Mr. Trayler was born in Waka and was a lifetime resident of Moore County. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was an operator for Diamond Shamrock, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First Assembly of God. He married Nina Hintergardt in 1946 at Dumas. Dr. Don McDonald, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Blasdel was born in Groom and raised in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1929, then went to work in the family oil and grain business. He attended Denison University at Granville, Ohio, graduating in 1934 with a major in economics and the honor Phi Beta Kappa. He returned to Amarillo to work at the family business. He specialized in real estate and provided venture capital for small businesses. Mr. Blasdel also was involved in cattle ranching, dairy farming, and motel operation and ownership. He retired in 1995. He was active in the YMCA, Chamber of Commerce Highway Committee, Panhandle Plains Historical Society, Panhandle Plains Royalty Owner's Association, Panhandle Geological Society and Rotary. He was past president of the Blasdel Family Association. Survivors include his wife, Janet; his children, Gene, Mike, Terry and Christopher; a brother, Jimmy; and a granddaughter. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe July 16, 2000 Oklahoma Gailen Campbell Powell BOISE CITY, Okla. - Gailen Campbell Powell, 82, died Thursday, July 13, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Felt Baptist Church with Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Guymon Cemetery at Guymon. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Powell was born and raised in Balko. He graduated from high school in Balko and was active on the community baseball team. He graduated from Northwestern State University at Alva. After college, he moved to Elkhart, Kan., where he owned and operated a filling station and bulk gas plant. During World War II, he served aboard the USS Dunlap as a pharmacist's mate for the Navy. After his discharge, he returned to Elkhart and continued his business. In 1950, he bought a farm near Felt, and three years later moved to Vilas, Colo., where he taught high school math and coached. He returned to Felt after one year and moved to Manter, Kan., in 1957, where he taught and coached for two years. He was a teacher, coach and farmer in Felt until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maitel Brown Powell, in 1983. He married Maxine James in 1990 at Las Vegas. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wynelda Gay Buell of Dallas and Raeola Shepherd of Red River, N.M.; four stepdaughters, Hazel Richardson and Jo-Ann Bocock, both of Boise City, Carroll Lawrence of Clayton, N.M., and Gail Myers of Springfield, Colo.; a sister, Lucy Wells of Borger, Texas; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren. After graduating from Butler University in Indianapolis, she received her master's degree from Indiana University at South Bend. She worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and was a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. She was a Licensed Minister of the Christian Church and led workshops on spiritual life and prayer. In 1995, she retired as a psychotherapist from the Samaritan Counseling Center in Amarillo and completed the twoyear Academy for Spiritual Formation of the Upper Room of the United Methodist Church. She was a member and an elder at University Christian Church and a member of Chapter G of P.E.O. in Fort Worth. Survivors include her husband, Harold E. "Polly" Miller, 78, of Amarillo, died Friday, July 14, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Perry Hunsucker, associate pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will be by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Miller was born and reared in Wisconsin. A librarian, she worked in Roswell, N.M., and as the librarian at San Juan College in Farmington, N.M. In 1987, she moved to Amarillo from Farmington. She was a Catholic. She married George Miller in 1945 at New York City. He died in 1986. Survivors include a son, Alan Miller of Amarillo; a daughter, Paula Schneider of Albuquerque, N.M.; three brothers, Tony Presti and Sam Presti, both of Janesville, Wis., and Frank Presti; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from noon until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe July 16, 2000 Robert Samora Sr. Robert "Bobby" Samora Sr., 67, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 15, 2000. Prayer service will be at 5 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Christian Life Center with the Rev. Alvino Alvarez of the center and the Rev. Tony Samora of San Fernando, Calif., officiating. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Samora was born and reared in Amarillo. He worked as a concrete contractor. He married Vivian Alvarez in 1954 at Saginaw, Mich. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Samora Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Gloria Samora of Amarillo; two sisters, Vivian Alvarez of Amarillo and Diane Cortez of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Johnny Samora of Austin and Gilbert Samora of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
