Dunlap, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Plainview. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Anthony Sisemore, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating, and Melvin Lloyd assisting. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Dunlap was born in Aiken and moved to the Cedar Hill Community in 1914. After attending schools in Liberty and Floydada and graduating from high school in Alpine, he graduated from Los Angeles Junior College in 1931. A retired farmer, he was a member of Floydada Lions Club, Masonic Lodge No. 712 and the Shriners. He was a trustee of Floydada Independent School District and a founding member of Floyd County Coop Gin, where he served as director. He was a member of Producers Co-op Elevator, Consumers Fuel and Farmers Co-op Compress. He was director of the Soil Conservation Service, chairman of Texas Soybean Association Board and served as trade ambassador to Poland, East Germany and Yugoslavia. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Floydada. He married Helen Dorothy McClendon in 1944 at Peaster. She died in 1982. Survivors include a son, John Dunlap of Floydada; a daughter, Becky Margolies of Harlingen; a brother, Willard Dunlap of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to R.G. and Helen Dunlap Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank, 124 S. Main St., Floydada, TX 79235. Amarillo Daily News Sept. 18, 2000 Melba McKaye DARROUZETT - Melba McKaye, 74, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, Booker. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Darrouzett Cemetery with the Rev. Gary McDonald officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. McKaye was born in La Pryor. After graduating from La Pryor High School, she attended John Sealey Nursing School in Galveston. She was a member of St. John's Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school. She married Maxwell Stanley McKaye in 1945 at Norfolk, Va. Before moving to Darrouzett in the early 1970s, they lived in Galveston and El Paso. Her husband died in 1997. Survivors include a son, Maxwell Stephen McKaye of Darrouzett; a daughter, Suzan Allen of Bedminster, N.J.; a brother, Jack Trees of San Antonio; two sisters, Madeline Trees of Big Spring and Maidie Westerholm of New Jersey; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News Sept. 18, 2000 Myra Jane Mangum PLAINVIEW - Myra Jane Mangum, 68, formerly of Plainview, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Granbury. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Kris Craig, chaplain of Vista Care Family Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mangum was born and reared in Quitman, where she graduated from high school. After graduating from East Texas State College at Commerce, she moved to Lockney and taught school for one year. After marrying Curtis A. Mangum in 1953 at Lockney, she and her husband moved to Plainview. Her husband died in 1996. She moved to Granbury in 1999. Survivors include two sons, Mark Wayne Mangum of Granbury and Dirk Mangum of San Francisco; and a brother, Charles Kirkland of DeSoto. Amarillo Daily News Sept. 18, 2000 Mary P. Gilbreath PADUCAH - Mary P. Gilbreath, 72, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. No services are planned. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Gilbreath was born in Los Angeles. A homemaker, she worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock for more than 20 years. She moved to Paducah in 1998. Her husband, Edward E. Gilbreath, died in 1998. Survivors include three sons, Leslie Gilbreath and Doug Gilbreath, both of Paducah and Carl Gilbreath of Wink; a daughter, Virginia Gilbreath of Lubbock; a sister, Elaine Glasby of Pahrump, Nev.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News Sept. 18, 2000 Velva Elliott HEREFORD - Velva Elliott, 77, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Harlan Resch officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Elliott was born in White Deer. A homemaker, she lived in Hereford for 55 years. She married Terrell Elliott in 1941 at Olton. Her son, Dickie Elliott, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Diane Elliott of Amarillo and Donna Parker and Debbie Vaughn, both of Hereford; a sister, Opal Newcomb of Chautauqua, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren. The family will be at 120 Quince St. in Hereford. Amarillo Daily News Sept. 18, 2000 New Mexico Marguerite George TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Marguerite George, 90, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Witcher, minister of the church, officiating. Burial will in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. George was born in Hereford. A homemaker, she moved to Tucumcari three years ago. Her husband, Harvey L. George, died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Dusty George of Tucumcari; three sisters, Flosie Plott of Fredricks, Okla., Virginia Bussell of Springfield, Colo., and Elizabeth Donavan of San Bernardino, Calif.; a brother, Bill Bowman of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News Sept. 18, 2000 Elsewhere Louis Wayne Glover TUCSON, Ariz. - Louis Wayne Glover, 73, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Adair Funeral Home, Avalon Chapel. Burial will be in Durango, Colo. Mr. Glover was born in Happy, Texas. After serving with the Merchant Marines during World War II, he worked as a builder, land developer, rancher and pilot. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Glover; two daughters, Linda Holland of Castle Rock, Colo. and Laura Long of Littleton, Colo.; five sons, Stephen Glover of Durango, Roger Glover of Bayfield, Colo., David Marshall of Godley, Texas, Stephan Marshall of Austin, and John Marshall of Weatherford, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
