Mr. Brown was born in Brazos and went to school in Leslie. He was a laborer and had been a resident of Memphis for 30 years. Survivors include cousins in Memphis and Amarillo. He attended school in the Crossroad Community then served in the Army during World War II. In 1970, Mr. Barton retired as a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Verne James in 1947 at Wellington. Mrs. Haymaker was born in Perry, Okla., and had lived in Dumas since 1958. She was the retired co-owner of North Plains Glass Co., and a member of the Pilot Club. She was a member of First Street Church of Christ. She married Jack Haymaker in 1944 at Oklahoma City. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jackie Roberts of Dumas; a sister, Evelyn Huddleston of Oklahoma City; a brother, Loyal Cross of Oklahoma City; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Dean McNamara, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home of Plainview. Rev. Puente was born in Yorktown and was a member of Templo Bautista in Plainview. He was a pastor for more than 40 years. In 1976, Rev. Puente was named in Who's Who Among American Religious Leaders. He pioneered missions for all the West Texas area and started the first Head Start program in Muleshoe. He married Juanita Vela Garza in 1942 at Yorktown. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990 and by a son, Marcos G. Puente, in 1984. Survivors include five sons, Reynaldo Puente of Longview, Antonio Leos Puente of Las Vegas, Jose Garza Puente of Atlanta, Rogelio Santiago Puente of Plainview and Jeremias Puente of Hale Center; two daughters, Merced Puente Mendoza of El Paso and Lydia Puente Vega of Farwell, Texas. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Nevada, Mo. As a child, she moved to Dalhart. She had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1943. She joined Top of Texas Chapter of the American Business Women's Association in 1953 as a charter member and had served in various capacities. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and other philanthropic organizations. Mrs. Johnson had worked in the drycleaning business for 40 years, including 18 years as owner of Plains Boulevard Cleaners. She retired in 1977. She was a member of the Dry Cleaners Association. She married Marvin Louis Kline in 1929 at Dumas. In 1969, she married Hugh Johnson. He died in 1976. She also was preceded in death by a son, M.L. Kline Jr. in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Brown and Shirley Gibbons, both of Amarillo; a brother, Glenn Baskett of Amarillo; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In 1978, he began working for Shook Tire Co. in Muleshoe. He went to work for Dick Brown Tire Co. in Levelland in 1983. He later worked for Big State Tire Co. in Lubbock before moving to Amarillo, where he worked for York Tire Co. before returning to Lubbock. He married Linda Green in 1986 at Lubbock.
