Dominguez TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Ismael J. Dominguez, 94, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Dominguez was born in Cuervo. He grew up in Montoya and moved to Tucumcari in 1937. He had been a construction worker and also worked at the Sand Dorsey Drug Store in Tucumcari. He was a member of the Tucumcari Elks Lodge No. 1172, where he had also worked as a bartender. He was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fidelia Dominguez, in 1991. Survivors include six sons, Robert Dominguez of Tucumcari, Steve Dominguez of Los Angeles, Jerry Dominguez and Michael Dominguez, both of Albuquerque, Hank Dominguez of Las Vegas, N.M., and Eddie Dominguez of Nebraska; three daughters, Lupe Bowkamp of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Gloria Quintana and Alice Dominguez, both of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in the church. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mr. Suniga was born in El Concho, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Clovis, where he farmed. Survivors include six sons, Raymundo Suniga Jr., Elias Suniga and Eddie Suniga, all of Clovis, Jessie Suniga of Roswell, Joe Suniga of Las Cruces and Abraham Gomez of Bovina, Texas; two daughters, Diane Gonzales of Clovis and Lisa Suniga of Roswell; a brother, Daniel Suniga of Oklahoma; five sisters, Guadalupe Ramirez, Dominga Martinez, Juanita Carabajal, Guadalupe Garcia and Candelaria Vargas, all of Oklahoma; and 24 grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 15, 2000 Oklahoma David Penner FAIRVIEW, Okla. - David "Dave" Penner, 98, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church with Leonard Vogt, pastor, and Gary Janzen, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Balko Mennonite Brethren Cemetery at Balko with Dewayne Isaac, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Penner was born southeast of Fairview. He farmed in Balko and attended the Mennonite Brethren Church, where he was a lay pastor, assistant pastor and sat on the church board. He also taught Sunday school, was the Sunday school superintendent, an ordained deacon and served on the food committee. Mr. Penner was a member of the Balko school board. He retired in 1976 and moved to Fairview. He married Laura Karber in 1924 at Balko. She died in 1971. He married Rachel Hester Humphrey Srader in 1972 at Fairview. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Reimer of Balko; a brother, Alvin Penner of Balko; two sisters, Lydia Kroeker of Corn and Ruby Treu of Wauwatosa, Wis.; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until service time Saturday at the church. The family suggests memorials be to the Fairview Fellowship Home. She was a dessert cook at Spearman Independent School District and retired in 1976. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Iowa Park Garden Club. She married Caylor George "Doc" Hoobler in 1938 at Roswell, N.M. He died in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Tom Hoobler of Iowa Park and Caylor Max Hoobler of Canyon Lake; two granddaughters; and a great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Luttrell. She graduated from Ralls High School and attended Draughon's Business College. She married Bill Shelton in 1960 at Cone. They moved to Amarillo and had operated Shelton's Flowers since 1965. Mr. Shelton died in 1985. She was a charter member of Southwest Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, John Shelton of Flores da Cunha, Brazil, and Jody Shelton of Hickory, N.C.; a daughter, Vyna Sharpensteen of Amarillo; three sisters, Patsy Jones of San Angelo, Pansy Dunlap of Lovington, N.M., and Mary Whitman of Hollis, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. Interstate 40. Mrs. Stoner was born in Boise City, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of the South Georgia Baptist Church and the Amarillo Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Harry Joseph Stoner in 1921 at Shreveport, La. They owned Forest Hill Construction Co. and a cafe and mobile home park in Amarillo. Mr. Stoner died in 1992. Mrs. Stoner was a former member of the Sunrise Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Harry Gene Stoner of Grand Junction, Colo., Robert Earl "Ruddy" Stoner of Amarillo and Warren Leo Stoner of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M University. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had lived in Amarillo since 1962, teaching agriculture in high schools in the Panhandle and in Oklahoma. He was a computer programmer in the cattle industry. Mr. Lane had worked for Colonial Housing since 1994. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He married Dorothy "Dot" Warren in 1945 at Duke. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janie Scott of Bushland; a son, Dennis Lane of Amarillo; two brothers, J.D. She retired from Knights Rest Home in 1979. She moved from Littlefield to Amarillo. She was a member of First Christian Church of Littlefield. She married Ted Evans in 1928 at Childress. Arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Edwards was born in Bomarton, Baylor County. She was a retired nurse and had lived in Vernon for 60 years, moving to Hale Center in 1988 and then to Plainview in 1990. She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church and a longtime member of the PTA in Vernon. She married Edwin Dewey Edwards in 1928 at Crowell, Foard County. He died in 1990. She also was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Pete" Edwards, in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Nona McPherson of Plainview; a son, William "Trouble" Edwards of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Robertson and the Rev. Ivan Allen officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Havins was born in Gordon. He retired as postmaster from the Childress Post Office. He served in the 36th Texas Infantry in Europe during World War II. He was past member of the Gideons and of Childress school board of trustees. He worked for the American Heart Association and was a Mason. Mr. Havins married Marguerite Bohannon in 1946 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carolyn Harney of Oklahoma City; a son, Danny Havins of Vernon; three brothers, Milton Havins and Kenneth Havins, both of Childress, and Lloyd Havins of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Berniece Wright and Gladys Trosper, both of Childress and Sue Trosper of Kerrville; two grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Sugg was born in Alanreed and moved to Wellington. He attended Crossroads School and West Ward School. He appeared on the Rodeo Tour, performing in shows in Texas, Ohio, Nebraska, and Montreal, Canada. He owned and operated Appreciative Cal's Service Station, Grocery and School Store from 1934 to 1946. He was co-owner of Wellington Funeral Home - later known as Kelso Funeral Home, then Adams Funeral Home - from 1936 to 1938. Mr. Sugg was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He married Mary Ina Crouch in 1933 at Duncan, Okla. She died in 1987. Survivors include a brother, J.D. Sugg of Garland. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 15, 2000 Eula Pearl Petree CANADIAN - Eula Pearl Simmons Petree, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Petree was born in Emory. She was raised in Miami and graduated from Miami High School. She attended West Texas Normal College and earned a teaching certificate from Texas Tech University. She moved to Hemphill County in 1929 and to Amarillo in 1992. She taught at Mendota School and later worked at The Toggery and The Fair clothing stores. Mrs. Petree was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canadian and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club. She married Van William Petree in 1929 at Arnett, Okla. He died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Annette Lippold of Canyon and Marva Lee Hohertz of Spearman; a brother, R.L. "Bill" Simmons of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the building fund of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 15, 2000 William Grady Shephard HALE CENTER - William Grady Shephard, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, in Houston. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Rowland, pastor, and Dr. Max Browning, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Shephard was born in Quinlan. In 1925, he moved to Hale Center, where he attended Hale Center High School. He also attended Texas Tech. He was a herdsman for registered Hereford cattle ranches in the Texas Panhandle, Iowa and Nebraska. He returned to Hale County in 1939 and farmed on his land east of Hale Center, later expanding his operations in Hale, Deaf Smith and Swisher counties. He was a pioneer in feeding cattle in feedlots in the Panhandle. Mr. Shephard served on numerous boards, including the Hale Center Co-op Gin, Hale Center Wheat Growers, Plainview Stock Show, Plainview Production Credit Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He served on the advisory committees to the Houston Federal Intermediate Credit Bank and the Farm Credit System in Washington, D.C. He supported 4-H and FFA projects. Mr. Shephard was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Gladys Patterson in 1932 at Sayre, Okla. She died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Pat Shephard of Hale Center; a daughter, Sara Bobo of Houston; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 15, 2000 Sam A. Ormsby BORGER - Sam A. Ormsby, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000. No services are planned. Cremation and arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Ormsby was a native of Comanche and had lived in Borger for the past 50 years. He was a Navy Seabee, serving during World War II. He was a safety inspector for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a Methodist. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara McElwain of Collbran, Colo.; a brother, Jim Ormsby of Borger; two sisters, Lugean Esten of Garland and Minnie Stacy of San Antonio; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walker was born in Floyd County. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1923. She was a bookkeeper and a member of the Central Church of Christ. She married Dick Walker in 1939 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1977. Survivors include a sister, Bertie Britt of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
