Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with Tom Posey officiating. Arrangements are by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Bell was born in Myra and was a longtime resident of Memphis. She moved to Amarillo two years ago. She married Herman Bell Sr. in 1925 at Sayre, Okla. He died in 1982. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Herman Bell Jr., and Billy Gus Bell. Survivors include five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Bell home in Memphis. Alice Bell New Mexico CLOVIS, N.M. - Alice Bell, 79, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000. Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Herbert Bergstrom and the Rev. Joseph Vest, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Bell was born in Texas. She settled in the Ranchvale community in 1941 and later moved to Clovis. In 1962, she began working at Queens'n Teens and retired as the owner in 1998. She was a member of the Ranchvale and Central Baptist Churches, the LLL Sunday school class and the Pilot Club. She married Glenn Bell in 1941. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Keith Bell. Survivors include a son, Craig Bell of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Judy Abernathy of Clovis; a brother, Charles Petty of Ranchvale; a sister, June Montgomery of Clovis; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorials be to Clovis Lifeline; or the Baptist Children's Home in Portales. Sharon A. Boston Amarillo SHREVEPORT, La. - Sharon A. Boston, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Plainview Cemetery at Plainview, Texas, with Dr. Max Browning officiating. Arrangements are by Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Shreveport and Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Boston was born in Las Vegas, N.M., where she graduated from high school with honors. She attended Northwest Texas School of Nursing at Amarillo and graduated as a registered nurse. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of the Broadmoor United Methodist Church and the Cornerstone class in Shreveport. Survivors include her husband, William Boston; a daughter, Carol Boston of Hollywood, Fla.; two sons, David Boston of Memphis, Tenn., and Timothy Boston of Baton Rouge, La.; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the music department at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 3715 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105. Don R. Burris Amarillo Don R. Burris, 66, of Amarillo, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Billie S. Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Post, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum North by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Burris was born in Retrop, Okla. He moved from Lubbock to Amarillo in 1958. He was owner and general manager of Amarillo Grain Exchange Inc., and in 1978 was named the area's head grain inspector by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Federal Grain Inspection Service. He was a member of the Panhandle Grain & Feed Dealers Association, the American Grain Inspectors & Weighing Association and the Tri-State Grain Inspection Association. He was director and past president of the Terminal Grain Weighmasters National Association, which named him man of the year in 1970. He had also served as chairman of the Weighmaster Study Commission of the Texas Weights and Measures Association. Mr. Burris had been a member of the Amarillo Traffic Club and had served as president of the North Amarillo Booster Club. He married Judy Riggs in 1991 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma Burris, in 1988. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Misty R. McDermott of Amarillo; three sons, Jodie W. Burris of Rockledge, Fla., and Donald R. Burris Jr. and Cash D. Burris, both of Amarillo; his stepmother, Kathleen Burris of Kissimmee, Fla.; a sister, Kathy McGuyer of Hesperia, Calif.; five brothers, Robert M. Burris of Panama City, Fla., Ernest Gene Burris of Bonaire, Ga., Tony Burris of Whitney; Mike Burris of Kissimmee and Curtis Burris of Washington, D.C.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Vera Ione Cantrell Amarillo TEXARKANA - Vera Ione Cantrell, 88, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000. Services were at 1 p.m. Thursday in Texarkana Funeral Home, Fuqua-Everett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Walker and Dr. Terry Land officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery at Canadian with Roger Smelser officiating. Mrs. Cantrell was born in Eddie County, N.M. She was a longtime resident of Canadian. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo K. Cantrell, in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Betty C. South of Texarkana; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hemphill County Library, Canadian, TX 79014. The body will not be available for viewing. Valaree Crabb Amarillo Valaree Crabb, 75, of Amarillo, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Paul White, minister of Olsen Park Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Crabb was born in Wheeler County and had lived in Amarillo for the past 53 years. She was a homemaker. She married M.C. "Rusty" Crabb in 1947 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Conley Crabb, in 1996. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Don Crabb and James Crabb, both of Amarillo; a sister, Joy Riley of Amarillo; and a brother, James H. Riley of Sweeny; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001. Cecilia A. Diaz Amarillo Cecilia A. Diaz, 69, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Diaz was born in Amarillo and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Gilbert Diaz in 1948 at Amarillo. Her son, Andy Joe Diaz, died in 1994. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mary Ester Ramirez of Amarillo; three sons, Gilbert Diaz Jr., Robert Joe Diaz and Joe Thomas Diaz, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 307 N. Louisiana. Percy Lynn Fielding Area DALHART - Percy Lynn Fielding, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Stratford. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Fielding was born and raised in Chautauqua, Kan., and graduated from high school there. During World War II, he served in the Navy. He had recently moved to Dalhart from Tucumcari, N.M. He was a member of the York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shrine and Masonic Lodge No. 27 of Tucumcari. Mr. Fielding married Mildred Johnson in 1946 at Oswego, Kan. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pat Forry of Dalhart; two sons, Mike Fielding of Brackettville and Aaron Fielding of Chula Vista, Calif.; five grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Shrine Burn Unit or Crippled Children's Hospital, in care of El Maida Shrine Temple, 6331 Alabama St., El Paso, TX 79904. Ross Dean Gideon Area PANHANDLE - Ross Dean Gideon, 75, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Powell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Gideon was born in Panhandle and was a lifetime resident. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a civil service aircraft heliarc welder. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Promise Keepers. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Gideon; two sons, Marde Gideon of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Pete Gideon of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Junella Gideon of San Antonio and Lorilie Shell of Corpus Christi; a brother, Gene Gideon; and a sister, Lydia Holmes of Borger; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Modeena Glatfelder New Mexico CLOVIS, N.M. - Modeena "Keekaw" Glatfelder, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales with the Rev. Steve Kulback, pastor of Logan Baptist Church, officiating and Scott Reeves assisting. Burial will be in Elida Cemetery. Mrs. Glatfelder was born in Oklahoma City. After marrying Douglas Glatfelder in 1936 at Pawnee, Okla., they moved to Capitan and then Elida, where they owned and operated Douglas' Grocery and Market. In 1969, they moved to Clovis, where they owned Doug's Pack a Snack Grocery and later the Village Pawn and Gift Shop, where they worked until their retirement. In Elida, she was a member of the Birthday Club, the Woman's Club and Elida Methodist Church. She later became a member of the Kingswood Methodist Church in Clovis. Her husband died in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Jerry Harris of Logan and Carolyn Rodriguez of Clovis; a brother, Elmer Travis of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Lois Brown of Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
