Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Barry A. Loving, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery with graveside rites by Pampa Chapter No. 65 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Nipper was born in Miami. She lived in Amarillo and Longview before moving to Pampa, where she had been a longtime resident. She worked as a cashier at J.C. Penney Co., Piggly Wiggly and Furrs Grocery, and was a clerk for Southwestern Public Service Co. She was a member of First Christian Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Nipper was preceded in death by a son, John Wayne Puckett. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Joyce Puckett; a brother, John Chesher of Pampa; three sisters, Ava Prentice of Seattle, Mary Voss of Dallas and Rebecca Sue Chesher of Abilene; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, June 8, 2000 Eddie L. Gray PAMPA - Eddie L. Gray, 89, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Doug Yates officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Gray was born in Winchester, Ky., and moved to Pampa in 1931. He was a farmer and co-owner of Gray Brothers Trucking Co. He also had served as assistant fire chief. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He married Hazel Epperson in 1931 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Bonnie Howard of Amarillo, Dorothy Edgerton of Oklahoma City and Marilyn May of Mansfield; two sisters, Ruby Thomas and Christine Castle, both of Winchester, Ky.; two brothers, Ernest Gray of Spring City, Tenn., and Aubrey Gray of Cordova, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Norman Rushing, pastor of First Baptist Church of Childress, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Scates was born in Ada, Okla. She was a homemaker. She married Bill Scates in 1933 at Ada. He died in 1996. Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Bailey, Lolita Smothermon and Carrie White, all of Childress and Billie Burnett of Merkel; a sister, Bonnie Allerdice of Green Valley, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Batson, 98, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Edwin Cooley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Batson was born in Marion County, W.Va. In 1926, he moved to the Pampa area to work in the oil field. He went to work for Cities Services in 1934, retiring in 1969 as a repairman. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Batson married Anna Burleson in 1936 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Olen Ray Batson of Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Louise Swain of Follansbee, W.Va.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Perkins. Mr. Daffern was born in Matador. He attended school in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He had worked for Harvest Queen Mill and for Culligan Soft Water. He was an independent agent of Farmers Insurance Group and retired in 1987. Mr. Daffern was a 32nd Degree Mason and a former member of the Optimist Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Nell Parsons in 1934 at Clovis, N.M. Mr. Daffern was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lynn Daffern. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Opal Zeleny of Plainview; a son, Fred Daffern of Lamesa; a brother, Roy Daffern of Plainview; a sister, Irene Hardaway of Happy; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ms. Conditt was born in Archer City. She retired as bookkeeper at Wards Department Store. She attended the Baptist Church in Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Cox, in 1977. Amarillo Daily News, June 8, 2000 Dale Clayton McEachern PLAINVIEW - Dale Clayton McEachern, 55, formerly of Plainview, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in Flagstaff, Ariz. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. McEachern was born in Los Angeles. He grew up in Halfway and graduated from Plainview High School. He graduated from Texas Tech, earning a degree in accounting. He moved to Kansas City, where he worked as a commercial insurance auditor and returned to Halfway in 1969. In 1976, he began working for the Federal Land Bank and in 1984, for Mac Tools as a distributor and later a district manager. He moved to Flagstaff in 1990, where he worked as a diesel mechanic. Mr. McEachern married Janet Magee in 1964 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Denise Hall of Flagstaff; a son, Clayton McEachern of Flagstaff; his mother, Nell McEachern of Plainview; a brother, Ken McEachern of Lubbock; a sister, Linda Cranmer of Plainview; and two grandchildren. Grant in 1935 at Memphis. He died in 1992. She was a truck driver for the City of Amarillo and had also worked for Amarillo Public Schools. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Bockelman was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Bockelman; and a son, Richard Lee Barnes Jr. Survivors include five sons, Robert Lee Barnes, Carl Wayne Barnes and Floyd Allen Barnes, all of Amarillo, George Barnes of Hot Springs, Ark., and Roger Dean Barnes of Lone Oak; two daughters, Julie Ann Horton and Stella Ruth Barnes-Wright, both of Amarillo; her mother, Stella Mae Davis, Amarillo; a sister, Gladys Marie Lindow of Amarillo; three stepchildren, Steve Bockelman of Joplin, Mo., Kevin Reed of Amarillo and Sherlon Morris of Enochs; and eight grandchildren.
