Mr. Moore was born in Dawn. He graduated from Hereford High School and attended West Texas State College. He had lived in Wildorado for 69 years and farmed in Deaf Smith County. He was a longtime member of the Wildorado School Board and also was a member of other community organizations and committees. He married Carroll Meredith in 1954 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Jil Moore of Amarillo; two sons, Joe Moore and Al K. Moore, both of Wildorado; five sisters, Neta Harrell of Montclair, Calif., Darlene Truman of Amarillo, Joyce Lewellyn of Caldwell, Idaho, Kathryn Montgomery of Wilmington, Del., and Alyce Dawson of Shawnee, Okla.; a brother, D.T. She was a longtime Dalhart resident until moving to Lumberton 11 years ago. She was a member of First Christian Church. Mendez, 80, formerly of Dalhart, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Houston. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Mendez was born in Lawton, Okla. He grew up between Dalhart and Boise City, Okla. From 1940 until 1945, he served with the Army Corp of Engineers in the South Pacific as a master sergeant. He served in the National Guard from 1945 until 1954. He married Dorothy Mae Brady in 1945. He retired as a mechanic at Felty Chevrolet in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War and was a member of the Lion's Club. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Rock Island Masonic Lodge No. 869 and the Lubbock Scottish Rite. He also was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Dalhart. Mr. Mendez was a Houston resident at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Mendez of Austin and Dr. Thom Mendez of Houston; a daughter, Laura Mendez of Houston; and four sisters, Lucille Springer of New Braunfels, Vera Glasco of Vinita, Okla., Irene Cook of Canyon Lake and Julia Murray of Glendale, Ariz. Burial will be at 5 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Glaze was born in Stamford. She was a retired licensed vocational nurse who managed nursing homes in Lamesa, Brownfield, Lockney and Tulia. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Plainview. Her first marriage was to Robert Kropp in 1939. He died in 1950. She then married David Glaze in 1969. He preceded her in death in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hanson of Midland; two sons, Robert Kropp of Carrollton and James Kropp of Oxnard, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Monte Kreis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Gould Cemetery in Gould, Okla., by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. Smith was born in Madill, Okla., and was a longtime Wellington resident. She was a nurse's aide for Collingsworth General Hospital and a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 238 and the First United Methodist Church. Her first marriage was to Elvis Oller in 1930 at Madill. He died in 1966. She married Eddie Smith in 1967 at Wellington. She was preceded in death by Mr. Smith in 1984 and by a son, Jimmy Nickell. Survivors include a son, Bill Nickell of Wellington; a sister, Pauline Smith of Wellington; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Seemann was born in Seward County, Kansas. In 1955, he moved to Perryton from Hugoton, Kan. In 1994, he retired after 25 years as an oil field driller for Leonard Hudson Drilling. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He married Celia Ellis in 1998. His first marriage was to Verla in 1947 at Hugoton. She died in 1995. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ted K. Mr. Henderson was born in Austin where he was a longtime resident before retiring to Alpine in 1985. In 1976, he retired after more than 30 years as a toll test technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alpine. During World War II, Mr. Henderson served with the Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force. He had lived in Pampa for the past year. He married Violet Werner in 1946 at Laredo. She died in 1993. Survivors include three sons, Jack R. Henderson of Tow, Randy Henderson of Austin and Gary Henderson of Pampa; a sister, Etta Byron of Austin; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Stewart was born in Parnell and had lived in Dumas since 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God. Mrs. Millican was born in Girard and lived most of her life in Kent and Palmer counties. She was a homemaker and member of Church of Christ and Senior Citizens. She married Floyd Millican in 1940 at Girard. He died in 1994. She is survived by a sister, Lorilla Bradley, of Floydada. She was bookkeeper at Spearman Super Service and later at Golden Spread Sales Co. She retired in 1998. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Louis L. Lemons in 1948 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1993. Survivors include two sons, James Lemons of Mascoutah, Ill., and Frank Lemons of Hannibal, Mo.; and four grandchildren. He was employed by Piggly Wiggly in Littlefield and by Energas. After his retirement, he was self-employed. He married Frankie Turner in 1961 at Littlefield. After retirement, he worked for Burns and Associates. He was a member of the Gold Wing Riders and Never Too Old Senior Bowling League. He married Roxie Crook in 1949 at Tulsa. She died in July. Mr. McCollum was born in Crystal Lake, Ill. He graduated from Northwestern University and was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Mr. McCollum retired in 1975 as head of the electrical engineering department of Creole Petroleum Corp., an affiliate of Exxon. In 1989, he moved from Austin to Amarillo where he was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. He married Virginia Nicholls in 1954 at Vicksburg, Miss. Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard McCollum of Amarillo; a daughter, Helen Wight of Lakeway; a brother, John McCollum of Naperville, Ill.; and a grandson. Hughes St. Mrs. Majors was born in Pennington and attended schools in Memphis, graduating in 1956. She moved to San Antonio where she graduated from Hicks Beauty School. In 1966, she moved to Amarillo where she worked in Sunset Mall as a beauty specialist. In 1985, Mrs. Majors retired as a supervisor at Affiliated Food Distribution Center. She opened the Washington Street Beauty Shop in 1986 which she owned and operated. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Majors, in 1996. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Wesley of Thornton, Colo., Bill Wesley of Los Angeles and Charles Wesley of Amarillo; her parents, John and Katrina Chandler of Amarillo; three sisters, Ester Walker and Joyce Chandler, both of Tyler, and Doris Gardner of Amarillo; and three brothers, John Chandler Jr. of Amarillo and Ed and Ernest Chandler, both of Colorado. She was a retired truck driver and a Christian. She married Tom Oliver in 1952 at Hereford. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Oliver, in 1985. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Connie Nickels and Penny Maloney, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Sam Perkins of Amarillo, Sid Perkins of Brownwood and Bob Perkins of Boyd; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 21, 2000 Oklahoma Jacob F. Balzer HOOKER, Okla. - Jacob F. Balzer, 97, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Adams Mennonite Brethren Church in Adams with the Rev. Tim Sullivan and the Rev. Frank Huebert officiating. Burial will be in Adams Mennonite Brethren Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Okla. Mr. Balzer was born in Inman, Kan., and moved to Hooker in 1906. He was a member of the Hooker Mennonite Brethren Church (later the Adams Mennonite Brethren Church) where he served as Sunday school teacher, church secretary, correspondent for the Zionsbote publication and as a representative for the Mennonite Hilfs-Plan. Mr. Balzer was a farmer and carpenter. After retiring in 1971, he served for two years with the Mennonite Brethren Missions and Services at the Home for the Aged in Corn. In 1993, he moved to Hillsboro, Kan. He married Lydia Plett in 1965. His first marriage was to Olga Friesen in 1928. He was preceded in death by Olga in 1964 and an infant son, Donald Dean Balzer. Survivors include his wife; five children, Joelle Balzer of Prairieville, La., Elnadine Balzer of Larned, Kan., Ronald Balzer of Broken Arrow, Howard Balzer of Buhler, Kan., and Ted Balzer of McPherson, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
