Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Mr. Chavez was born in Clovis, N.M., and moved to Amarillo in 1973. He served as a Specialist E4 in the Army and received a purple heart in the Vietnam War. He worked in construction. Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Galan of Houston; his mother, Cruz Romero Chavez of Amarillo; two brothers, Margarito R. Chavez and Paul R. Chavez, both of Amarillo; six sisters, Toni C. Moreno of Irving, Arlene C. Balderas of Canyon, Sandra C. Zarazua of Dimmitt, and Chris C. Jimenez, Laura C. Harris, and Debra C. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Dan Moser of First Church of Christian Scientist reading. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Putnam was born in Eldorado, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1926. He designed and operated Putnam Motels and Putnam Apartments and helped organize the Garage Man's Association and the Panhandle Motel Association. He was also the owner and operator of Palo Duro Tune-up and he was a photographer for the Caravan News. He had been a member of Christian Science and a member of the mother church and the Christian Science Association. He was a Khiva Shriner and in the drum and bugle corps. He married Elsie Luttrell in 1931 at Dallas. She died in 1965. His daughter, Mary Ann Barnard, died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Evelyn Edwards of Irving; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today and funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Rosendo Herrera of St. Laurence Cathedral officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Anzaldua was born in Beeville and served with the Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a welder and served as deputy sheriff in Floyd, Swisher, Lubbock, and Galveston counties. In 1982, he moved to Texas City and retired in 1998 as the supervisor of maintenance for the Texas City LaMarque School District. He married Nico Rivera in 1961 at Plainview. She married Jack Barnett in 1941 in Plainview and helped him operate Jack's Appliance Service. Her son, Gary Dale Barnett, died in 1993. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Barnett Henry and Deborah Barnett Miller, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Willie McCormick of Floydada and Nadine Barnett of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News March 13, 2000 Oklahoma Gene Davis BEAVER, Okla. - Gene Davis, 73, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Abilene. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Beaver United Methodist Church with John Breon officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Clearlake by Clark Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was born near Elmwood and graduated from Beaver High School in 1943. He attended Oklahoma A&M at Stillwater and served with the Army during World War II. In 1948, he began working for First National Bank in Beaver and eight years later, moved to Abilene, Texas to work at First State Bank. In 1965, he graduated from Southwestern School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Mr. Davis was a member of the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He was a member of West Abilene Kiwanis, the Athletic Committee of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, and the Abilene Rotary Club. He was a past board member of the West Texas Fair, past president of the Taylor County Tuberculosis Association, past treasurer of the United Way, past president of the Abilene Chapter of American Institute of Banking, treasurer of the Abilene Area Square and Round Dance Association, and became president of Olton State Bank in 1990. He retired in 1993. He married Norma Fuller in 1948. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Sherry Breidenbach of Abilene, Maxine Davis of Grapevine, Texas, Trudy Davis of Garland, Texas, and Marcy Gardner of Weatherford, Texas; four sisters, Irene Crabb of Newton, Kan., Vera Morrison and twin Geneva Morrison, both of Wichita, Kan., and Vida Scraper of Hiawatha, Kan.; five grandchildren. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and later with the Army during World War II. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949, worked as a civil engineer for the Texas Highway Department, and was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was active in nursing home ministry and was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Mayesie Mathews in 1952 at Bangs. Mr. Griffin was born in Franklin and served with the Army Corp of Engineers from 1922-23. He moved to Pampa in 1934 from Luling and worked for Mobil Oil until his retirement in 1965. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pampa. He married Ellen King in 1926 at Mexia. She died in 1995. She was a grocery store clerk and a member of First Baptist Church of Sudan. She was a member of the Bovina Order of Eastern Star. She married Grammar Samuel Martin in 1929 at Frederick, Okla. He died in 1969. She married T.L. Dunlap in 1983. He died in 1984. Her daughter, Jimmie Lou Humphrey, died in 1997.
