Mrs. Buckner was born in Stanford and grew up in Aspermont. She moved to Dalhart in 1972 where she was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. She moved to Amarillo in 1997. She married Tommy Buckner in 1965 at Aspermont. He died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Mike Buckner of Austin; a daughter, Bonnie Buckner of Los Angeles; her father, H.G. Flowers of Aspermont; a brother, Bill Flowers of Aspermont; and two grandchildren. He married Sally Orozco in 1966 at Muleshoe. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc., of Clarendon. Mrs. Roberts was born in Atoka, Okla., and had been a resident of Donley County most of her life. She had worked with her husband, a Gulf Oil consignee, in the family business for 30 years until his retirement in 1978. Later, Mrs. Roberts was a clerk in the clothing business, worked for Clarendon College and for the Donley County Senior Citizens Association. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 413 in Hedley and the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon. She married James Thomas "Jake" Roberts in 1941 at Clarendon. He died in 1997. Survivors include a son, Jim Roberts of Hedley; three sisters, Eva Marie Strickland Phipps of Davis, Okla., Willie Mae Warren of Ryan, Okla., and Barbara Sue Davis of Ardmore, Okla.; and three grandchildren. Luera, 77, of Olton, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton with the Rev. Martin Pine of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Lamesa officiating. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Olton. Mr. Luera was born and raised in Melvin where he attended schools. During World War II, he served as a paratrooper with the Army 82nd Air Borne Division. A prisoner of war in Germany, he received the victory medal, occupation medal and POW medal. After the war, he returned to Melvin. In 1946, Mr. Luera moved to Olton where he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Peter's Catholic Church. He married Mary Gamboa in 1949 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Janie Luera, Stella Luera and Jessie Luera, all of Olton, and Elva Kason of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons, Joe Luis Luera, Ruben Luera and Roy Luera, all of San Antonio; a brother, Apolonio of Olton; six sisters, Maria Cordero and Sally Pedroza, both of Olton, Maria Valles and Rosa Jaques, both of San Angelo, and Delia Balderamos and Josephine Gonzales, both of Fort Worth; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He married Donita Jordon in 1960 at Muleshoe. He was preceded in death by a son, Lewie Don Martin, in 1983. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery by Lamb Funeral Home of McLean. Mr. Brown was born in Chillicothe and lived in the McLean area for more than 60 years. He retired as production superintendent from Royal Oil and Gas Co. He served as a volunteer fireman, ambulance driver and city councilman. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Olene Robinson in 1935 at Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Hatfield. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mary Donald of Amarillo, Laura Morris of McLean, Martha Back of Gretna, La., and Brenda Parker of Canyon; a granddaughter, Jeanette Gammon; two brothers, J.B. Mrs. Thomas was born in Burlington Junction, Mo. In 1961, She moved from Iowa to Amarillo where she was employed by Gattis Shoes, Kline's and Coca-Cola. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. In 1939, she married Wilbur Branan who preceded her in death. Her second marriage was to Paul Thomas in 1963 at Amarillo. He died in 1998. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Branan in 1959 and Bucky Thomas in 1964. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Thomas of Amarillo; three sons, Jim Branan of Villisca, Iowa, Dennis B. Thomas of Canyon and James R. Thomas of Cocoa, Fla.; a brother, Ivor Van Ausdall of Maryville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Park was born in Jacksonville. In 1929, he received his bachelor's degree in music from Trinity University. He received his master's degree in history and his law degree from Cumberland University. Prior to World War II, Mr. Park taught music in Perryton. During World War II, he worked for Brown Shipyard in Houston. After the war, he became an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Parks lived in El Paso for 27 years until moving to Amarillo in 1999. He was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church. He married Clara Cammack in 1935 at Perryton. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wilbur G. Park Jr. of Gruver and Col. David M. Park of the Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haynes was born in Fitchburg, Mass. During World War II, she was stationed at Bruns Army Hospital in Santa Fe, N.M., as a medical technician with the 72nd WAC Hospital Co. She married Glenn Haynes in 1946. He died in 1987. Mrs. Haynes worked at the West Texas State College book store. After retirement, she volunteered at the Veterans Medical Center in Amarillo. She and her husband were among the founders of the Panhandle Plains American Ex-POW Organization. Survivors include a son, John A. Haynes of San Diego; a brother, Arthur J. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of Christ with Frank Lynch and Derek Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Kenton Cemetery at Kenton by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Henley was born and raised in Kenton where she attended school. She worked at the Dixon Ranch. She won ribbons at the Cimarron County Fair. She had been a member of New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church and also was a member of the Women's Auxiliary at the church. She was a past member of the Blue Belles Auxiliary. She married Luther Hamm in 1943. He preceded her in death. She married Lewis Henley in 1950 at Clayton, N.M. Mr. Henley also preceded her in death. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, Okla. Mr. Barber was born in Vernon and grew up in Sudan where he attended schools. He served in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He was a cross-country trucker for Transcon of Oklahoma City. Mr. Barber was a member of the Oklahoma Capital Patrol, retiring in 1996. He attended Oscar Rose Junior College. Mr. Barber was the chief executive officer of the Lucky B Corp. He moved to Ponca City in 1996. Mr. Maberry was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School, then attended West Texas State Teachers College and the University of Iowa, majoring in mechanical engineering. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a certified airplane mechanic. He farmed and ranched in Hughes and Hyde counties and later built and remodeled homes. He was a member of the American Legion and was a 4-H leader and a school board member. He also volunteered at the hospital and for the Latchkey program in Pierre. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; three sons, Kenton Maberry of Rapid City and Wayne Maberry and Buell Maberry, both of Pierre; a daughter, Sayra Jayne Tisland of Pierre; a sister, Margery Ann Gilmor of Waterloo, Iowa; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Paulsen was born in Anthony, Kan., and had lived in Midland since 1982. She was a member the Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Paulsen, in 1982. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 22, 2000 New Mexico Billye Jean Mundell Dwire CLOVIS, N.M. - Billye Jean Mundell Dwire, 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000. Graveside services will be Monday in Forrest Hills Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Cremation and local arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Dwire was born in Memphis, Tenn. She was employed as dormitory administrator for the St. Louis, AT&SF Railroads. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and AMVET and was a Lutheran. Her first marriage was to Earl Mundell who preceded her in death in 1989. Her second marriage was to Ken Dwire who died in 1997. Survivors include a son, Jim O. Lansford of Memphis; two daughters, Luckye Colbertson of Corinth, Miss., and Amber Miller of Clovis; a brother, David Poole; three sisters, Mossie Poole and Esther Ridrick, both of Memphis and Ethyl Trachonivich of Orlando, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 22, 2000 Michael Fitzharris CLOVIS, N.M. - Michael Fitzharris, 53, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in The Chapel with Pete Jaramillo officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Fitzharris was born in Renton, Wash., and moved to Clovis in 1978. He was a painter with Preferred Painters and was of the Christian faith. He married Erlinda Gallegos in 1979 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Angela Wideman of Panama City, Fla., and Jessica Fitzharris of Clovis; his mother and stepfather, Bernice "Bonnie" and Nick Carter of Brinnon, Wash.; his father, Thomas Fitzharris of Sandy Valley, Nev.; a brother, Ricky Carter of Brinnon; and a grandchild. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 22, 2000 Amy Grace Byrd CLOVIS, N.M. - Amy Grace Byrd, 81, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Melrose Cemetery with Cecil Bunch officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Byrd was born in Melrose where she graduated from high school. She was a teller and cashier from 1946 until 1957 at Citizens Bank and from 1957 until 1980 at Sunwest Bank of Albuquerque. She retired and moved to Rifle, Colo., in 1995. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Ronald L. Byrd of Rifle; four brothers, Austin Brocks of Albuquerque, Paul Brooks of Clarkston, Wash., Bob Brooks of Clovis and Jim Brooks of Breckenridge, Texas; a sister, Pauline Robberson of Moriarty; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
