Law Jr. CHILDRESS - Raymond O. Law Jr., 74, of Vernon, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Rushing of First Baptist Church of Childress officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Mr. Law was born in Childress. He was a Navy veteran and retired as an inspector for the railroad. He married Edith Morris in 1946 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Phyllis Catherall of Burkburnett; a brother, Bill Law of Childress; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 14, 2000 Eunice Gordon SHATTUCK - Eunice Gordon, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000. A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in United Methodist Church in Shattuck with the Rev. Jess Willsie, the Rev. Lenn Murray and the Rev. Melvin Rittenhouse officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday in Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, Okla., by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck. Mrs. Gordon was born in Seiling where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1929. She received her teaching degree from Oklahoma College for Women and later received her master's degree in home economics from Oklahoma State University. In 1940, Mrs. Gordon moved from Sayre to Shattuck where she taught home economics at Shattuck High School, retiring in 1975. In 1995, she was awarded an Honorary Membership in the Oklahoma Association of Future Homemakers of America Vocational and Technical Education. She was a member of the Re-Organized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an associate member of the United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Eastern Star, National Vocational Teachers Association, the Retired Teachers Association, Federated Women's Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. In 1992, she moved to Oklahoma City. She married Z.V. Gordon in 1938 at Seiling. He died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Willsie and Ann Farrar, both of Shattuck; a brother, Eldon Ballinger of Dallas; and two grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to Susanna Wesley Center of Epworth Villa Retirement Center or to the Mission Hospice of Oklahoma City. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 14, 2000 Dorothy White Hall CLARENDON - Dorothy White Hall, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Citizens Cemetery with Wilbert Bernabe of Clarendon officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc., of Clarendon. Mrs. Hall was born in Clarendon to pioneer residents. She attended schools in Clarendon and Clarendon Junior College. She lived in California from 1936 until 1946 when she moved to Amarillo. She returned to Clarendon in 1972. She worked for Dr. Stickland in Clarendon. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She married Herbert Campbell in 1936 at Los Angeles. He died in 1946. Her second marriage was to Tennent Dandridge Hall in 1958 at Amarillo. He died in 1974. Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Benson of Clarendon; and a brother, Robert S. White of Fort Worth. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Temple Baptist Church in Dumas with the Rev. Toby Huckabee, son-in-law and pastor of Illinois Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark., and the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Abbott was born in Oklahoma City and lived in Dumas from 1979 until 1996 when she moved to Canyon. She was a homemaker and member of Temple Baptist Church. She worked for the Green Acres School cafeteria in Dumas. She married Cliff Abbott in 1996 at Dumas. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Rosa Lee Huckabee of Cane Hill, Ark.; two sons, Larry Bontke and Wesley Bontke, both of Dumas; a sister, Betty Lou Weige of Dumas; two brothers, Edward Wilkins of Plainview and Floyd Wilkins of California; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Fowler was born in Perryton and was a lifetime resident. A 1999 graduate of Perryton High School, he was a freshman at West Texas A&M University. He participated in football and basketball and was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was a Fellowship of Christian Athletes finalist for Texas Athlete of the Year. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Danny and Una Jo Fowler of Perryton; two brothers, Jeremy Ray Fowler and Christopher Shane Fowler, both of Perryton; and his grandparents, Donald Fowler of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Green of McLean and Joan Mahaney of Guymon, Okla. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan. Mr. Weldon was born in Hydro, Okla., and moved to Sudan in 1948. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Devear Freiley in 1954 at Sudan. He is survived by his wife. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Boggs was born in Colgate, Okla. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Tulia. She married Hayden Boggs in 1933 at Colgate. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and by a daughter, Joyce Hancock, in 1988. Survivors include a son, Rick Boggs of Plainview; a daughter, Neysa Friemmel of Groom; a sister, Frances Hodges of Redding, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mrs. Robertson was born in Collin County and attended schools in Plano. In 1925, she moved to Floydada then moved to Bedford in 1993. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Joe R. Robertson Sr. in 1924. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a son, Joe Robertson Jr., and a daughter, Glenna Walls. Survivors include six sons, James Robertson of Marble Falls, Melvin Robertson of Grapevine, Bob Robertson of Fort Worth, Earl Robertson of Huntsville, Kenneth Robertson of Baytown and Jerry Robertson of The Woodlands; three daughters, Patsy Dunn of Lubbock, Patricia Goss of New Carey and Karen Pratt of Katy; 29 grandchildren; and 33 greatgrandchildren. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Neeley was born in Mountainburg, Ark., and moved to Skellytown in 1948 from Panhandle. She was a member of the Skellytown Church of Christ. She married Bernard Neeley in 1935 at Panhandle. He died in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Nell Marie Neeley of Walla Walla, Wash.; a son, Jerry Edward Neeley of Skellytown; a brother, Orbie McAllister of Ozark, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Ken Keller officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Podzemny was born and raised in Nazareth. She married Ervin Podzemny in 1934 and they began farming in Umbarger. In 1949, they moved to their farm southwest of Amarillo. She was a charter member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was active in St. Veronica's Altar Society. Her husband died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Podzemny, in 1939. Survivors include 10 children, Eugene Podzemny of Sedan, N.M., Linda Reiser of Albuquerque, N.M., David Podzemny of Marshall, Tim Podzemny of Canyon and Daniel Podzemny, Diana Harp, Sharon Childers, Carolyn Hodges, Mary Podzemny and Gary Podzemny, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Conrad Rickwartz of Las Vegas and Joe Rickwartz of Canyon; a sister, Irene Kleman of Burnett; 38 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. McCurdy J.R. McCurdy, 78, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Wendell Taylor, Veterans Administration chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. McCurdy was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1937. He then graduated from Denver University. During World War II, he served as an A20 gunner in the Pacific theater with the Fifth Army Air Corps. Mr. McCurdy retired after 35 years with sales for Employers Insurance of Texas. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a charter member of the Randall County Sheriff's Posse. He volunteered more than 5,000 hours from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1475 at the Veterans Medical Center of Amarillo. Survivors include a son, Jimmy McCurdy of Spokane, Wash.; and a daughter, Ann Vandenberg of Dallas. The family suggest, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219. Mr. Shires was born in Haggerman and moved to Amarillo in 1940 from Lubbock. He retired as a firefighter for the civil service and was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Imogene Motheral in 1935 at Lubbock. He was preceded in death by a son, Carlton Gene Shires, in 1991. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Shires of Plano; a daughter, Micki Lewis of Melissa; two brothers, Gayle Shires of Mead View, Ariz., and Dick Shires of Olympia, Wash.; a sister, Lyndall Wilkerson of Prescott, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery at Las Vegas by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Summers was born in Kansas City, Mo. She lived in Taos from 1944 to 1964, in Las Vegas until 1992 and then in Clovis. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute and was a fashion illustrator in New York City for Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue. Her work has been featured in Family Circle magazine and displayed in galleries in Taos, Santa Fe and Las Vegas. During World War II, she worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. She retired from the New Mexico Health and Welfare Department after 23 years as a social worker in Taos and Las Vegas. Mrs. Summers earned a bachelor's degree in social work from New Mexico Highlands University. Survivors include two sons, Allen Summers of Austin, Texas, and Stephen Summers of Clovis; a daughter, Gayle Crumpley of Conroe, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church by the Rev. Daniel M. Balizan. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Cortez was born in Texas. After moving to Clovis, she was a dishwasher at Snazzy Pig and Busy Bee restaurants. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. She married Gregorio Cortez in 1935 at Garland, Texas. He died in 1992. She also was preceded in death by a son, Aniseto Cantu. Survivors include four sons, Martin Cortez of Albuquerque, Domingo Cortez of Anaheim, Calif., and Felix Cortez and Tony Cortez, both of Clovis; two daughters, Lupe Montoya of Clovis and Mary Nancy Tenorio of Carson, Calif.; two sisters, Susie Griego of Amarillo and Santos Cantu Johnson of Seattle; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren;and 14 greatgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Pendleton was born in Simpson, La., and moved to Clovis in 1952. She had been a 48-year member of Central Baptist Church and was in Sunday school. She also was a member of a bridge club. She married Warren Pendleton in 1942 at Mansfield, La. He died in February. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Hanks and Kathy Mapes, both of Clovis; a sister, Grace Shetley of Mansfield, La.; four grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. Mr. Inman was born in Depew, Okla. In 1962, he moved from Littlefield, Texas to Clovis where he was a barber at Bob's Styling and Barber Salon. He married Norma Lee Colson in 1957 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert D. Inman and Danny Lee Inman, both of Clovis; a daughter, Keri Lynn Pattison of Clovis; a brother, Barry Pederson of Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Anita Manley of Tracey, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Rose Chapel Funeral Service with the Rev. Joe Peery officiating. Burial was in Mulberry Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was born in Calico Rock, Ark. She moved with her family from Arkansas to Erick in 1926. She also lived in Sweetwater, California and Elk City before settling in Sayre. She worked as a nurse's aide in the Sayre Hospital. Survivors include a brother, James Ray of Sayre; nieces and nephews.
