Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Bond was born in Alba and was raised in east Texas. She moved to Amarillo in 1985 from Missouri. She was a member of Westview Christian Church and the Agape Women's Club. She married John Alexander Bond in 1958 at Eric, Okla. He died in 1987. She also was preceded in death by a son, Howard Bond, in 1981. Survivors include five daughters, Darlene Shipman of Dalhart, Sylvia Smith and Virginia Rogers, both of Amarillo, Laura Ruth McAfee of Mineral Wells and Kay King of Pampa; eight sons, Joe Bond of Austin, Ike Shipman of Littleton, Colo., Eugene Shipman, Charles Shipman and Wayne Shipman, all of Arizona, Karl Bond of Dallas, John Bond Jr. of Houston and Charles Bond of Port Arthur; a brother, John Bussy of Erick, Okla.; 34 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 16, 2000 William Jack Schell William Jack Schell, 76, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Conway, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Mausoleum East at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Schell was born in Collinsville, Okla. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1943. He enlisted in the Navy. He was assigned to the VB-12 program at the University of Texas at Austin. He later received naval airman training and was discharged after World War II as an air radioman third class. He managed the operation of a lumber mill near Magdalena, N.M., until 1947 when he attended Amarillo Junior College. He graduated in 1952 from the University of Kansas in Lawrence with a bachelor's degree in architecture. Mr. Schell was a member of Scarab and the Acacia fraternity. He was a registered architect in Texas and Kansas, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and associated with several architectural firms. He was active in the Naval Reserve and in 1959 was commissioned as lieutenant in the Civil Engineer Corps, attached to the Seabee Battalion at Amarillo. In 1968, he served in Vietnam with the Seabee Battalion and returned to reserve status in Amarillo in 1969. Mr. Schell was a public works officer at naval bases in California, Hawaii and Texas. He retired as lieutenant commander CEC USN in 1980. He was an engineering professor at Bee County College in Beeville. In 1981, he returned to Amarillo. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He married Barbara Fowler in 1953 at Amarillo. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Andrew Schelle of Anchorage, Alaska, and John Schell of Amarillo; a brother, Farrel Schell of Piedmont, Calif; and five grandchildren. She earned her master's degree at West Texas State Teachers College. A retired music teacher, she taught in Phillips and was the fine arts chairman at Frank Phillips College. She was pianist for Phil-Original and organist and pianist for Phillips First Baptist Church. Mrs. Hubbard was a member of the 20th Century Music Club, Retired Teacher's Association and Fairlanes Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert H. Hubbard, in 1997. Mr. Bryant had played professional baseball, wrestled on the college team and played high school football. He was a golfer. He married Ethel Bryant in the 1930s at Norman, Okla. She died in 1992. He died in 1965. She also was preceded in death by a son, James Neal Jennings, in 1989. Mrs. Vandiver was born in Okmulgee, Okla., where she graduated from high school in 1937. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., in 1941 with a degree in home economics. She taught high school in Okmulgee until 1943, when she married Lt. Charles M. Vandiver at Tulsa, Okla. She served as a dormitory director at Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. In 1948 they moved to Dallas, where she taught until 1954, when they moved to Dimmitt. She also taught school in Dimmitt. Mrs. Vandiver was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Dimmitt Book Club, and the Dimmitt Garden Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught the adult women's Sunday school class and sang in the choir. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Loren of Houston and Craig of Utopia; and a brother, R.M. Barksdale Jr. of Amarillo. Mr. Cope was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County. He graduated from Claude High School in 1941 and attended Texas Tech University. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps as a torpedo bomber pilot aboard an aircraft carrier. He was a farmer and rancher, as well as an American Farmer and a member of the American Legion. He was involved in square dancing and served on the board of the Claude Independent School District. He served on the local and district State Plains Water Conservation Boards. Mr. Cope married Sharon Longbine in 1950 at Claude. Osage St. Mr. Price was born in Clovis, N.M., and had lived in the Panhandle of Texas for many years. He had lived in California, where he entered into the ministry. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tammy Young of Borger and Teresa Estrada of Los Angeles; a son, Anthony Price of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Elizabeth Marriot of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Mike Price of Reno, Nev.; and nine grandchildren. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with Charles Walker, minister of Christadelphian Eclasia of Alamogordo, officiating. Arrangements were by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Wells was born in Plain, and had lived in Tucumcari for many years. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a brakeman and a conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the New Mexico Trappers Association. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his wife, Inetha Wells, in 1970; and by two infant daughters. Survivors include two sons, Foye Wells and Marvin Darrell Wells, both of Alamogordo; a daughter, Sharon Wells of Alamogordo; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Garrison was born in Balko and graduated from Balko High School. She was a homemaker and did nursing work in nursing homes. She had lived in Forgan since 1991. She married Phil Garrison in 1939 at Forgan. He died in 1985. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery at Hooker by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mrs. Beer was born in Jett, Alfalfa County. She moved to Browns Corner community, where she attended school. She graduated from Goodwell High School. She married Charlie E. Beer in 1927 at Goodwell. The lived on their farm north of Guymon, until moving to Wheatridge in 1994. Mrs. Beer was a Sunday school teacher, a member and president of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Home Demonstration Club. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Theresa Stoddard of Liberal, Kan., and Janet Landess and Katherine Rosebure, both of Shawnee, Okla; three sons, Jerome Beer and Gerald Beer, both of Guymon and Curtis Beer of El Dorado, Kan.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Morning Star Methodist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home or at the church. She graduated from Coalgate High School and earned her teaching degree in Ada. She taught school in Coalgate and Boise City. She was awarded Teacher of the Year and retired in 1977. She moved to Boise City in 1958 from the El Reno area. She was a member of the Athenaeum Club and the Delpha Kappa Gamma Sorority. She married Ralph Stanford Murphy in 1939. He died in 1992. Survivors include a son, Steve Murphy of Corpus Christi, Texas; a daughter, Rena Koppleman of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Mr. Dworaczyk was born in Wilson. He moved to Levelland from Plainview in 1975. He had worked for McLain Oil Co. in Levelland. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Davis of Amarillo; three sisters, Regina Steffens of Levelland, Irene Kahlick of Brownwood and Gustie Gaydos of West; and a granddaughter.
