He had been in the Army since 1938 and served during World War II and the Korean War, retiring in 1961. Mr. Voss worked for the Department of Defense at the Strategic Communication Command in Huachuca City, Ariz. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Hermie Burgess. She died in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Jannie Bangs of Austin and Judy Dorsey of Amarillo; a son, John Voss of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Rebecca Slate of Granite City, Ill.; two brothers, C.W. There will be a private family burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Burton was born in Bard, N.M. and attended school in San Jon, N.M. He served in the Navy from 1951-55 during the Korean War. He graduated from New Mexico State Police Academy in 1965. He was stationed at Springer, N.M. and transferred to Roy, N.M. in 1968. Mr. Burton worked for Deaf Smith County Sheriff's Department, where he acted as chief deputy sheriff. He was a licensed polygraph examiner in Texas and New Mexico and a certified instructor with the National Safety Council for Defensive Driving. Following his law enforcement career he was a truck driver for Crete Carrier Corp. of Lincoln, Neb. He was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church. He married Betty Malode in 1969 at Roy. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Arthur Dean Burton of Nevada, Eddie Lee Burton of California, Darren Blain Burton of Amarillo, and Terry Mackey and Troy Mackey, both of Utah; a sister, Odessa Farrow of Roswell, N.M.; a brother, Jack Burton of Thrall; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Hinds was born in Stinnett, Texas, and was a lifetime Clovis resident. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1947 and received a football scholarship to the University of New Mexico. He retired from Santa Fe Railway after 42 years. He served in the New Mexico National Guard for 11 years and attained the rank of captain. He married Stella Faye Howard in 1949 at Clovis. He was preceded in death by a son, David M. Hinds, in July. Mr. Rowland served in the Navy during World War II and was a disabled veteran. He designed hunting equipment. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Resthaven Funeral Home, Abbey Chapel, at Lubbock. Mrs. Vail was born in Spur. She lived in Pampa 20 years until moving to Arizona in 1965. She moved to Lubbock 30 years ago. She earned a bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico in 1932 and a master's degree at the University of Arizona in 1968. Mrs. Vail was a member of various professional and social organizations. She was an art teacher and professional portrait painter, receiving several commissions for portrait painting in the state of Texas. She married Robert P. Vail in 1942 at Lubbock. He died in 1967. Survivors include a son, Robert "Robin" Vail of Lubbock; a daughter, Julia Vail Smith of Great Falls, Mont.; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Robert P. She married Loren Cargal in 1948 at Vernon. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cala Louise Pruitt, in 1944. They later operated a vending route until retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Booker Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; and by a son, Gordon Lewis. She attended Pampa schools. She had been a resident of White Deer since 1992. She was a volunteer office clerk at the Gray County Red Cross office in Pampa for three years and was a longtime babysitter. She was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God, where she worked in the nursery. She married Don Claybourne McInturf in 1971 at Fairfax, Okla. Survivors include a son, Rocky Don McInturf of White Deer; four sisters, Jodi Hill of Pampa, Sandy Davis of White Deer, Kristi Lou Punches of Denver and Dolly Cowan of Panhandle; two brothers, Gary Punches of Oklahoma City, and Gerry Punches of Denton; and a stepmother, Betty Punches of White Deer.
