Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Schnetzer was born in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Brendan School in Columbus. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his mother, Marian Schnetzer of Miami Beach, Fla.; a brother, Peter Vincent Schnetzer of Miami Beach; and a sister, Cory Ann Marie Schnetzer of West Virginia. The body will not be available for viewing. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2000 SOPHAPMYSAY Khamla Sophapmysay Khamla Sophapmysay, 59, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 7, 2000. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road, with monks from the Buddhist Temple officiating. Cremation will be by Memorial Park Crematory. Mr. Sophapmysay moved to the United States in 1976 from Laos. During the Vietnam War he served as a captain in the U.S. Army's Special Forces. He moved to Amarillo in 1980 from California. He worked for IBP Inc. 20 years. He was a member of Laos Veterans of America Inc. and was a Buddhist. Survivors include his wife, Thongshuanh; a daughter, Linda of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sons, Tommy and Kevin of the home, and Kham of Amarillo; and a grandson. The body will be available for viewing at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2000 Tommy Dixon Tommy Dixon, 93, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 9, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Wendell Leach of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dixon was born in Guymon, Okla. He was a retired railroad engineer and farmer. He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, William Dixon Jr. of Boulder, Colo.; a stepson, Bill Bynum of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Sue Bowen of Amarillo; a brother, Otis Leroy Dixon of Amarillo; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Dinwiddie was born in Knoxville, Tenn. He moved to Amarillo aver serving in the Navy as a signalman. He was a member of City View Baptist Church in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his father, Olin "Rip" Dinwiddie. He is survived by his mother, Blanche Naugher Dinwiddie of Amarillo. Mrs. Cheyne was born in Lazbuddie and graduated from Lazbuddie High School. She lived in Clovis, N.M. before moving to Amarillo. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She married Ray Cheyne in 1929 at Lazbuddie. He died in 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Laura Croom of Duncan, Ariz., and Brenda Talley of Amarillo; two sons, Ron Cheyne of Granbury and Royce Cheyne of Cleburne; a sister, Clara Brown of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Miss Dickens was born in Fort Worth. She attended schools in Tulia and Graham. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include three sisters, Amy Sanders of Fort Worth, Catrina Richardson of Vernon and Katherine Dannevick of Lubbock; four brothers, William Dickens, Gary Nabors and Bobby Nabors, all of Graham, and Jeff Nabors of Lufkin; her mother, Cindy Augenstein of Roswell, Ga.; her stepmother, Carol Wright Dickens of Sun City, Ariz.; her grandmother, Neva Dickens of Tulia; and her fiance, Gary Crisp of Amarillo. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2000 New Mexico Dawson Ridling MELROSE, N.M. - Dawson Ridling, 89, died Sunday, April 9, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Coy Brewer and the Rev. Lewis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery at McAlister. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Ridling was born in Dalhart and grew up on a farm near McAlister. He attended Browning School, a one-room schoolhouse. He began driving a bus for Melrose School District when he was 17 and continued until his graduation from Melrose High School in 1931. He farmed until 1935, when he and Albert Cooper contracted all the buses in the Melrose School District. He retired in 1977 and continued to farm and substitute as a school-bus driver. Mr. Ridling served on the board of the Farmers Electric Cooperative from 1949 to 1991 and was a city councilman in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a 51-year member of the Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1988. He married Irene Crabtree in 1938. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Ridling of Clovis; two daughters, Carolyn Smith of Chicago and Molly Hacker of Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2000 Elsewhere Winfred M. York AUSTIN - Winfred M. "Barney" York, 78, formerly of Panhandle, died Thursday, April 6, 2000. Memorial services will be later in Panhandle. Arrangements are by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Mr. York was born in Panhandle. He attended school in Panhandle and graduated as valedictorian in 1939. He attended the University of Texas before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. He guarded merchant ships and later was commissioned as an officer. He returned to UT in 1946 and later earned a degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He lived in Dallas and Houston before moving to Austin, where he worked for Calcasieu Lumber and the city of Austin Health Department. He retired in 1987. Survivors include a sister, Sybil D. Harrell of Groom; and a brother, Charles Weldon York of Austin. The family suggests memorials be to Carson County Square House Museum in Panhandle. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond McKeever, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Dunson was born in Jacksboro. She moved to Pampa from Clarendon in the mid-1950s. She was a professional housekeeper. She was a member of St. Mark's C.M.E. Church. She married Thurmon Dunson in 1955 at Pampa. He died in 1990. Survivors include a nephew, Curtis McNeal of Houston. Amarillo Daily News, April 11, 2000 Francisca Herrera TULIA - Francisca Herrera, 74, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000. Prayer services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ms. Herrera was born in Hondo and moved to Tulia in 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of the Spanish Assembly of God. Survivors include three sisters, Gregoria Perez and Delores Leija, both of Canyon and Julia Lopez of Happy; four brothers, Juan Herrera of Golden, Colo., Antonio Herrera and Isaac Herrera, both of Amarillo, and Santos Herrera of Lubbock; and nieces and nephews that she raised, Esther Quintanilla of Canyon and Jennifer Quintanilla, Steve Quintanilla and Billy Rosas, all of Amarillo. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2000 Lela Mae Muse Norton CLARENDON - Lela Mae Muse Norton, 89, died Monday, April 10, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Tamplen, pastor of Kingswood United Methodist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Norton was born in Knox County and was a resident of Amarillo before moving to Clarendon in 1929. She married Lee Alonzo Muse in 1926 at Throckmorton. She and her husband owned and operated Lee's Cafe for 40 years and Lee's Cabins for 20 years. Lee Muse died in 1975. Mrs. Norton wrote a newspaper column, "Let George Do It," during the 1950s. She was a former Sunday school teacher and had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon since 1931. She married Charlie Norton in 1982 at Amarillo. He died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Cora Lee Heckman of Pampa; a son, Sid Muse of Grove, Okla.; two sisters, Margaret Ellis of Fort Worth and Ruby Stice of Midland; six grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Mrs. Ellard was born in Bennington, Okla. and lived in Moore County since 1957. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She married Glen Ellard in 1933 at Direct. He died in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Thressa Carrell of Dumas; two sons, Joe Ellard of Dumas and Jack Ellard of Phoenix; her stepmother, Nadine O'Bannon of Dumas; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lockstone Funeral Home, The Chapel, in Weatherford, Okla., with Scott Page, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford. Mr. Spain was born in North Hollywood, Calif. He went to school in Sunland, Calif. He moved to Weatherford in 1977, where he finished school. He was a concrete worker and truck driver. He attended Servant's Heart Church in Weatherford until he moved to Sunray, where he attended Church of Christ in Sunray. He married Deborah Dawn Ball in 1997 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Erica Spain of Sunray; a son, Seth Spain of Weatherford; his mother, Barbara Spain; his grandmother, Musetta Spain; two brothers, Preston Toussaint of Fresno, Calif., and Mark Toussaint of Weatherford; and a sister, Ronda Smith of Weatherford. The family suggests memorials be to Weatherford Police Department program to mentor children. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2000 Ophelia Martinez HALE CENTER - Ophelia Martinez, 80, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Theresa's Catholic Church with Rev. Rey Sorgon, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with the same officiant. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Martinez was born in Caldwell. She moved to Hale Center in 1951 from Burleson County. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupanas and Curisllista. She married Frank F. Martinez in 1935 at Burleson County. Survivors include five sons, Robert Martinez, Frank Martinez and Victor Martinez, all of Hale Center, Phillip Martinez of Friona and Rudy Martinez of Austin; two daughters, Linda Perez of Hale Center and Jane Cole of Florida; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
