Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Dickerson, pastor, and the Rev. Harold Scarbrough, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park North Mausoleum by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Bostick was born in Tell and had lived in Amarillo for the past 50 years. He joined the Amarillo Fire Department in 1962, retiring as lieutenant in 1992. He was a volunteer for the BSA Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Bostick married Francies Ann Giles in 1954 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1997. He married Jane Hutchinson Becker in 1998 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Curtis Van Bostick of Cedar City, Utah, and Kenneth Andrew Bostick of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathy Lee Ann Bostick of Lubbock; a brother, O.W. "Tex" Bostick of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Ann Coldsmith of Austin; three stepchildren; six grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 20, 2000 Lynette McQueen Lynette McQueen, 79, formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road, with David McQueen, of Beltway Baptist in Abilene, and the Rev. Sherman Eastland, staff chaplain at Northwest Texas Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. McQueen had lived in Clarendon since 1994 and previously lived in Amarillo for 28 years and in Goodnight for 15 years. She was a charter member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church of Amarillo. She married Harvey "C.H." McQueen in 1939 at Coleman. Survivors include her husband; two sons, C.V. McQueen of Pampa and J.M. McQueen of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Pat Burch of Amarillo; a sister, Virginia Seaton of Denver; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Branum was born in Amarillo and attended Palo Duro High School. She was a Baptist. She married Bobby E. Branum in 1959. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Dale Branum, in 1994. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Raymond Branum of Detroit and Mark Branum of the home; two daughters, Teena Billstrom of Amarillo and Mary Branum of Detroit; a brother, Cliff Osborn of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 20, 2000 New Mexico Lester F. Keeter CLOVIS, N.M. - Lester F. Keeter, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000. No services are planned. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Keeter was born in Tulia, Texas. He graduated from Wake Forrest in North Carolina. He served as vice president of First National Bank in Melrose before being drafted into the military. During World War II, he served as a captain in the Army Air Corps. He worked for Clovis Production Credit, and after retirement he began his own accounting business. Mr. Keeter was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Keeter; a brother, Elmer Keeter of Phoenix; and a sister, Alma Keeter of San Diego. Mrs. Adams was born in Dumas, Texas. She moved to Clovis in 1964 and graduated from Clovis High School in 1975. She worked in banking, accounting and real estate. She started a skin-care and makeup business. She was a member of Texico Assembly of God at Texico. She married Rich Adams in 1983 at Clovis. Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael Adams of the home; a daughter, Danielle Adams of the home; her parents, Lamon and Irene Wilson of Clovis; three brothers, Bill Wilson of Phoenix, Hoyt Wilson of Dalton, Ga., and Leon Wilson of Clovis; a sister, Imagene Rainey of Amarillo; and a grandfather, Herman Weaver of Dalton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in New Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Ronnie Hedges, elder, officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery by MooreRose-White Funeral Home. Elder Richardson was born in Lakeview. He attended Leatherwood School. He moved to Floyd County in 1938 from Crosby County. He farmed until 1956 and then drove a bus until retiring in 1970. He also was a minister. He married Zelma Faye Rogers in 1929 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1990. Survivors include a son, Wayland Richardson of Plainview; three daughters, Geneva Bennett of Floydada, Gwen McDonald of Cross, S.C., and Estelle Tanner of Lubbock; a sister, Rena Barris of Clovis; 15 grandchildren; 49 greatgrandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Harmon, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in Amarillo. No services are planned. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Harmon was born in Weleetka, Okla. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Phillips Petroleum and later was a truck driver for Air Liquide. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Allene Watson in 1944 at Borger. He later married Mildred Johnson in Borger. She died in September. Survivors include a daughter, Corva Murphy of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Bill Harmon of Fort Worth and Gil Harmon of Sun City, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Calvin Stalter, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery at Amarillo. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Batenhorst was born in Umbarger and had lived in Shamrock for 20 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and rancher for most of his life and also owned and operated Joe's Irish Service Center. He was a member of the American Legion De Shazo George Post No. 68 and the Catholic church. Mr. Batenhorst married Hazel Milhoan in 1947 at Vega. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Henry Batenhorst of Vega and Larry Batenhorst of Goodwell, Okla.; two daughters, Polly Pollard and Jeanette Batenhorst, both of Shamrock; his mother, Clara Batenhorst of Panhandle; four brothers, Henry Batenhorst Sr. of Hereford, Jimmy Batenhorst of Wildorado, Gene Batenhorst of Amarillo and Gerald Batenhorst of Fritch; two sisters, Margaret Hammer of Panhandle and Bernadette Spurgeon of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She married Orvel William Morris in 1945 at Canyon. He died in 1988. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Elaine Morris, in 1961. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 20, 2000 Kenneth Maxwell HEREFORD - Kenneth Maxwell, 67, formerly of Hereford, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, in Wellington. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Bowie Street Church of Christ of Wellington with Kevin Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Quail Cemetery at Quail by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Maxwell was born in Allison. He served in the Army during the Korean War and for the Army National Guard. He lived in Hereford for 11 years, serving as deputy sheriff and as a highway patrolman for the Department of Public Safety. He moved to Wellington as a trooper and was Collingsworth sheriff. Mr. Maxwell worked with several other law enforcement agencies and had also been self-employed in sales and manufacturing. He operated Wellington Transportation Services. He was a member and deacon of the Bowie Street Church of Christ. He married Flora Ladell Chandler in 1953 at Wellington. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Maxwell Jr. of Boston, Mass., and Randall Kent Maxwell of Maysville, Okla.; two brothers, Dean Maxwell of Iowa Park and John Maxwell of San Jose, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Fires of Wellington, Glennis Shields of Amarillo and Joyce Disharoon of Allen, Okla.; three grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 20, 2000 Samuel J. Carr SUDAN - Samuel J. "Red" Carr, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Sudan Cemetery with the Rev. Cliff Hargrove, of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Carr was born in Tulia. He served in the Navy and the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had lived in Sudan since 1946, working for gins and as a mechanic for car dealers in the Sudan area. Survivors include a sister, Billie Money of Sudan; and three brothers, Joe Carr of Abilene, Dick Carr of Canyon Lake and Bob Carr of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Emergency Medical Service of Sudan. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 20, 2000 Allie Smith DARROUZETT - Allie Smith, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, Perryton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery of Booker by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Beaver County, Oklahoma. After graduating from Booker High School in 1932 she went to work for the bank in Booker. She lived south of Darrouzett and engaged in farming and ranching, until moving to Darrouzett in 1984. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Darrouzett Senior Citizens. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Roberts. She married Garnett Smith in 1951 at Perryton. He died in 1984. Survivors include a sister, Thelma Longhofer of Booker.
