He served in the Army Air Corps' 544th Division. He retired from Golden Light Equipment Co. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon and helped with the homebound ministry. He married Norene Roddy in 1946 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rickey Woodard of Amarillo and Roddy Woodard of Longview; three brothers, Ray Woodard and Gene Woodard, both of Ralls, and Earl Woodard of Childress; five sisters, Bertha Williams of Childress, Pearl Carpenter of Clovis, N.M., Bessie Cope of Amarillo, Betty Jo Carpenter of Muleshoe and Ruth Caddell of Ralls; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega. Mr. Pinnell was born in Canadian. He graduated from Pampa High School. He moved to Hereford in 1939 and moved to Adrian in 1944. He retired from farming and ranching in 1979 and moved to Amarillo. He was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. He married Ola Ruth Wells in 1937 at Miami. She died in 1974. He married Alma Irene Zaring in 1977 at Adrian. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judy Chism of Adrian and Linda Pohlmeier of Amarillo; two sons, Edward Lee Pinnell of Wagon Mound, N.M., and Phil Pinnell of Plainview; two stepdaughters, Myrna Jackson of Vega and Patty Bannister of Canada; a stepson, Jimmy Zaring of Borger; a sister, Opel Johnson Perry of Dumas; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She married Truman Eubanks in 1962 at Panhandle. He died in 1998. Survivors include four daughters, Raylene Barnes, Brenda Allen, Beverly Barnes and Becky Adams, all of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Van Vliet was born in Leighton, Iowa. He grew up in Pella, Iowa. He attended Central College in Pella and Simpson College at Indianola, Iowa and earned his degree in civil engineering at Iowa State University in Ames. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in Bartlesville, Okla., and in Phillips. He worked for Fluor Corp. in Kansas City and Philadelphia. In 1945 he moved to Amarillo to join Hagy, Harrington and Marsh. He worked for Panoma Corp. of Amarillo. He retired as vice president of Diamond Shamrock Oil & Gas Corp. He was a member of the Salvation Army. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and served on the boards of the Better Business Bureau and City Traffic Commission. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He married Ruth Zoa Dancker in 1939. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steven Van Vliet of Philadelphia, Richard Van Vliet and David Van Vliet, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mark Van Vliet of Lawrence, Kan.; a sister, Mary Van Vliet Whinery of Amarillo; a brother, Paul Van Vliet of Auburn, Calif; and six grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Lewis was born in Mobeetie and moved from Pampa to Amarillo in 1955. He was a veteran of World War II. He worked for Panhandle Food Co. and retired as owner of Paramount Shamrock service station. After retirement he worked for a food farm in south Amarillo. He was a member of Olsen Park Church of Christ, the Gardeners of Amarillo, Gardening Club, and the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 410. He was an honorary member of the Telephone Pioneers, a volunteer with Amarillo Botanical Gardens and was named botanical gardens' Volunteer of the Year for 1997. He married Helen Campbell in 1947 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Shelton of DeSoto; three brothers, John Lewis of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Jerry Lewis of El Paso and Larry Lewis of Dumas; two sisters, Dorothy Little of Amarillo and Evelyn Smith of Elephant Butte, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Elmhurst Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. McGuill was born in Louann, Ark. She attended business school in Joplin, Mo. She moved to Guymon in 1960 from Refugio, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church. She married Eugene "Gene" McGuill in 1947 at Refugio. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas William McGuill II. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Eugena Sterling of Roswell, N.M.; two sisters, Jimmie Lackie of San Antonio and Frances Herring of Refugio; two brothers, James Thomas Herring Jr. and Walter Richard Herring, both of Refugio; and four grandchildren. He served in the military during World War II and was a disabled veteran. He worked at the H.C. Hitch Ranch in Texas County, Guymon most of his life. He was a cowboy. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Mennonite Brethren Church at Adams, Okla., with the Rev. Frank Huebert of Fairview, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery near Adams by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker, Okla. Miss Balzer was born in Texas County, Okla., near Hooker. She graduated from Adams High School. She received a bachelor's degree at Tabor College, where she majored in English and minored in history. She taught for three years at Lustre Bible Academy in Lustre, Mont., then for 34 years at Larned High School. She was a scorekeeper for high school teams and sponsored the Larned High School cheerleaders. She was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Adams. Survivors include four brothers, Joelle Balzer of Prairieville, La., Ronald Balzer of Broken Arrow, Howard Balzer of Buhler and Ted Balzer of McPherson. "Skeet" Northern, 73, died Sunday, June 4, 2000. Graveside services were Wednesday, June 7, 2000 in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Hollywood Hills. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Las Posas, Third Ward, with Bishop Kurt Blickenstaff officiating. Mr. Northern was born in Corsicana, Texas. During World War II he served as a Navy corpsman. Later he was a drill instructor and helicopter pilot for Army units including the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. After his military service he worked as a pilot for the U.S. Geodetic Survey and for the U.S. Forestry Service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served as a member of the high priests quorum, financial secretary to the bishop and stake missionary. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Northern of Camarillo; four children, Van Northern and Wayne Northern, both of Amarillo, Velda Northern of the home in Camarillo and Rex Northern of Bakersfield; four sisters, Opal McDonald of Amarillo, Jane Geneva Gray of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lillie Davis of Lawton, Okla., and Winnie Hendricson of Redding; eight grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Burial will be in Gaines County South by Memorial Funeral Home of Seminole. Mr. Vuicich was born in Eagle Nest, N.M. He served in the Navy from 1945-46 and in the Army from 1946-53. He was a farmer and rancher. He owned and operated Vuicich Pontiac and V and V Imports in Seminole. In 1991, he moved to Breckenridge and owned the Wagon Wheel RV Park and Restaurant until 1997. He moved to Haskell in 1999. He was Greek Orthodox. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two sons, William Millet Vuicich of Seminole and Chris Vuicich of Breckenridge; two daughters, Gaylene Grimsley of Mesa, Colo., and Jeannie Vuicich Fulgham of Breckenridge; three stepsons, Dale Springer of Superior, Wyo., Derryl Love of Breckenridge and David Love of San Diego; a stepdaughter, Cathy Link of Midland; a sister, Maggie Robinson of Dallas; two brothers, Bud Vuicich of Ruidoso, N.M., and Mike Vuicich of New York; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Johnson was born in Clay County and lived in Amarillo from 1985-90 before moving to Borger. He became a minister in 1956 and was associate pastor of Riverview Baptist Church. He had been director for youth camp since 1970. He married Katherine Campbell in 1994 at Stinnett. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances, in 1990; and by a daughter, Kay Leach, in 1994. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Lorenz of Stinnett and Sidney Glick of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jones was born in Bogata. She moved to Bovina with her family in 1945 and to Lakeland in February. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bovina Church of Christ. She married Paul Jones in 1933 at Hugo, Okla. He died in February. Survivors include a son, Randy P. Jones of Lakeland; and one grandchild. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. McMennamy was born in Hale Center and moved to Plainview at age 9. He graduated from Plainview High in 1956 and attended West Texas State University. He worked for Cloverlake and for Rainbow Bread. In 1967 he began working for Englands and in 1976 he purchased the company. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Downtown Association. He served on the board of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. He married Royce Lynn Pyeatt in 1960 at Hart. He was preceded in death by a son, Jon David McMennamy, in 1966. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, D'Ann McGuire of Shallowater and Deedra Bowles of Longview; his mother, Allice McMennamy of Plainview; a brother, Barry McMennamy of Plainview; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Gaunder was born in Taos, N.M., and lived in the Perryton area since 1948. She worked for GTE Telephone, retiring in 1975. She was a member of First Christian Church. She married Paul Gaunder in 1925 at Taos. He died in 1968. She also was preceded in death by two sons. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Gaunder of Calera, Okla.; three daughters, Ann Guyger and Joanna Stevens, both of Graham and Patty Bulls of Farnsworth; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
