Mrs. Hawn was born in Fort Gibson, Okla. She moved to Lubbock in 1927 and to Amarillo in 1991. She was a homemaker. She was a member and Sunday school teacher of Lubbockview Christian Church. She married Dallas Irving Hawn in 1927 at Caney, Kan. He died in 1981. Survivors include two daughters, Frances Willbanks of Amarillo and Dorothy Sims of Whittier, Calif.; a brother, Tommy Stoll of Fort Gibson; two sisters, Opal Mayo and Mabel Hargus, both of Muskogee, Okla.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1937 and by a son, Harold Isham, in 1929. Mrs. Barton was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and moved to Clovis with her family in 1907. She graduated from high school in Clovis in 1923. She attended the University of Tennessee for one year and the University of New Mexico for three years, earning a bachelor's degree with honors in 1927. She was a member of Mortar Board, Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She was a member and president of Alpha Chi Omega. She did graduate work at the University of Colorado and Eastern New Mexico State University. She taught high school English before her marriage to the Rev. Clyde B. Barton in 1931. She helped him pastor the Presbyterian Church for 10 years and worked with the youth group. In 1942 Mrs. Barton began working at Marshall Junior High. She transferred in 1947 to the English department at Clovis High School. She retired in 1968. Mrs. Barton was active in Delta Kappa Gamma, First Presbyterian Church, Westminster Guild, AAUW, Retired Education Employees Association, Progress Club and the Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include two sisters, Jeane Roehl of Albuquerque and Mildred Page of Clovis. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Wellman was born in Hannah and had lived in Purcell most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington. She married Cecil Wellman in 1936 at Lexington. He died in 1980. She also was preceded in death by a son, Cecil A. Wellman, in 1970. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Mitchusson of Amarillo and Ann Dunkin of Purcell; a son, Vernon Wellman of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Artis Kelley of Lexington; two sisters, Dorothy Tintle of Bloomingdale, N.J., and Evelyn Ille of Lexington; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 18, 2000 Ruth Jurgensen BOISE CITY, Okla. - Ruth Jurgensen of Oklahoma City died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Boise City Cemetery with Harold James officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Miss Jurgensen was born in Cimarron County. She graduated from high school in 1929. She received a degree in English from the University of Oklahoma in 1933. During World War II she worked in the accounting department at Tinker Air Base and did auditing at various bases in the United States. After the war Miss Jurgensen worked for the state of Oklahoma Department of Human Services until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Graveside services with military honors will be at 4 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Fowler was born in Newlin. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He owned a number of restaurants. He moved to Snyder from Childress in 1994. He attended Clarendon College and Southwestern Baptist Seminary at Fort Worth and did mission work in the eastern United States and Alaska. He was a member of Avenue D Baptist Church and was music director at Knapp Baptist Church. He served as music director for churches in Wellington, Childress, Clarendon and Quail. Mr. Fowler married Peggy Ogden in 1948 at Sterling, Ill. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Doyle Fowler. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sheila Harris of Canyon; two sons, Tim Fowler of Memphis and Rusty Fowler of Childress; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He earned a bachelor's degree in zoology and a master's degree in aquatic ecology from the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Downtown Exchange Club and a board member of the Treasure Trails Girl Scout Council. He volunteered in the Youth for Understanding exchange program. He married Shirley Miller at Oklahoma. Mr. Dickey was born and raised in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He joined the Plainview Fire Department in 1966 and served as fire marshal for many years. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies; the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education; and Texas Law Officers Association. He was a past member of the Texas Fire Marshals Association; International Association of Arson Investigation; and the Texas South Plains and Eastern New Mexico Peace Officers Association. Mr. Dickey was a member of Boy Scouts of America and the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. He also coached Little League and took a team to the state championships. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and was baptized in 1979. He married Cyndi Daniel in 1971 at Plainview. He worked for the Smith Ranch in Childress, Crews Ranch in Raton, N.M., and at the Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico. He returned to Childress and worked for the TV Ranch for 28 years. In 1969 Mr. King moved to Silverton where he worked for the Eagle Point Cattle Co. He moved into town in 1988 and took care of the Silverton Cemetery for eight years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Christene Beal in 1942 at Hollis, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ray King of Elkhart, Kan.; two daughters, Brenda Rowan of Floydada and Kathy Jo Via of Canyon; five brothers, Obert Ray King of Amarillo, Glyn King and Neilson King, both of Silverton, and Mervin King and Jim King, both of Cortez, Colo.; three sisters, Evelyn Vaughan of Cortez, Adelle Ennis of Denton and Ruth French of Ord, Neb.; and six grandchildren.
