Johnson PAMPA - Mabel A. Johnson, 96, formerly of Pampa, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Metairie, La. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors, Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jay Hutchens, pastor of the Lindenwood Christian Church of Memphis, Tenn., officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa. Mrs. Johnson was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., and had lived in Chillicothe. She moved to McLean in 1942 and then to Pampa in 1944. She moved to Metairie in 1997. She was a member of The Gleaners Ladies Class and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pampa, where she had taught children's classes and was a nursery attendant. She married Dewey Johnson of Dallas in 1920. He died in 1961. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Virgil in 1984 and George in 1992; and a daughter, Lorraine Renck in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Hutchens of Metairie; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Alanreed Cemetery with Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of the United Methodist Church of McLean, and Rev. James Martindale, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mr. Hessey was a born in Alanreed and lived there all his life. He was from a pioneer family who settled north of Alanreed and was a farmer and rancher. Memorials may be made to Fishes & Loaves Meal Program, in care of United Methodist Church, 219 N. Gray, McLean, TX 79057. Amarillo Daily News, April 15, 2000 Melvin Venic Neill SKELLYTOWN - Melvin Venic Neill, 78, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Borger. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Monday in the White Deer Cemetery with David Moore, a Baptist minister of Dallas, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mr. Neill was born in Hamlin and had lived in Skellytown since the early 1960s. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge No. 325 in Three Rivers. He had been president of the Skellytown Lions Club. He was secretary of Skellytown Community Church and also served on the board. Mr. Neill married Beatrice Varner in 1969 at Skellytown. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tommie Elliott of Princeton and Randy Elliott of Skellytown; five daughters, Ruth Robbins of Flower Mound, Gwyn Kayler of Skellytown, Kathleen Gould of Wilmington, N.C., Deborah Hendrick of Amarillo and Linda King of Canyon; a sister, Betty Jo Brackeen of Liberty; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 15, 2000 Genevieve Ann Lynn HEREFORD - Genevieve Ann Lynn, 81, formerly of Hereford, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Midland. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Robertson Funeral Directors, Chapel of Memories, at Clarendon, with Bright Newhouse, minister of Hedley Church of Christ, officiating. Cremation was by Ellis Funeral Home of Midland. Mrs. Lynn was born in Hereford, where she lived for many years. She had worked as a registered nurse for most of her life before she retired. She moved from Hereford to Odessa six years ago. She was a member of Hereford Rebekah Lodge and the Sarah Circle of the United Methodist Women in Odessa. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hereford. She married Wilton Lynn in 1937 at Hereford. He died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Alan Lynn of Odessa; six daughters, Carole Millsap and Evelyn Reynolds, both of Odessa, Jane Battle and Mary Abbott, both of Midland, June McKenna of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ann Luttrell of Clarendon; two sisters, Joann Stutts of Anahuac and Vida Belle Cirino of New Orleans, La.; four brothers, John Orr of Odessa, Barry Orr Jr. of Dallas, Paul Orr of Tyler and Rogers Orr of Durango, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He owned and operated Pearson Snider Texaco, Snider Texaco and SniderPearson Conoco. He had owned High Plains Auto Supply since 1973. He was a member of First Assembly of God. He married Irene Helton in 1957 at Lovington, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bobby Snider of Dumas, Billy Snider of Campo, Colo., and Jimmy Snider of Boise City, Okla.; a daughter, Marie Leicht of Spearman; a sister, Barbara Keeney of Sweetwater; and 11 grandchildren. He served in the Army during World War II. He had worked as a supervisor at Phillips Petroleum Co. until he retired in 1985. He coached Little League and American Legion Baseball and held several offices in the church. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He married Frances Scheele in 1946 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a son Philip Collins of Bartlesville, Okla.; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Association or American Heart Association. Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. today at the church with Rev. Roney. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by FreemanAbell Funeral Home. Mrs. Martinez was born in Alfred and moved to Hale Center from Mathis in 1950. She was a member of the St. Theresa's Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. She married Simon Martinez in 1944 at Mathis. Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard Martinez of Boyd; five daughters, Anita Betancur, Olga Leon, Irene Martinez, Belen Gomez and Minerva Martinez, all of Hale Center; two brothers, Alonzo Martinez of Mathis and Benito Martinez of Del Rio; two sisters, Adela Martinez and Isabel Martinez, both of Mathis; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith Mortuary Chapel at Charleston, Ark., with Glen Blanscet and Gary Blanscet, grandsons, officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Ridge Cemetery near Lavaca, Ark. Local arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Blanscet was born in Munday, Knox County, Texas. She had lived in Arkansas until she moved to Pampa in 1977. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church and was active in Sunday School and the Women's Missionary Union. She married Velmer W. Blanscet in 1928 at Franklin County, Ark. He died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Wayne Blanscet. Survivors include a son, Roy Blanscet of Pampa; two sisters, Sylvia Allred of Mulberry, Ark., and Oma Jaggers of Clarksville, Ark.; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Amarillo. Mrs. Fields was born in San Augustine. She lived most of her life in Amarillo before moving to Jasper 14 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Leon Fields; two sons, Bobby Fields and Rickey Fields, both of Amarillo; four sisters, Faye Carter of Crowley, Joyce Forsythe of Amarillo, Bonnie Brown of Fort Worth and Christine Bynder of Elmhurst, N.Y.; and a brother, Lonnie Mitchell of Amarillo. He had worked as a clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad in Kansas City, Kan., and was a professional drag racer. He was a Christian. He married Rose Cutting in 1982 at Kansas City. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Arnold and Martha Compton of Dodge City, Kan.; a brother, John Compton of San Francisco; and a sister, Jeannie Albright of Hazelton, Kan.
