Holmes PERRYTON - Stacy K. Holmes, 41, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Ulrey officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Nevill's Chapel Cemetery at Mount Pleasant by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Holmes was born in Abilene and moved to the Perryton area from Odessa in 1987. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1977. He was a chemical technician and a member of First United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Ochiltree County Livestock Show Committee and the Canadian Bass Club. He married Janice Beard in 1978 at Odessa. Survivors include his wife; a son Stephen Holmes of the home; his father and stepmother, Wendell and Judy Holmes of Russell, Kan.; his mother, Gilda Holmes of Odessa; three brothers, Gary Holmes of Austin, Randy Holmes of Odessa and Kory Holmes of Irving; two stepsisters, Monica Stage of Woodstock, Ga., and Laurie Long of Katy; and a stepbrother, Martin Griese of Houston. Rhyne, 74, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Rhyne was born in Carbon, Eastland County, and had lived in Dumas almost 50 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He retired in 1982 as a supervisor for Phillips Petroleum. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married Gladys Marie Stacy in 1943 at Carbon. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Darlene Rhyne of Dumas; a son, Zandie Rhyne of Dumas; a brother, Dale Rhyne of Borger; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters. Amarillo Daily News, May 20, 2000 Homer Wylie Tucker MEMPHIS - Homer Wylie Tucker, 80, died Thursday, May 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Tucker was born in Clarendon and had lived in Memphis since 1940. He served in the Pacific Theater with the Navy during World War II and afterward was a partner in the Chevrolet car business with Tomie Potts. He also was involved with the building of Deville Motel at Memphis in 1970. He lived in Austin while employed by the Texas Industrial Commission and returned to Memphis in 1980. Mr. Tucker served as mayor of Memphis for four terms and was past president of the Memphis Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club. He had been a member of the Memphis School Board and the First Methodist Church, where he also had served as steward. He was a Mason and a member of the Khiva Shrine Temple. He married Tomie Ruth Potts. She died in 1972. He also was preceded in death by a son, Tomie Michael Tucker, in 1976. He married Joyce Read in 1972 at Austin. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lucheryl Tucker Speed of Memphis; a stepdaughter, Connie Childress Lingamfelter of League City; a sister, Louise Carter of Bloomington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was born in Guthrie and moved to Pampa in 1934. He worked for Gibsons and Wal-Mart. He was a member of the Hi-Land Christian Church. Mr. Johnson married Bertha Green in 1966 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Lynn Norwood of Amarillo; two daughters, Alice Elaine Taylor of Pensacola, Fla., and Teresa Ann Jackson of Glendale, Ariz.; his mother, Mabel Alice Johnson of Amarillo; a brother, Morris Johnson of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Walls was born in Shamrock and moved to Pampa in 1929. During World War II, she worked as a welder. She had worked at Woodrow Wilson School and was a bookkeeper for Walls Weed Control. She was a homemaker and member of the Central Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She married Orval Walls in 1932. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a son, Fred E. Walls, in 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Helms of Pampa and Patsy Goodwin of Yucaipa, Calif.; four sisters, Jewell Lyles, Vesta Phillips and Freddie Seitz, all of Pampa and Gerldean Haesell of Tulsa; a brother, Frank Conner of Pampa; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. He died in 1989. Survivors include four nephews, Fred Miller of Gruver, J.C. Mrs. Brock was born in Indian territory. She moved to Floyd County at an early age and attended Sand Hills Schools. In 1954, she moved to the Plainview area, where she worked as a cook at Nichols Hospital and at Methodist Hospital. She was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ. She married Thomas E. Brock in 1925 at Floyd County. He died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by a son, John Henry Brock. Survivors include a daughter, Florence Bowe of Delano, Calif; a son, Donnie Brock of Dalhart; a sister, Edna Ellis of Houston; eight grandchildren; and greatgrandchildren. He was a charter member of South Georgia Baptist Church and was a Bible scholar and teacher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Guthrie, in 1984; and by a daughter, Jean Guthrie, in 1999. Mrs. Hampton was born in Arapahoe, Okla. She lived in Amarillo in the early 1960s and operated the Morning Sun Laundry. She later worked as a real estate agent for Century 21. She moved to Howardwick in the early 1980s and served as a city councilwoman. She married Norman Hampton in 1954 at Roswell, N.M. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Stewart. Survivors include a son, Robert W. Stewart of Amarillo; a daughter, Zonia Scott of Amarillo; a sister, Lillian Nelson of Clinton, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 37 in Canyon. Mr. Quintana married Sara in 1969 at Canyon. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Melinda Lynn Rodriguez and Rebecca Jo Quintana, both of Amarillo; a son, Julian Edward Quintana of Amarillo; six sisters, Juanita Chavez, Mary Ann Carter, Veronica Escalante, Mary Louise Dockery and Roberta Audry, all of Amarillo, and Elena Tirado, of Canyon; three brothers, Louis A. Local arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Eastin was born in Friona. She was a graduate of Canyon High School and attended McMurray University and West Texas State University. While at WTSU she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She transferred to San Antonio in 1952 as an international telephone operator, retiring from SWBT in 1981. She was a member of the Travis Street Methodist Church in San Antonio. She married Dick Eastin in 1954 at San Antonio. Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Elaine Blewett Buckner of Doylestown, Pa., and Theresa Blewett Cosner of Hammond, La.; and a brother, Lynn Blewett of Canyon. Mr. Williams was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1945. He worked for the city of Clovis in the sanitation department, retiring in 1990. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 117 and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He married Della Faye Martin May in 1970 at Clovis.
