No services will be held. Arrangements were by Yuma Mortuary & Crematory. Mr. Riley was born in Kenton, Tenn. He was a retired maintenance manager. Survivors include five children, Dana McLaughlin of Amarillo, Jim Riley of Panhandle,Texas, Diane Garcia of Odessa, Texas, Debbi Grant of Jonesboro, Texas and Gary Riley of Canton, Texas; two sisters, Linda Stanfil and Wyona Anderson, both of Columbia, Tenn.; two brothers, Wayne Riley and John Riley, both of Columbia; and nine grandchildren. ROARING SPRINGS - Pauline Hand, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Roaring Springs Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Paducah by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Hand was born in Dumont. She graduated from high school in Lamesa. She had lived in Roaring Springs since 1951. She had worked at a grocery store and a drug store in Matador. She had worked as a bookkeeper for a cotton gin and in a variety store at Roaring Springs. She also was a retired rural mail carrier. Mrs. Hand was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roaring Springs, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Motley County Arts and Crafts Club, the Roaring Springs Community Volunteers and the Spur Art Guild. She married Billy Hand in 1946 at Weatherford. Survivors include her husband; a son, Rhett Kelly Hand of Lubbock; three daughters, Trudy LaVrae Hand of Wolfforth, Bonita Barton of Magnolia, Ark., and Kim Hand of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
