Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Bronson was born in Electra. She was coowner/operator of a grooming and boarding kennel in Amarillo. During World War II, she served with the Navy. Her husband, Doug Bronson, was missing in action during World War II. He also served with the Navy. Survivors include a niece, Welonda Camara of Tyler; and friend Ginny Gillett of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to the Humane Society and Animal Rescue Center, 3501 S. Osage, Amarillo, TX 79102. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Shomika Donise Scott Shomika Donise Scott, 24, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 9, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Grover Neal, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by WarfordWalker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes. Miss Scott was born in Amarillo, where she attended schools. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Joyce and Alvin Ivory of Amarillo; her father, Howard Scott of Amarillo; two brothers, Brandon Ivory and Chase Ivory, both of Amarillo; a sister, Krystle Ivory of Amarillo; grandmother, Joyce Frost of Amarillo; and great-grandparents, Edward and Aldonia Barnes of Amarillo. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Larry Steven Willoughby Larry Steven Willoughby, 35, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 10, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Trinity Fellowship Church with Kit Buschman, associate senior pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Willoughby was born in Orlando, Fla., and raised in Pampa. An artist and gemologist, he moved to San Diego in 1990. In San Diego, he did volunteer work for the homeless and was a member of New Life Apostolic Church. In 1990, he moved to Amarillo, where he attended Texas State Technical Institute. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Clois Robinson of Clarendon; three brothers, Gary Willoughby of Pampa, Eddie Justice of Tallahassee, Fla., and Robert Wiseman of Arcadia, Fla.; a sister, Sherrie Slayton of Amarillo; and friend, Shannon Maxwell of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice. The body will not be available for viewing. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Esequiel Castro Sr. Esequiel "Zeke" Castro Sr., 80, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 10, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today by Deacon Leo Ramos of St. Laurence Cathedral in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Additional services will be arranged by Delcrest Funeral Home in San Antonio. Mr. Castro was born in San Antonio. During the Korean War, he served with the Army. He retired after working as a heavy equipment operator. In 1998, he moved from Kingsland to Amarillo, where he attended St. Laurence Cathedral. He married Hermalinda Garcia in 1939. She died in 1987. Survivors include a son, Zeke Castro Jr. of Amarillo; a brother, Rudy Castro of Lubbock; three sisters, Andrea and Susana, both of Fort Worth, and Dominga Castro of Hobbs, N.M.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Wesley Community Center; Senior Citizens Association; or American Cancer Society. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Jerry Edward Galloway Jerry Edward Galloway, 66, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 11, 2000. Cremation will be by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mr. Galloway was born in Paluxy. After 21 years with the Navy, he retired as a CPO E7. He was an underwater diver and demolitions expert. For five years, he lived in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center nursing home in Amarillo. Survivors include two brothers, Chuck Galloway of Amarillo and Cecil Galloway of Borger. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Elsewhere William Johnson TEMPLE - William "Papa Bill" Johnson, 91, died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Little River. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Little River with the Rev. Joe Broadway officiating, and the Rev. David Winburne and Terry Evans assisting. Burial will be in the Wilson Valley Cemetery by Sheffield Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born in the Center Lake Community and graduated from Academy High School and the Neilson Beauty College of Dallas. He worked at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio and he worked as a beautician in San Antonio, Temple, Belton, Holland and Little River. He was a member of the Texas Cosmetology Association and had served as treasurer of the Temple chapter. A member of First Baptist Church, he taught Sunday school and served as deacon. He married Gladys Lee Evans in 1930 at Killeen. She died in 1993. His grandson, Dewey Lee Winburne, died in 1999. Survivors include three daughters, Billie Friesen of San Antonio, Georgia Weathers of Amarillo, and Nancy Winburne of Little River; a son, William Reavis Johnson of Little River; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Vista Care Hospice, 819 S. Fifth, Temple, TX 76504; or Little River First Baptist Church. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Area J.E. Brooks HEREFORD - J.E. Brooks, 86, died Saturday, June 10, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in West Park Cemetery with the Rev. H. Wyatt Bartlett officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Brooks was born in Rockwall County and had lived in Hereford for more than 40 years. A farmer and rancher, he bred quarter horses and worked as a mechanic and custom harvester. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and Temple Baptist Church in Hereford. He married Hazel Hulsey in 1936 at Floydada. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine; and two sons, David and Rodney. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sylvia Brooks of Hereford; and two sisters, Effie Parker of Lockney and Hazel Stevens of Littlefield. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and Affiliates. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Jimmie Helms PAMPA - Jimmie Helms, 87, died Friday, June 9, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Charles Regal, elder of Jehovah's Witnesses in Pampa officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Helms was born in Howland and had lived in Pampa for 50 years. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Pampa. She married Fred H. Helms in 1946 at Lubbock. He died in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Wilson of Pampa; a son, Jimmy Helms of Lubbock; a sister, Ola Mae Price of Pampa; and three grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held today in Muleshoe Memorial Park with Dr. Stacy Conner, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Crouch was born in Wolfe City and moved to Muleshoe from Littlefield in 1958. During World War II, he served with the Army and the Navy. He was a Baptist. Survivors include three sisters, Ruth Hunt, Helen Hall, and Doris Scott, all of Muleshoe. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Dwight Rouse HEREFORD - Dwight Rouse, 84, died Sunday, June 11, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rose Chapel at Gililland-Watson Funeral Home with Tom Bailey, minister of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Rouse was born in Cloud Chief, Okla., and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1978. He was the owner of Rouse Shoe Store in Hereford and Farmington, N.M., and a member of Central Church of Christ in Hereford. He married Gerta Rose Galle in 1981. She died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Mickey Rouse of Nashville, Tenn., and Wendall Rouse of Arkansas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News June 12, 2000 Carlos Arellano FLOYDADA - Carlos Arellano, 67, died Saturday, June 10, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Templo Bethel of Assembly of God with the Rev. Alejandro Ruiz officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Memorial Park by Guajardo Funeral Chapel of Lubbock. Mr. Arellano was born in Brownsville and moved to Floydada in 1955. He worked as a farmhand and for First National Bank of Floydada as a custodian. He retired as a seismographer. He married Virginia Perez in 1955 at Vernon. She died in March. Survivors include three sons, Manuel Rodriguez of Plainview, Carlos P. Arellano Jr. of Victoria, and Adam P. Arellano of Floydada; three daughters, Anita R. Salas and Selia P. Arellano, both of Wyoming, Mich., and Ofilia P. Arellano of Floydada; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Kidney Foundation.
