Lewis PAMPA - Vernon E. Lewis, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John Glover, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Lewis was born in Pampa. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, rising to the rank of staff sergeant. He worked as a service manager for Ford dealerships in Pampa, Borger, Amarillo and Hereford. He moved back to Pampa in 1983 from Hereford. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and First Baptist Church. He married Maxine Davenport in 1940 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon Bridges of Pampa; two brothers, Clifford Lewis of Pampa and James Lewis of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel at Clovis, N.M., with the Rev. Richard Laverty officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace at Farwell. Mrs. Howard was born in Portales, N.M. She moved from Portales to Farwell in 1970. She was a cook for Farwell schools. She was a member of the Farwell and Texico Senior Citizens and Baxter Hall Senior Citizens of Clovis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Howard, in 1988. Survivors include three sons, Buttons Howard of Lubbock, Paul Howard of Canyon and Coy Howard of Fort Worth; a daughter, Sharon Barker of Pueblo, Colo.; a brother, Dub Pearson of Bryan; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She graduated from Haskell High School and attended Texas Christian University, where she played basketball. She was a member of First Christian Church in Haskell and taught Sunday school there for more than 25 years. She also was a member of First Christian Church in Hereford. She married Guy Collins in 1925 at Newcastle. He died in 1962. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Olney. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mrs. Blake was born in Marietta, Okla., and moved to Shamrock as a child. She graduated from high school in Shamrock then attended the nursing program at Baptist General Hospital. She worked for Dr. Hammer and then as a nurse at Shamrock General Hospital, retiring in 1963. In 1987 she moved to Abilene where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In Shamrock she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She married Tom Blake in 1963 at Pampa. He died in 1989. Survivors include a son, Dan Grogan of Rancho Atascadero, Calif.; a daughter, Margaret Grogan Settle of Clyde; a brother, T.M. He married Wilma Darlene Pierce in 1953 at Hale Center. She died in 1983. After her marriage she moved to Plainview where she and her husband owned and operated Barley's Refrigeration and Electric from 1957 until 1982. She was a Baptist. She married Arnold H. Barley Sr. in 1943 at Portales, N.M. He died in 1982. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 22, 2000 Bennie Inez Woods BEAVER, Okla. - Bennie Inez Woods, 80, of Augusta, Ga., died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000. Services will be Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Beaver with Dr. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Ochiltree County Cemetery in Perryton, Texas by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mrs. Woods was born in Comanche and as an infant moved to Perryton with her parents in a covered wagon. After her first husband's death she moved to California where she attended business college and worked in an office. After five years she returned to Perryton. In 1958 Mrs. Woods moved to Beaver where she worked as a deputy for Olman Overton, the Beaver County treasurer. After her retirement she was treasurer for schools in Balko and Turpin. In 1996 she moved to Augusta. Her first marriage was in 1937 to Raphel Easter. He died in 1947. Her second marriage was in 1955 to Eugene "Woody" Woods who also preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Benny Easter of Augusta; a daughter, Carmen; a brother, Gene; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Texhoma Cemetery at Texhoma, Okla. Mr. Hamilton was born in Amarillo. He had been a longtime resident of the Cold Water Community, Texas, before moving to Highfill in 1972. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist. He married Helen Schrayer in 1959. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Dale Hamilton, Bob Hamilton, Paul Hamilton and Jimmy Hamilton, all of Highfill; a sister, Beverly Rush of Amarillo; and 10 grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Harrell Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Bertrand Cemetery in Felt, Okla. Mr. Ikard was born in Clovis, N.M., and lived in Elkhart since 1980. He was a teacher and a farmer. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Panhandle State University Alumni Association, Texas County Retired Teachers Association and IOOF Lodge. He married Erma O'Neal in 1932 at Felt. She died in 1980. Survivors include three sons, Charles Ikard of Kingfisher, Okla., Robert Ikard of Littleton, Colo., and Dr. Tom Ikard of Stillwater, Okla.; a daughter, Karen Ferguson of Creede, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Martinez was born in Lubbock and moved to Clovis in 1938. In 1943 he joined the Army. In 1986 he retired after 15 years of service at the commissary at Cannon Air Force Base. He married Ramona Callegos in 1944 at Clovis.
