Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Loftus was born in Gray County and grew up in Amarillo. She was head cheerleader at Amarillo High School in 1929. She attended Oklahoma University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She later farmed and ranched near Pampa with her mother and brother. In the 1950s and 1960s, she was coadviser for the Pampa High School Sigma Delta Sub Deb Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Altrusa Club, the Pampa Fine Arts Association, Texas Art Alliance, the Pampa Club and Pampa Community Concerts. She married Walter J. Loftus in 1935 at Dallas. He died in 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Maynette Loftus Scott of Amarillo; a sister, Maydelle Sanders Hoover of Fort Worth; and two granddaughters. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Daily News, Aug. 8, 2000 Clint Lundry HEREFORD - Clint Lundry, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Central Church of Christ with Tom Bailey, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Lundry was born in Indiahoma, Okla. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1922 from Texhoma, Okla. He was a mechanic and a member of Central Church of Christ. He married Dorothy Stewart in 1940 at Hereford. Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Lee Roy Burges of Hereford, C.V. Burges of Rockport and C.E. Davis TURKEY - Lynn C. Davis, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ with the Rev. Davis Price and Stuart Smith officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis was born in Umpire, Ark. During World War II he served with the Army Air Corps in the Philippines. He farmed in Turkey and was a member of the Hall County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for many years. He married Belle Driskill in 1942 at Estelline. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe Mark Davis of Turkey; two sisters, Norene Crump of Rowlett and Imogene Price of Canyon; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Amarillo Daily News, Aug. 8, 2000 J.C. Emmert SHAMROCK - J.C. Emmert, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Shamrock Cemetery with Mark Thomas officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mr. Emmert was born in Wellington. He was a rancher most of his life and lived in Shamrock the past nine years. Mr. Latham was born in Utopia. He was a retired master sergeant in the Air Force, having served 21 years as an education technician. He owned R&L Upholstery in Junction for 17 years and R&L Corner Grocery Store for five years before moving to Hereford in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Crane and the Baptist church. He was a musician. He married Linda Pinkston in 1976 at Odessa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonja Johnson. Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Brenda DePauw, Lelonnie Morgan and Rhonda Pearson, all of San Angelo, Stacy Bridwell of Hereford, Kim Smith of Bedford and Zaylee Latham of Amarillo; two sons, Kevin Simmons of Austin and Keith Latham of Bishop; a brother, Jimmy Latham of Odessa; a sister, Sue Banquert of Odessa; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Aug. 8, 2000 Orlando E. Ames Jr. Orlando E. Ames Jr., 78, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, in Albuquerque, N.M. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Westview Christian Church in Amarillo. Mr. Ames was born in Reading, Mass. He served in the Navy four years and in the Army eight years. He was a member of American Legion Hanson Post No. 54, where he served as commander and sergeant at arms. He also served as a state sergeant at arms for the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Ames; and by a daughter, Frances Velasquez. Survivors include his wife, Rose Ames; a son, Orlando E. Ames III of Amarillo; five daughters, Claire Kester, Bea Garland, Sandra Harris, Shirley Boone and Loretta Jiminez, all of Amarillo; several step-children; 16 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery at Clarendon by Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Calloway was born and attended schools in Shady Grove. He lived in Amarillo several years. He was a detail and shop person for Chamberlain Motor Co. at Clarendon. He was a member of the Prayer Temple Church of God in Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Calloway; and by three sons, Velma, Charlie and John Steven Calloway. Mrs. Lopez was born in Amarillo and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Faustino Lopez in 1951. Mr. Jeffcoat was born in Blue Ridge. He was a graduate of West Texas Barber College. During the Korean War he served in the Army. He moved from Plainview to Amarillo in 1955. He owned Jack's Barber Shop and worked for Osgood Monument Co., retiring in 1990. He was a Mason. He was a member of Amarillo Singles Dance Club and Grand Avenue Baptist Church. He married Frances Rannals in 1948 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Young and Landria Baker, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Leslie Harwood and Ken Barnett officiating. Mr. Cross was born in Gainesville, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from K. Barnett & Sons after 32 years as a truck driver. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Lodge. He married Betty Woltmon in 1948 at Carson City, Nev. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery at Wichita Falls, Texas. Military honors to be rendered by Shephard Air Force Base Honor Guard. Mr. Sherwood was born in Wichita Falls. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. He moved to Clovis in the early 1960s and worked for the city of Clovis eight years. He operated a secondhand store. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3015 and the Military Order of Cootie. He also was a member of the American Legion Post No. 25 in Clovis. Survivors include a son, Frank Lee Sherwood of Dallas; and three brothers, Lee Sherwood of Lufkin, Texas, Marvin Sherwood of Wichita Falls and Jim Sherwood of Oklahoma City. Amarillo Daily News, Aug. 8, 2000 Oklahoma Goldie A. Gantt HOOKER, Okla. - Goldie A. Gantt, 92, formerly of Hooker, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in Guymon. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Hooker Church of Christ with John Maynard and Neville Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Gantt was born in Lincoln County. She moved to the Hooker area in 1917 from Ozark County, Mo. She worked for Sears Variety Store, was a bookkeeper for Bollinger Chevrolet and then went to work for Southern Union Gas Co., retiring in 1973. She was a member of Hooker Church of Christ. She moved to Guymon six years ago. She married Archie O. Judd in 1926 at Guymon. He died in 1937. She married Henry Creel Gantt in 1938 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1954. Survivors include a son, Alvin Judd of Emporia, Kan.; a daughter, Jean Newburn of Hooker; two stepsons, Ryal Gantt of Sun City, Ariz., and Dwyatt Gantt of St. Louis; two stepdaughters, Winifred Robertson of Houston and Billie Jane McDonald of Tulare, Calif.; three grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Arrangements are by Criswell Funeral Home of Ada, Okla. Mrs. Cummings was born in Stratford, Texas. She graduated from Stratford High School. She moved to Roff from Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She married William E. "Billy " Cummings in 1947 at Stratford. He died in 1991. Survivors include three sons, Kevin Cummings of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kyle Cummings of Roff and Tim Cummings of Oklahoma City; and four granddaughters.
