Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with the Rev. Bill Hodges of Clarendon Nazarene Church at Clarendon officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mrs. Ansley was born in Hooker, Okla. A homemaker, she sang in the choir and was a member of Faith Community Church in Canyon. She also sang for nursing homes in the Amarillo area. She moved to Howardwick from Canyon two months ago. Her son, Jackie Lee Ansley, preceded her in death. She married W. Wilson Ansley in 1935 at Liberal, Kan. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Velma Mae Gibler of Howardwick; a son, Wilson D. Ansley of Amarillo; a brother, O.J. Packebush of Partridge, Kan.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until noon today at Robertson Funeral Home in Clarendon. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice in Amarillo; or Ida Ansley Memorial at Happy State Bank in Canyon. PLAINVIEW - Joe Arthur Ferguson, 57, formerly of Plainview, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in San Angelo. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Weldon officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo. Mr. Ferguson was born in Plainview. He was fire chief at the Plainview Fire Department and a member of the Parkview Baptist Church. He was living in San Angelo at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Donna Ferguson; two sons, Joe Bob Ferguson of Friona and Don Ferguson of San Angelo; a brother, Robert Ferguson of Canyon; and two grandchildren. BORGER - Loretta J. Fletcher, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. John Denton and the Rev. Chris Riley officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Fletcher was born in Wirt, Okla., and was a longtime Borger area resident. She was a secretary for Montgomery Ward and was co-owner of White Way Storage and Properties. She was a Baptist. She married Charles Fletcher in 1980 at Stinnett. She was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Ralston. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jeffery Scott Davis of Borger; three daughters, Kimberly Williams of Houston, Tracie Davis of Tulsa, Okla., and Christi Jackson of Durant, Okla.; three brothers, Bennie A. Barbour of Borger, Paul David Barbour of Duncan, Okla., and Richard Keith Barbour of Bedford; two sisters, Linda Cox of Borger and Jerri Glenna Barbour of Pampa; and nine grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176. PLAINVIEW - Birdie Cleo Fox, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Max Browning, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Fox was born in Waco. She graduated from Abilene High School and McMurry University and did graduate studies at Denver University. She taught school at Stanton and Olton before moving to Plainview in 1942 from Canyon. At Plainview High School she was head of the business department and taught shorthand, bookkeeping and typing. She was a distinguished life member of the Society of Business Educators, a life member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and an associate member of the Sheriff's Association of Texas. She a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught third and fourth grade Sunday school. She was a past member and officer of the Women's Club of Plainview and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and the Pink Ladies. She married Girard Fox in 1949 at Plainview. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ginger Batson of Corpus Christi; a brother, William Elmer Crabtree of Nashville, Tenn.; and two granddaughters. Janice Holder Gruhlkey Hammond, 62, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Palo Duro Baptist Church at Wildorado with the Rev. Phil Mercado, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wildorado Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Hammond was born in Jackson County, Okla., and graduated from Vega High School. She owned Gruhlkey Insurance Agency in Amarillo and engaged in farming in Randall, Deaf Smith and Oldham counties. She married Roger Gruhlkey in 1955 at Vega. He died in 1989. She married Jay E. Hammond in 1993 at Rapid City, S.D. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bill Gruhlkey of Wildorado and Jim Gruhlkey of Sundown; three stepdaughters, Susan Richardson, Kathy O'Rourke and Linda Hammond, all of Amarillo; two stepsons, Lonnie Hammond of Amarillo and Larry Hammond of Houston; a sister, Charlene Richardson of Vega; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176; or Wildorado Independent School District, Library Fund, Box 120, Wildorado, TX 79098. The family will be at County Road 28. Robert S. Helms, 86, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Arrangements were by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Helms was born in Childress and had been a longtime Amarillo resident. A retired electrician, he had owned Guaranteed Electric Co. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 602, and N.E.B.F. He married Florence Handley in 1935. Survivors include a son, Robert C. Helms of Amarillo; a daughter, Peggy Wanderscheid of Amarillo; two sisters, Kittie Decker of Ashland, Ore., and Mittie Kincannon of Tetonia, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. SLATON - Sybil Hensley, 88, formerly of Slaton, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Haskell. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church at Guthrie with Byron Garrison of Canyon officiating. Burial will be in Guthrie Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mrs. Hensley was born in Jayton. She moved to Guthrie and lived there until moving to Slaton 13 years ago. She moved to Haskell six months ago. She was a Baptist. She served as King County Clerk from 1948 to 1976 and also operated an abstract office in King County. She married Fred Harvie Hensley in 1936 at Seminole. They operated a cafe and service station. Mr. Hensley died in 1972. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Criswell of Guthrie; her stepmother, Cleone York of Magazine, Ark.; a half-brother, Tommy York of Magazine; a half-sister, Winston Johnson of Magazine; two grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham Lane, Abilene, TX 79602. PERRYTON - Glenda Herrington, 41, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Victory Family Church with the Rev. Marlon Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Herrington was born in Perryton and was a lifetime resident. After graduating from Spearman High School, she attended the Law Enforcement Academy and raised horses on her ranch. She married Clarence Herrington in 1994 at Perryton. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lacey Baker of Stephenville; two sisters, Brenda Smith of Perryton and Sharon Farber of Spearman; a brother, Lynn Cook of Spearman; and special friend, Edmundo Cordova of Perryton. The family suggests memorials be to Ochiltree Hospice, 3101 Garrett Dr., Perryton, TX 79070. PAMPA - Thomas J. Hill, 85, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Hill was born in Pauls Valley, Okla., and had lived in Pampa since 1939. He retired as foreman for Gulf Oil Corp. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Clarine Finch in 1939 at Shamrock. He was preceded in death by a son, James Phillip Hill in 1944. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Hill of Pampa; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065; or, First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1981, Pampa, TX 79066-1981. CLOVIS, N.M. - C.P. "Pete" True, 87, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Rigney of Advent Christian Church officiating and Greg Martin assisting. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Mr. True was born in McAlister and moved to Clovis after graduating from Melrose High School. He worked at Farmers Oil Co., until his retirement. He was a member of Advent Christian Church, where he had served as treasurer. He married Lula Bell in 1936 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty Teel of Roswell; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Advent Christian Church. PAMPA - Josef F. Zierhofer, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with Monsignor Francis Smyer of St. Mary's Catholic Church as celebrant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Zierhofer was born in Vienna, Austria, and moved to Amarillo in 1938. He worked as a bartender at the Amarillo Club and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include his brother, Herbert Saumwald of Hoffeld, Austria. Viewing will be from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
