Burns DUMAS - L.D. Burns, 77, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Johnson, retired chaplain and minister from Oklahoma City, the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God minister, and the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Burns was born in Lubbock and graduated from high school in Lovington, N.M. in 1941 as valedictorian. He also graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He moved from Amarillo to Dumas in 1954. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired civil and environmental engineer and co-owner of NuWay Pork. He was a former co-partner of McMorries & Burns Civil Engineers and former owner of Enviro-Ag. He was past president of Dumas Noon Lions Club and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Dumas Masonic Lodge No. 1009. He was preceded in death by a wife of 49 years, Montye Louise "Lou" Burns, in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Dolly; two daughters, Teresa Alexander of Charleston, S.C., and Linda Robinson of Borger; a son, Ronald Burns of Dumas; a brother, Kenneth Burns of Lovington; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Oklahoma Lane Cemetery in Oklahoma Lane by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Dollar was born in Purcell, Okla. She was a longtime resident of Farwell and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Dollar; and by two sons, Billy Dollar and Buil Dollar. Survivors include a son, Bob Dollar of Farwell; a daughter, Betty Parks of Roaring Springs; and two brothers, Carliss Woods and W.H. "Jack" Woods, both of Farwell. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 20, 2000 Ola Pearl McNutt PLAINVIEW - Ola Pearl McNutt, 87, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Shawn Fouts, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. McNutt was born in Comanche County and grew up in Hale County. She attended schools in Center Plains. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and taught children's Sunday school. She married Lester McNutt in 1930 at Watonga, Okla. They lived in Plainview, where they owned and operated East Side Grocery for 25 years. He died in 1996. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara McNutt. Survivors include two sons, Lesal McNutt of Plainview and Eldon McNutt of Ruidoso, N.M.; a brother, Lee Looney of Plainview; three sisters, Leota Phillips of Clarkson, Wash., Gennie in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Lindley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Rector was born in Iowa Park. She grew up in Lakeview, Hall County and graduated from Lakeview High School. In 1943 she moved to Swisher County from Plainview, Hale County. She was a civic volunteer and volunteered for the American Cancer Society for over 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and an artist. She married Hubert Rector in 1926 at Plainview. He died in 1984. Survivors include two daughters, Bonita Kelin of Waco and Janice Eubank of Lake Jackson; a son, Travis Rector of Lubbock; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eliseo Saldana officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Saldana was born in Edinburg. He worked at Plainview Compress for many years and was a member of Church of the Valley. Mr. Ramos was born in Linares, NL, Mexico. He served in the Army and was discharged in 1942. Mr. Zdunczyk was born in Connecticut and moved at an early age to Albuquerque, where he attended schools and graduated from the University of New Mexico. He worked in the restaurant industry, in New Mexico and Texas, as a manager and consultant. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie of Amarillo; his father and stepmother, Carl and Rosemary of Albuquerque; a brother, Carl Jr. of Albuquerque; a brother, Raymon of Laguna Beach, Calif.; and his former wife and friend, Louise. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 20, 2000 Daniel Richard Rogers WICHITA FALLS - Daniel Richard Rogers, 70, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Houston. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Grace Church with Reggie Coe, minister, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery at Amarillo. Arrangements are by Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Mr. Rogers was born in Enid, Okla. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1946 and attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo., and the University of Texas in Austin, where he majored in finance. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a rancher in Dalhart for six years and in 1958 moved to Wichita Falls, where he owned and operated the Hertz franchise. After selling his business in 1970, he became a private investor. He attended Grace Church. Mr. Rogers married Ann Rogers in 1952 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Poleski of Arlington; a son, Richard A. Rogers of Dallas; and four grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 20, 2000 Gene Gunn BROWNFIELD - Gene Gunn, 85, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Bob Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Gunn was born in Sparta, Tenn., and was raised in Nashville, Tenn, where he attended school. In 1941 he moved to Brownfield, owning a variety of businesses including, bicycling, tire recapping, and appliances and accessories. He retired from Gene Gunn Oil Co. in 1980. He served on the Brownfield school board and was a member of the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce and Brownfield Church of Christ. Mr. Gunn married Mildred Clifton in 1933 at Franklin, Ky. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles Gunn of Midland, Max Gunn of Childress and Gary Gunn of Houston; a daughter, Ginger Vertz of Boston; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. Patrick Maher. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park. Mr. Dolle was born in Bell County and moved with his family to Littlefield in 1924. He was a farmer in Lamb County, retiring after 30 years in 1977. He was a board member of the Lamb County Farmers Coop and was named Outstanding Farmer of the year in 1962. He was presented the Award of Achievement for Diversified Farmer and Participant in Community Affairs by the Littlefield Chamber of Commerce. He also received the Conservation Award from the Woodmen of the World in 1966. Mr. Dolle was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He married Edna Geistman in 1935 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sahron Dolle of Lubbock and Kay Pagel of Muenster; three sons, Bill Dolle of Maple, J.T. Dolle of Littlefield and Don Dolle of Canyon; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association; or a favorite charity. Thurman Kite in 1950 at McLean. She was preceded in death by a son, Thurman Joseph Kite, in 1978. He was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church. He married Maxine Beeman in 1946 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Heider of Columbus, Ga.; a son, David P. Osage St. Mr. Turner was born in Rankin, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He served in the Army during World War II and in the National Guard from 1946 to 1953. He was honored for his service with several medals including two Bronze Stars. He was a 33rd Degree mason and a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. He was a carpet salesman for over 40 years. Survivors include a son, Max Turner of Amarillo; a sister, Inice Smith of Whittier, Calif.; his ex-wife, Levina Turner of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Routh was born in Lamar, Okla. She owned and operated nursing homes in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, including the Van Ark Nursing Home in Tucumcari. She was owner of Thelma's Antiques in Tucumcari. She married Jack Routh in 1963. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sharon Cardwell of Houston; three sisters, Opal Phelps of Claude, Texas, Lola Cook of Burkburnett, Texas and Melba Earle of Hereford, Texas. Mrs. Morrow was born in House. She was postmaster at House for 38 years and farmed with her husband before moving to Clovis in 1981. She was a member of House Baptist Church and the Ima Quilting Club. She married Emmitt Morrow in 1938 at Tucumcari. Survivors include a son, Mike Morrow of House; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 20, 2000 Leven Watson Mason CLAYTON, N.M. - Leven Watson Mason, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000. Private burial was Tuesday in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Mason was born in McKinney, Texas. He lived in the Thomas and Mansker areas of Union County until 1947 when he moved to Sedan. He farmed and ranched in Sedan until 1965 when he moved to Clayton. In 1980 he moved to Eufaula, Okla., living there until returning to Clayton in 1989. He was a member of the Baptist church. He married Blanche Crabtree in 1934 at Sherman, Texas. She died in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Robinson of Clayton and Joyce Carol Nelson of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones was born in Houston. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He lived in Tucumcari, where he worked for Alco Store. Burial will be in Moses Cemetery at Moses by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Sisneros was born in Moses. She had lived in Roswell and Black Lake before returning to Moses in 1951. She farmed and ranched in Moses with her husband, until retirement. She married Joe N. Sisneros in 1945 at Boise City, Okla.
