For 25 years, she was a schoolteacher in southern California. She also was a horsewoman, dog fancier and private pilot. James MacLeod, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mr. Barton was born in Coolidge and moved to Collingsworth County in 1915. He attended school in the Crossroad Community then served in the Army during World War II. In 1970, Mr. Barton retired as a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Verne James in 1947 at Wellington. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jackie Wilkerson of Wellington; three brothers, Gus Barton, Raymond Barton and George Barton, all of Wellington; a sister, Marie Woods of Hollywood, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was employed by several ranches including the 6666 Ranch, the Pitchfork Ranch and the Matador Ranch. He retired from the Texas Animal Health Commission, then was a deputy sheriff and jailer. He resided in Paducah for several years and returned to Matador in 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Matador. He married Elaine Blaylock in 1965 at Floydada. Mrs. Haymaker was born in Perry, Okla., and had lived in Dumas since 1958. She was the retired co-owner of North Plains Glass Co., and a member of the Pilot Club. She was a member of First Street Church of Christ. She married Jack Haymaker in 1944 at Oklahoma City. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jackie Roberts of Dumas; a sister, Evelyn Huddleston of Oklahoma City; a brother, Loyal Cross of Oklahoma City; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Dean McNamara, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home of Plainview. Rev. Puente was born in Yorktown and was a member of Templo Bautista in Plainview. He was a pastor for more than 40 years. In 1976, Rev. Puente was named in Who's Who Among American Religious Leaders. He pioneered missions for all the West Texas area and started the first Head Start program in Muleshoe. He married Juanita Vela Garza in 1942 at Yorktown. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990 and by a son, Marcos G. Puente, in 1984. Survivors include five sons, Reynaldo Puente of Longview, Antonio Leos Puente of Las Vegas, Jose Garza Puente of Atlanta, Rogelio Santiago Puente of Plainview and Jeremias Puente of Hale Center; two daughters, Merced Puente Mendoza of El Paso and Lydia Puente Vega of Farwell, Texas. Mrs. Summers was born in Bardwell, where she attended school. In 1934, she moved to the Lynn County area and in 1937, to O'Donnell. She worked for Clemage Dry Goods Store and was a bus driver for O'Donnell schools. She was a care giver and a member of O'Donnell Church of Christ. She married Edward W. "Shorty" Summers in 1924 at Alma. He died in 1963. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Wayne Summers, in 1937; and two daughters, Evelyn Louise Altum, in 1991 and Virginia Lorene Engle, in 1994. He married Carol Eckels in 1962. After retiring, he worked for the Amarillo Country Club Golf Course as the greenskeeper. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs. Gerdsen was born in Cole Camp, Mo., and moved to Canyon in 1940. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Canyon, Lutheran Women and Mission League. In 1995, she moved to Kentucky. She married Fritz Gerdsen in 1941 at Guymon, Okla. He died in 1991. Survivors include four nieces including Phyllis Gerdsen of Canyon; five nephews including Hank Gerdsen of Canyon and Larry Heimsoth of Amarillo. "Frank" Lindsay, 94, of Canyon, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Protection Cemetery at Protection, Kan. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Lindsay was born in Maxville, Kan. He was a farmer and rancher who helped establish the Phone Co-op of Comanche County, Kansas. He was a Mason and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Mary Helen Shrauner in 1929 at Liberal, Kan. She died in 1986. Survivors include two sisters, Jessie Hendrix of Protection and Letha Loman of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Carl Lindsay of Sedalia, Mo.; a granddaughter and two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
