Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bell Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Logan officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Jackson was born in Roaring Springs. He served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Pioneer Natural Gas Corp. as a gas plant supervisor. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 731, Order of the Eastern Star and Bell Avenue Baptist Church. He married Edwy Carver in 1950 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Lowell Jackson of Seoul, South Korea and Mark Wesley Jackson of Amarillo; a sister, Madge Schnur of Black River Falls, Wis.; a brother, Gafford Jackson of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Shriner's Crippled Children's fund. Paul Dudenhoeffer, 73, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Clark Williams of First United Methodist Church in Canyon officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Dudenhoeffer was born in Gainesville. During World War II he served with the Coast Guard as a merchant marine. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, a Randall County 4-H leader and the Rolling Hills Riding Club. He also was a member of First United Methodist Church at Canyon. He married Arlene Dowdy in 1948 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Vaughn of Odessa and Molly Dudenhoeffer of Amarillo; a son, Mike Dudenhoeffer of Panhandle; a sister, Rebecca Dowdy of Lampasas; a brother, Joe Dudenhoeffer of Lampasas; and three grandchildren. Doris Bailey Gilbreath, 97, formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Chesterfield, Mo. Memorial graveside services for Mrs. Gilbreath and her husband will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Dickerson of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements in Missouri were by the Cremation Society of St. Louis at Clayton, Mo. Mrs. Gilbreath was born in Quinlan. She lived in Amarillo from 1923 to 1990, when she moved to Chesterfield. She was a homemaker and a past member of Summitt Baptist Church, San Jacinto Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry F. "Red" Gilbreath, in 1994; and by a daughter, Ruth Gilbreath Campbell, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Bill F. Gilbreath of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Nelma Gilbreath Welch of Ballwin, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Viola Rendon, 91, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Georgia St. Mrs. Rendon was born in Leroy. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe McBroom. Survivors include three sisters, Izell Hamilton of Snyder, Genevieve Brown of Amarillo and Pat Dodds of Las Vegas; a brother, Sam Cross of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Dale L. Stahl, 40, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Keller of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Morton and Faye Stahl of Amarillo; a brother, Wendell Stahl of Amarillo; and two sisters, Barbara Chischilly of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Rhonda Van Huss of Olive Branch, Miss. "Jim" Barnes, 68, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Olsen Park Seventh Day Adventist Church with Bradley Galambos, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. MDT Thursday in Fort Logan National Cemetery at Denver by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Barnes was born in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and had lived in Colorado for many years, where he retired as an educator. He moved to Justin and worked for ALCATEL, retiring in 1998. He then moved to Amarillo. He served in the Air Force Secret Service, stationed in Fountanbleu France near Paris. He was an accomplished musician. He married Peggy Hull in 1972 at Loveland, Colo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Eve Marie Popal of Morrison, Colo.; a son, James A. Barnes of Farmington, N.M.; two stepsons, Michael Willey of Folsom, N.M., and Mark Willey of the home; a stepdaughter, Ramona Middleton-Carnes of Princeton; two sisters, Lois Stillingter and Carol Bosanko, both of Roseville, Calif; a brother, W. Emmett "Bud" Barnes of Lebanon, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. MULESHOE - Apolinar "Paul" Hernandez, 65, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Augustine, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bailey County Cemetery. Mr. Hernandez was born in Seguin. He moved to Muleshoe in 1982 from Ulysses, Kan. He worked as an irrigation-pipe installer. He was a Catholic. He married Inez Rangel in 1959. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Hernandez of Plainview and Luis Hernandez of Amarillo; a daughter, Rosa Anna Hernandez of Plainview; a sister, Eluteria Chavez of Seguin; and eight grandchildren. PANHANDLE - Donna Beth Sosebee, 57, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Vernon of Levelland officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Mintonƒ/ƒChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Sosebee was born in Hollis, Okla., and graduated from Borger High School in 1961. She was a longtime resident of Panhandle. She was a secretary at First National Bank of Panhandle and a member of First Baptist Church in Panhandle. She married Tommy Sosebee in 1961 at Borger. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jody Sosebee of Panhandle; three daughters, Tonya Gregory and Lisa Ferguson, both of Panhandle and Kim Garner of Sharpsburg, Ga.; four sisters, Norma Parrish of Liberty City, JoAnn McLane of Arlington, Judy Stedham of Panhandle and Judy Murphy of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. FRIONA - Mike Pavalus, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Petty officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Pavalus was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio. He served in the Army during World War II. In 1949 he moved from Chicago to Friona, where he was a lab technician for Parmer County Community Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion and Calvary Baptist Church. He married Anona Thornton in 1949 at Chicago. She died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Mike E. Pavalus of Littleton, Colo.; and a sister, Helen Chini of Uhrichsville. The family suggests memorials be to Calvary Baptist Church in Friona or Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo. PLAINVIEW - Myra Duvall, 74, formerly of Plainview, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church with Drew Travis of the church officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Wood-Dunning funeral Home. Mrs. Duvall was born in Big Spring. She graduated from high school in Long Beach, Calif. She moved to Plainview from Lubbock in 1959 and returned to Lubbock in July. She married Joseph Robert "Dutch" Duvall in 1960 at Amarillo. He died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Paula Moore of Lubbock; a brother, Floyd King of Long Beach; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church. PLAINVIEW - Letha Powdrill, 96, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Chatham, pastor of Happy Union Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Powdrill was born in Louisiana. Survivors include three grandchildren, Willie James of Waldorf, Md., William Buckner of Newport News, Va., and Dorothy Buckner of Peoria, Ill. CLOVIS, N.M. - Henry Alls, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Mission Garden of Memories. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Alls was born in Swenson, Texas. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a cowboy for most of his life. He had lived in Clovis since 1957. He was a Baptist. Survivors include three brothers, John Alls of Amarillo, Sid Alls of Denver and Buddy Alls of Clovis. The family will be at 137 E. Plains. KEYES, Okla. - Bonnie Avis Showalter Hoxie, 88, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Keyes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Del Watkins officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City, Okla. Mrs. Hoxie was born in Hurley, Okla. During World War II she served in the civilian Air Force at California. She was a Scout leader in Arkansas and had worked as an accountant and tax preparer in Oklahoma, Wyoming, Arkansas and California. She was a member of the Music Club and the Cimarron Heritage Center in Boise City, the Delphinium Garden Club of Guymon, the Rebekah Lodge No. 363 and the United Methodist Women at Keyes, Keyes Senior Citizens, and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. She was a musician, a poet and a longtime member of Keyes United Methodist Church. She married Jack Hoxie, a western movie star, in 1944 at Las Vegas. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Pat Conner of Keyes; a son, Jack Hoxie Jr. of Lodi, Calif.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to Rebekah Lodge No. 363 in Keyes or the United Methodist Women of Keyes. Memorials will be accepted by the funeral home. SAN ANTONIO - Ervin M. Hanna, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, near Somerset. Memorial services were Aug. 7 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with Capt. Rick Rogers, chaplain, officiating. Burial with military honors was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Mr. Hanna was born and raised in Pilger, Neb. During World War II he served with the Army in the South Pacific. He also served in Japan, Korea and Germany. He received two Bronze Stars, two Silver Stars and the Purple Heart. He retired from the Army in 1962 as a tech sergeant. After his retirement he traveled across the country in a recreational vehicle. He was a former Amarillo resident. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Emalien Hanna; three daughters, Teresa Marie Meadows of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lynn Dell Morse of Brighton, Colo., and Marcia Blanche Fitzgerald of Somerset; two sons, Donald Ervin Hanna of San Rafael, Calif., and Richard John Hanna of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; a sister, Gertrude Roe of Alamogordo, N.M.; two brothers, Grant Hanna of Hereford and John Hanna Jr. of Morton, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. MCALLEN - James Carroll Schmidt, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ellis Orozco officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Kreidler Funeral Home. Mr. Schmidt was born in Claude. He was valedictorian of his high school class. During World War II he served in the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He served as president of various banks in Texas before moving to the valley in 1985. He retired from Alamo National Bank in Alamo in 1998. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen and the Pharr Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances. Survivors include his wife, Sue Schmidt of McAllen; a daughter, Marilyn Lapp of Houston; a son, Michael Schmidt of Grand Prairie; three sisters, Wanda Miller of Amarillo, Ida Person of Irvington, N.Y., and Vera Mills of San Angelo; a brother, Donald Schmidt of Glastonbury, Conn; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund or the I.D.D. Program of the Kiwanis Club of Pharr. PASADENA - Gerald A. "Jerry" Fillman, 68, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Pasadena Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jon Redmond officiating. Mr. Fillman was born in Electra. He had lived in Lefors and moved to Pasadena in 1952. He worked in the oil and gas industry and formed his own company, Coastal Flow Measurement, in 1974, which still operates in Clear Lake City. He married LaVaughn Mullins in 1948. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Curtis R. Fillman and Mark B. Fillman; two daughters, Ann Whitman and Sally Anerousis; a brother, Raynor Fillman of Pasadena; a sister, Susie Fillman Freeman of Winter Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; and a special friend and care-giver, Sharon Reed. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday.
