Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Weldon officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo. Mr. Ferguson was born in Plainview. He was fire chief at the Plainview Fire Department and a member of the Parkview Baptist Church. He was living in San Angelo at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Donna Ferguson; two sons, Joe Bob Ferguson of Friona and Don Ferguson of San Angelo; a brother, Robert Ferguson of Canyon; and two grandchildren. BORGER - Loretta J. Fletcher, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. John Denton and the Rev. Chris Riley officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Fletcher was born in Wirt, Okla., and was a longtime Borger area resident. She was a secretary for Montgomery Ward and was co-owner of White Way Storage and Properties. She was a Baptist. She married Charles Fletcher in 1980 at Stinnett. She was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Ralston. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jeffery Scott Davis of Borger; three daughters, Kimberly Williams of Houston, Tracie Davis of Tulsa, Okla., and Christi Jackson of Durant, Okla.; her mother, Alva Leon Barbour of Borger; three brothers, Bennie A. Barbour of Borger, Paul David Barbour of Duncan, Okla., and Richard Keith Barbour of Bedford; two sisters, Linda Cox of Borger and Jerri Glenna Barbour of Pampa; and nine grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176. Robert S. Helms, 86, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Helms was born in Childress and had been a longtime Amarillo resident. A retired electrician, he had owned Guaranteed Electric Co. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 602, and N.E.B.F. He married Florence Handley in 1935. Survivors include a son, Robert C. Helms of Amarillo; a daughter, Peggy Wanderscheid of Amarillo; two sisters, Kittie Decker of Ashland, Ore., and Mittie Kincannon of Tetonia, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. PAMPA - Thomas J. Hill, 85, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Hill was born in Pauls Valley, Okla., and had lived in Pampa since 1939. He retired as foreman for Gulf Oil Corp. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Clarine Finch in 1939 at Shamrock. He was preceded in death by a son, James Phillip Hill in 1944. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Hill of Pampa; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Albert Criss Holden, 79, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel at Perryton with the Rev. Ted Latham officiating. Burial is private. Mr. Holden was born in Gray, Okla. He had worked for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. at Gray. In 1965, he moved from Balko, Okla., to Amarillo, where he was self-employed and involved in sales. He moved to Surprise, Ariz., in 1999. He was a member of Balko Baptist Church. He married Juanita Campbell in 1952. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra Goodwin of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Christie Andersen of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Chester Holden of Dumas; two sisters, Ann Holden of Denver and Elizabeth Pepper of Pampa; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. HOWARDWICK - Robert Dale Howerton, 40, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery at Amarillo with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., in Amarillo. Mr. Howerton was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Caprock High School. He was a quality control inspector at Pantex. He was also a used car salesman. Survivors include his father, Buddy Howerton; a sister, Jacquelyn Chadick of Amarillo; and a grandmother, Emmer Fay Morrison of Amarillo. The body will not be available for viewing. GROOM - Ruth B. Knight, 98, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in Panhandle. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Tom Moore, pastor, and Jerry Moore of Gruver officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Knight was born in Parnell, Mo., and moved from Iowa to Texas in 1930. She owned and operated restaurants in Groom before her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Cornell Knight in 1922 at Maryville, Mo. He died in 1971. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Knight. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Lamberson of Groom, Clarice Steinkirchner of Jennerstown, Pa., Doris Slocum of Amarillo and Nell Dean Bagwell of Gruver; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Groom United Methodist Church or the Groom Ambulance Fund. LAKEVIEW - Willie Lindley, 86, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Church of Christ with Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Lindley was born in Atlanta and was a longtime resident of Lakeview. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She married John Lindley in 1931 at Elgin, Okla. He died in 1976. Survivors include three sons, Dalton Lindley of Meade, Kan., J.W. Lindley of Memphis and Thollie Lindley of Lakeview; a daughter, Nancy Montgomery of Olivia, Minn.; a brother, Frank Wallace of Gun Barrel City; a sister, Lois Koonce of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to favorite charity. SHAMROCK - Virginia Lee Littlejohn, 69, formerly of Shamrock, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Killeen. Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. today in Shamrock Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Mrs. Littlejohn was born in Russell County, Va. She grew up in Tazewell, Va., and attended school there. She married William H. Littlejohn in 1947 at Rice, Kan. They moved to Shamrock in 1951. They moved to Copperas Cove in 1998. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny Lee Littlejohn in 1955 and Danny Joel Littlejohn in 1972. Survivors include her husband; a son, William H. "Billy" Littlejohn Jr. of Copperas Cove; a brother, George Adams of Tazewell; a sister, Phylis Gist of Lancaster, Calif.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. HEREFORD - Ruth London, 67, formerly of Hereford, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in West Park Cemetery with Gary London officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Miss London was born in Deaf Smith County. She was a homemaker. She was living in Amarillo at the time of her death. Survivors include two brothers, Paul London of Amarillo and Baxter London of Hereford; and a sister, Kay Myers of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. CLARENDON - Jack McLaughlin, 67, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, in Liberal, Kan. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery by Kitch Funeral Home of Liberal, Kan. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Gallatin, Mo. He graduated from Benton High School at St. Joseph, Mo., in 1953. He was in the Army and spent two years in the Korean War. In 1988 he retired as vice-president of National Beef in Liberal. He was a member of the Clarendon Country Club and the Mens Golf Association, where he was past president. He married Maxine Elder in 1955 at St. Joseph, Mo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy McLaughlin of Liberal; four daughters, Debbie Sumner, Rhonda Johnson, Rita Foster and Deanna Burkhart, all of Liberal; two brothers, Bill McLaughlin of Dennison, Iowa, and Frank McLaughlin of Sterling, Colo.; five sisters, Margie Blanton and Vena Robert, both of St. Joseph, Ellen Shelton of Elwood, Kan., Myria Trept of Downey, Calif., and Connie Midyett of Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren; a foster grandchild; and three step-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Melba Lee Spring Parmenter, 82, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. David Scott officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Parmenter, a member of the Choctaw Indian tribe, was born and raised in Hugo, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1968 from Dallas, where she was a retouch artist for Olan Mills Studios. She was an artist and a past member of the Deaf Club of Amarillo. She married Herbert Parmenter in 1947 at Dallas. He died in April. Survivors include a daughter, Glenna Bolton of Miles City, Mont.; three sons, Barry Burgess of Buford, Ga., Gary Parmenter of Guffey, Colo., and Duane Parmenter of Amarillo; two brothers, Dan Spring of Jonesboro, La., and Al Spring of Lewisville; 10 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101. Peggy Pittman, 83, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Keller of the church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Pittman was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She won a citywide bowling tournament and received awards for having a 550 three-game average. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ladell Pittman. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret J. Pittman of Amarillo; a son, Johnny A. Pittman of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Diamond of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176. Robert W. Strong, 80, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with Jim Shelburne, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Strong was born in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1938. In 1939, he completed a correspondence course in accounting at Hill Business College at Oklahoma City. He worked for Amarillo Hardware and retired from Pantex. He married Ivabelle Brewer in 1940 at Altus, Okla. She died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Fulton of Amarillo; a son, Dr. Don Strong of Durant, Okla.; two sisters, Dorothy Cook of Roswell, N.M., and Rosemary Cunningham of Amarillo; a brother, Jack Strong of Alamogordo, N.M.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Washington Avenue Christian Church. The family will be at 6612 Sandie Drive.
