Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Dalhart with the Rev. Stephen Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Amarillo by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones was born in Kingston, Mo. She grew up in Missouri and Davenport, Iowa. During World War II, she was an aircraft-assembly worker. She and her first husband, Dean Bingham, moved to Dalhart in 1970. He died later that year. She married C.L. Jones in 1974 at Dalhart. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Gamma Nu Sorority, Women's Golf Association and the Senior Citizens Association. She was a past member of the Garden Club. Survivors include her husband; a son, Dean Bingham Jr. of Kilgore; a daughter Darla Ivy of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Eubanks was born in Abernathy and moved to Pampa from Lubbock in 1935. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1947. She had worked for the Federal Land Bank, West Texas Repressuring and Cabot Corp. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married Robert Lenene Eubanks in 1956 at Tucumcari, N.M. He died in 1998. Survivors include a son, Doug Eubanks of Folsom, Calif.; two brothers, Don Fagan of Amarillo and Malcolm Fagan of Heathrow, Fla.; a sister, Lois Jean Kuhns of Dallas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Jeff Witcher and Alan Pool, branch presidents, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Fonburg was born in Lefors and had been a resident of Dumas for most of his life. He served in the Marines. He worked as a certified nurses' aide for Moore County Hospital District and had worked at Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since 1989. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Rita Irene Dudley in 1965 at Bangkok, Thailand. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kent Rasmussen of Anaheim, Calif.; three daughters, I. Renai Newbon of North San Juan, Calif., Karen Skversky of Temecula, Calif., and Paula Woodruff of Slidell, La.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Bishop was born in Allen, Okla., and had been a resident of Moore County since 1946. In 1977, he retired from Phillips Chemical Co. as a class operator. He was a member of the Church of Christ Faith. He married Ayline Reed in 1934 at Marlow, Okla. She died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Don Bishop of Perryton and Jerry Bishop of Amarillo; a daughter, Linda Hibbs of Dumas; two brothers, the Rev. Clarence Bishop of Wellington and Theo Bishop of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Lois Fallon of Fresno, Calif., Willa Holliday of Midwest City, Okla., and Aleen Ruff of Tucson; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, May 19, 2000 Amarillo Jairl Parr Dowell Jairl Parr Dowell, 56, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 16, in Dallas. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with Dr. John Bridwell, minister emeritus, officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Dowell was born in Amarillo and had lived here most of his life. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961. He attended Yale University at New Haven, Conn., where he earned a bachelor's degree in the study of political science and international relations, graduating in 1965. He acquired his doctorate in jurisprudence at the University of Texas Law School, graduating in 1968. He worked in the trust department of American National Bank from 1969 to 1972 and then served as a trial lawyer with Gibson, Ochsner, Adkins, Harlan & Hankins law firm. In 1974, he returned to the banking business, working for Texas American. Mr. Dowell became a judge in the 108th District Court when he was appointed in 1987 to complete the unexpired term of Judge Edward Nobles. Finishing his term in 1989, he remained in law and went into private practice. He moved to Dallas in 1997 and went to work as general counsel of 3Merge.com. Mr. Dowell had been a member of the commercial arbitration and mediation panels of the American Arbitration Association. He had served on the board of directors of the Amarillo Bar Association, Amarillo Legal Aid Inc., Amarillo Area Estate Planning Council, and the Panhandle Producers & Royalty Owners Association. He also had served on the boards of Amarillo Community Council, YMCA, Campfire Council, Lone Star Ballet, Ronald McDonald House, Children's Rehabilitation Center, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Survivors include two sons, Austin Dowell of Austin and Richard DeBerry of Fort Worth; a daughter, Paige Tebeest of Plainview; his mother, Gladys Dowell of Amarillo; a sister, Pat Underwood of Dallas; and a grandson. He graduated from Dill City High School in Oklahoma. In 1944, he moved to Amarillo from Pawnee, Okla. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a heavyequipment operator. Mr. Franklin married Bobbie Murphy in 1966 at Hobart, Okla. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorna Sue Franklin, in 1952; and a stepdaughter, Elaine Crider, in 1987. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, June Cherb of Morrison, Okla.; two stepsons, Freddie Cherb of Glencoe, Okla., and Johnny Cherb of Amarillo; his mother, Ruby Franklin of Elk City, Okla.; a sister, Fredia Williams of Elk City; a brother, Barry Franklin of Cordell; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum North. Mrs. Hisey was born in Mount Pleasant and moved to Amarillo in 1948. She was a homemaker and volunteer at the Wesley Community Center. She was a member of Circle of Square Dance Club, United Methodist Women, Crafty Quilters Club and the Paramount Baptist Church. She married Bill Hisey in 1957 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; her mother, Junie Hobbs of Amarillo; and three brothers, Gary Hobbs of Albuquerque, N.M., Joe Hobbs of The Colony and Billy Hobbs of Amarillo. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery at Canyon. Mrs. Gilbert was born in Weymouth, England. During World War II, she served as a volunteer to the British Air Force. She married Laroy Gilbert in 1945 at Weymouth. He died in 1987. She also was preceded in death by a son, Reggie Gilbert, in 1981. Survivors include five daughters, Linda Conder of Terrell, Betty Gardner, Faye Essary and Donna Gilbert, all of Amarillo and Mary Gamblin of El Paso; three sons, Larry Gilbert, Gary Gilbert and Lonnie Gilbert, of Amarillo; a brother, Pete Dobson of London, England; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of Christ at Matador with Mike Crowley, Bob Kilmer and Ed D. Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery at Matador by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mr. Durham was born in Denton and moved to Kent County in 1931. He worked as a cowboy on area ranches, including the Matador Ranch, the Pitchfork Ranch, the 6666 Ranch, the Nance Ranch and the Mallett Ranch near Sundown. He began making saddles as a teen and opened a saddle shop near Roaring Springs in 1959. He continued making saddles until his death. He married Adelle Carlisle in 1940 at Spur. Survivors include his wife; a son, Johnny Durham of Shallowater; a daughter, Wanda Perryman of Roaring Springs; a brother, G.B. "Slim" Durham of Wister, Okla.; a sister, Peggy Durham Guthrey of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, May 19, 2000 Charlie Haskell Guffey HENRIETTA - Charlie Haskell Guffey, 89, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in Plano. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Rosehill Cemetery at Ardmore, Okla., with the Rev. Jim Lyons, pastor of Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland, officiating. Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home. Mr. Guffey was born in Westbrook. During World War II, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then worked for Clanton Trucking and Miller & Miller Trucking. He retired in 1975 and moved to Henrietta to farm. He was a Baptist. He married Anna Louise Jacobs in 1933 at Ardmore. She died in 1990. Survivors include six sons, Charles Guffey of Houma, La., Howard Guffey and Gary Guffey, both of Wichita Falls, Freeman Guffey of Dallas and Larry Guffey and Carl Guffey, both of Amarillo; four daughters, Barbara Wolfe of Garland, Francis Whistler of Plano and Mildred Bingham and Ellen Miller, both of Amarillo; a brother, Perry Guffey of Ardmore; 34 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church at Sudan with the Rev. Jim Hawthorne, of Amarillo, and the Rev. Lyndall Fletcher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Wallace was born in Haskell County. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the South Pacific. He had worked for the Gulf Oil Corp. at Sweetwater and in 1955 he moved to the Sudan community, where he farmed until 1983. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Wallace married Anita Moore in 1969 at Sweetwater. He was preceded in death by a son, Van Wallace, in 1996. Survivors include his wife; a son, Blake Wallace of Farmington, N.M.; a daughter, Flonita Ashford of Muleshoe; a sister, Lucille Slater of Fulton, two brothers, W.J. Wallace of Las Cruces, N.M., and Frank Wallace of Santa Anna; and three grandchildren.
