McVicker MULESHOE - J.E. "Mac" McVicker, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Reeves, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. McVicker was born in Plainview. During World War II, he served as a Navy petty officer. He moved to Muleshoe in 1954 from Plainview. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board and board of trustees. He was past president of the Muleshoe Lions Club and a member of the OFC Golf Club. He married Virginia "Jenne" Curry in 1944 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David McVicker of Lubbock and Dan McVicker of Dallas; two daughters, Jan King of Amarillo and Susan McVicker of Austin; two sisters, Kathryn Carlisle of Plainview and Dorothy Biggers of Terrell; a brother, George McVicker of Plainview; seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 20, 2000 Charles Lewis MULESHOE - Charles "Grundy" Lewis, 88, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Reeves officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Lewis was born in Meridian and lived in Muleshoe 65 years. He attended Tarleton College in Stephenville. During World War II he served with the Navy Seabees in Hawaii and at Midway Island. He served on the boards of the Bailey County Co-Op and the Needmore Co-Op Gin. He was a Methodist. He married Eula Mae Bean in 1957. She died later that year. Survivors include a sister, Louis Cooper of Houston. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church or the Muleshoe Area Healthcare Center. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 20, 2000 Chloe Klutts MULESHOE - Chloe Klutts, 98, formerly of the Muleshoe area, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Glen Williams of Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Bailey County Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Klutts was born in Board Camp, Ark., and moved with her family to the Oklahoma Territory. She earned her teaching certificate from East Central State Teachers College at Ada and taught for several years. During her 58 years in Bailey County she lived in the communities of Stegall, Baileyboro, Needmore, Fairview and Goodland. She had lived in Lubbock since 1989. She was a homemaker and attended Primitive Baptist Church of Muleshoe. She married Robert Richard Klutts in 1926 at Shawnee, Okla. He died in 1971. Survivors include a son, R.J. "Bob" Klutts of Lubbock; four daughters, Lucille Doyle and Barbara DeVoss, both of Lubbock, Virginia Foley of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Linda Ellis of Southland; a brother, Glen Williams of Muleshoe; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Langford was born in Olton and grew up in Dimmitt. He was a carpenter for Dimmitt Ready Mix for 30 years. He married Claudine Boggs in 1950 in Comanche County, Okla. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Langford, in 1995. Survivors include his wife; a son, Fredrick Lee Langford of Denton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. He lived in Hall County until moving to Hedley in 1950. He was a farmer and a Baptist. He married Minnie Viola Eunice Pounds in 1940 at Memphis. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Diane Ward, in 1958; and by a son, Ronald Lynn Ward, in 1998. Interstate 40, in Amarillo. Mr. Andis was born in Gray County. He attended Grandview Elementary school and graduated from Pampa High School. He attended Texas Tech for two years. In 1974 he moved from Pampa to Donley County, where he was a rancher. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 1961 and Top of Texas Lodge No. 1381. He married Vera Lee von Brunow in 1941 at Pampa. He graduated from Morton High School in 1978 and attended South Plains College. He was a member of the United States Custom Harvesting Association and the owner of Dobson Custom Harvesting Co. He married Terri Copeland in 1999 at Justiceburg. He moved to Amarillo in the early 1950s. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Southwestern Public Service Co. in 1986 and moved to Las Vegas. He returned to Amarillo in 1998. He was a Baptist. He married Bessie Louise Trapp in 1954 at Clayton, N.M. She died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Billy Carman of Las Vegas and David Carman of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Cheryl Lee of Amarillo; two sisters, Jo Ann Dechant of Woodstock, Ill., and Marry Adkins of Norway, Maine; a brother, Harvey Carman of Paris, Maine; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue & Pierce Street. Mr. White was born in Childress. He moved to Amarillo 52 years ago. He served in the Army in the Pacific. He was a plant operator for Southwestern Public Service Co. He was an assistant associate for American Association of Retired Persons 55 Alive and a volunteer tax preparer for AARP. He coached girls basketball and softball for Kids, Inc. and was a member of the Amarillo Umpires Association. In 1991 he was inducted into the Texas Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in recognition of his umpiring. He was a deacon and member of Rockwell Road Baptist Church. He married Patsy Johnson in 1951 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jeanie Bell of Manor and Susie Neal and Kathy Balline, both of Fritch; three sisters, Mary Ann Mitchell of Mount View, Ark., Deanie Gannon of Honolulu, Hawaii and Earline Dement of Lubbock; a half-sister, Faye Hall of Kermit; and six grandchildren. Burial will be at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Cawlfield was born in Texhoma. She lived in Memphis from 1942 to 1959, then in Guymon more than 20 years before moving to Amarillo in 1982. She earned her degree in elementary education from Panhandle State at Goodwell, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Guy Cawlfield in 1935 at Texhoma. He died in 1981. She also was preceded in death by a son, Steven Cawlfield, in 1959. Survivors include two daughters, Guyula Dunn of Wichita Falls and Frances Smith of Lelia Lake; two sons, Ronald Cawlfield of Brownsville and Arnold Cawlfield of Lubbock; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She moved to Austin about a year and a half ago. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Smith; two daughters, Kaye Berry of Austin and Pamela Laing of Roxana, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to the Child Development Center at University Presbyterian Church.
