She worked for Southwestern Public Service Co. as a legal secretary. She and her husband, Lewis Charles Smith, owned and operated A-1 TV until their retirement. She was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; and by a son, Lewis Gary Smith, in 1998. Survivors include a son, Kenny Smith of the home. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired sales manager. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Billiard Congress of America and a former member of Knights of Columbus. He was instrumental in Kids, Inc. baseball and adult softball leagues. He married Irene Doerfler in 1957 at Amarillo. "Bill" McIntyre, 84, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000. Mr. McIntyre was born in Erick, Okla. He served in the Army during World War II. He moved to Amarillo from Silverton in 1948. He was a custodian at the Pantex Plant. He was a member of the Custodian Union at the Pantex Plant and a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He married Ann Harris in 1955 at Clovis. She died in 1995. He also was preceded in death by a son, Marun "Babe" Rogers, in 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Heaton of Amarillo and Martha Jordan of Wildorado; three sons, Don McIntyre of Friend, Neb., and Billy McIntyre and Sonny Rogers, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Pauline Hooper of Springtown and Betty Jefferson of Erick, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. Survivors include cousins, Betty Wortley, Renn Wortley and Carol Dyer, all of Australia; and her care giver, Betty Ferry of Amarillo. He graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1955 and joined the Navy that year. He served at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis and three tours in Vietnam, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Wesley Drive United Methodist Church. He married Kathy L. O'Dell in 1985 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Catlin, in 1981. Mr. Arellano was born in Clayton and was a lifetime resident. He worked for the Clayton Police Department and for Star Lumber Co. He had been port supervisor at the Clayton and Nara Visa ports of entry for New Mexico Motor Transportation since 1980. He served in the New Mexico National Guard, retiring as staff sergeant. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He married Priscilla Chavez in 1959 in Clayton. Amarillo Daily News, June 21, 2000 Madison Henry Newton LITTLEFIELD - Madison Henry Newton, 79, formerly of Anton, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Littlefield. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Anton with the Rev. B.J. Foster officiating. Burial will be in Anton Cemetery by Hammonds Funeral Home. Mr. Newton was born near Rule in Haskell County. He graduated from Anton High School in 1938. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a pilot in the 8th Air Force, 359th Fighter Group, 370th Squadron based in Wretham, England. He was awarded several medals and officially credited with three aerial victories. After the war he entered Texas Tech, graduating in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in history. He farmed until his retirement in 1973. He was president of Anton Lions Club and a booster for Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Lodge No. 1272. He married Betty Jo Wright in 1951. Survivors include a son, Monty Newton of Austin; a daughter, Kimberly Hunter of Germany; the mother of his children, Betty Jo Neal of Amarillo; two brothers, Flannery of Littlefield and Doyle Newton of County Line; a sister, Kay Williams of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Trussell was born in Corsicana. In 1953 she moved to Plainview from Amarillo. She worked at F.W. Woolworth Co.; West Drug and Sears, Roebuck & Co. She was a teacher's aide in Plainview Independent School District and owned TNT Enterprize. She was a member of 11th & Amarillo Church of Christ. She married Travis Trussell in 1958 at Plainview. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kelly Schaffer of Pampa; her mother, Juanita Phinny of Amarillo; two brothers, Ronald Phinny of Amarillo and Jimmy Phinny of Baytown; and a grandson. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rowe Cemetery of Hedley. Mr. Tollett was born in Nashville, Ark., and lived in Borger since 1952. He owned and operated grocery stores including Tollett & Sanders, Buddy's and Earl's Grocery until retiring in the mid-70s. In 1958 he began ranching and became a well-known exhibitor of Angus cattle. He was inducted into the New Mexico Angus Hall of Fame in 1987. He was a supporter of Borger Future Farmers of America and Frank Phillips College. He was a charter member of Hedley's Lions Club and was a Baptist. He married Wauline Wall in 1936 at Hedley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudine Tollett; and by a son, Thomas Earl Tollett. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Allen Tollett of Houston, Jimmy Tollett of Dalhart and Jeffry Tollett of San Antonio; four sisters, Amaline Taylor of Amarillo, Hazel Darnell and Mutt Blanks, both of Memphis and Geraldine Harris of Ventura, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He lived in Bovina nine years, moving from El Paso. Before that he lived in Albuquerque, N.M. from 1944 to 1980. He retired as a commercial refrigeration repairman. He was a Baptist. He married Helen Moser in 1929 at Lamar, Colo. She died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Atchley of Bovina; a sister, Thelma L. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. He worked in the propane and gas wholesale business and farmed for much of his life before he retired. He was an Episcopalian. He married Louise Corgill in 1981 at Tucumcari, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debbie Douty of Killeen and Nancy Hood of Atlanta; a son, David Hood of Austin; a stepdaughter, Reta Barry of Taylor; a stepson, Bo Garvin of Big Spring; a sister, Nelda Ferrell of Childress; a brother, Harlan Hood of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren.
