Mr. Skerratt was born in Traverse City, Mich., and had lived in Amarillo for 15 years. He attended Michigan State University and served with the Army at Fort Knox. In 1995 he retired after 30 years with State Farm Insurance. He was a former member of the Rotary and Jaycees. He married Noreene in 1953 at Traverse City. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 8, 2000 Canyon William Charles Donnell William Charles "Shorty" Donnell, 79, of Canyon, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Fellowship Church with Garvin McCarrell, pastor, and Phil Mercado, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Donnell was born and raised in Silverton where he graduated from high school in 1938. During World War II he served aboard the Navy carrier Savo Island. For many years he was a commercial and residential builder in Amarillo, Tulia and Silverton. In 1955 Mr. Donnell purchased a cattle ranch at Sapello, N.M. In 1966 he moved to the ranch and built and operated guest cabins. He returned to Canyon in 1977. Mr. Donnell was involved with the American Quarter Horse Association and the Texas 4-H program. He was a leader in the Randall County 4-H Horse Club and was involved in fund raising events in 4-H and Quarter Horse activities. He started the Big 5 4-H horse show and the Hall of Fame Quarter Horse Circuit in Amarillo. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hereford, Mr. Donnell was a past deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas, N.M., and a past elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulia. He married Winona Christene Carthel in 1941 at Levelland. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Katrina Kimble of Canyon and Tammy Reynolds of Fort Worth; a son, Gery Donnell of Perryton; a brother, R.J. Donnell of Kansas; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 8, 2000 New Mexico Norman Steveson CLOVIS, N.M. - Norman Steveson, 62, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000. Memorial services were at 5 p.m. Saturday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas P. Jones officiating. Mr. Steveson was born in Peoria, Ill. He moved to New Mexico in 1962. He served with the police department and sheriff's office. In 1971 he moved to Wyoming where he was in the salvage business. He later returned to Clovis. He married Mary Dee Gilreath in 1957. Mrs. Davis was born in the Oslo community and attended Prairie View Country School. She was involved with Rainbow Girls and served as Worthy Adviser during her senior year at Guymon High School. She graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1942. She worked at City National Bank until her marriage to Floyd A. Davis in 1946. She worked as a bookkeeper for Stanfield Printing Co. for more than 40 years. She and her husband owned the A&W Drive-In Restaurant. Mrs. Davis was a charter member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and a past member of the Entre Nous Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the adult Sunday school class, Women's Group and Presbytery-Anns. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was church treasurer for 36 years. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sharon Marie Morgan of Johnstown, Colo.; a sister, Carrie Sanford of Guymon; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Don Chase officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Holland was born near Guymon. She attended Browns Corner country school and Seward County Junior College. She was a homemaker and involved in retail sales. Mrs. Holland was a member of First Christian Church and the High-Plains Daughters of the American Revolution. She was OSDAR state historian and was past High-Plains DAR regent. She married W.Everett Holland in 1938 at Hugoton, Kan. She was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Allen Holland. She cooked for restaurants in Merkel and had a hamburger stand across from the Merkel Elementary School. She was a member of the Trent First Baptist Church and a past member of the Merkel Order of Eastern Star. She married Truman Trammell Carey in 1928 at Taylor County. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Bermudes was born in Poteet and moved to Plainview about 20 years ago. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She moved to Amarillo a year ago. She married Alberto Bermudes in 1939 at San Antonio. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Estella Leal. Survivors include a son, Ismael F. Leal Sr. of Plainview; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She volunteered at Pampa Regional Medical Center and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She married Don Evans in 1947 at Liberal, Kan. Mrs. McLellan was born in Apache, Okla., and moved to Friona in 1928 from Anadarko, Okla. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star, Hereford Chapter 312 where she was past worthy matron. She was a past mother adviser for Order of the Rainbow. Since 1930 Mrs. McLellan was a member of Friona Women's Club where she had held all offices. She was a former member of Friona, Farwell and Clovis, N.M., Bowling Associations and competed in bowling tournaments. She married Leo McLellan in 1929 at Clovis. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962 and by a daughter, Doris McLellan, in 1944. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Louise Rector of Friona; two sons, Joe McLellan and Kenneth McLellan, both of Friona; nine grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Doss was born in Tolbert and attended schools in Harold where he graduated from high school. After his marriage he lived in El Reno, Okla., until moving to Plainview in 1945. He was employed by Shephard Chevrolet for 13 years then later owned and operated Doss Automotive. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He married Aleta Faye Davidson in 1942. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don Oliver Doss of Oklahoma City and Noel Dean Doss of San Diego; a sister, Dorothy Tyler of Plainview; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Mr. Jones was born in Dalhart and raised on the Jones Ranch in Moore County. He graduated from Dumas High School then attended Panhandle State College. He served with the Marines in Vietnam. In 1960 Mr. Jones moved to Dumas from Bremerton, Wash. He was a rancher and member of First United Methodist Church of Dumas, Amarillo Gun Club and the Panhandle Hereford Breeders Association. He married Darlene Bergsma in 1958 at Bremerton. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charley Jones and Raymond Jones, both of Sunray; and seven grandchildren. He was a member of Gem Baptist Church. He married Margaret Louise Nix in 1941. She died in 1992.
