Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Charles Meyer of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Meier was born in Kingfisher County, Okla. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He moved to Amarillo in 1952. He was a carpenter and longtime member and trustee of Carpenters Local No. 665. He provided his carpentry skills to area churches, including Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, where he was a member. He married Neva Little in 1947 at Kingfisher, Okla. She died in 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Elizabeth Meier of Austin; a son, James Leonard Meier of Metuchen, N.J.; and a brother, Ted Meier of Kingfisher. The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79107. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 23, 2000 Verna Lee Bills Hitt Verna Lee Bills Hitt, 83, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker, associate pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery at Weatherford. Mrs. Hitt was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a homemaker. She lived in Weatherford and Fort Worth before returning to Amarillo in 1982. She attended First Baptist Church in her youth and later became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Ruth Sunday school class. She worked on the church newspaper and volunteered at High Plains Baptist Hospital information desk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Olin Hitt. Survivors include a brother, J.E. Bills of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church television ministry, 1300 S. Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or the American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Mrs. McCoy was born in Clarksville and had lived in Amarillo the past 68 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen McCoy, in 1982; and by a daughter, Virginia Frazier, in 1985. Survivors include two granddaughters, Linda Dunn of the home and Brenda Frazier of Amarillo; five grandsons, Lawrence Frazier, Richard Larry Frazier, Donald Frazier and Stevie Frazier, all of Amarillo and Ricky Frazier of Arlington; and special friends, the John Maynard family. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 23, 2000 New Mexico Tressa Joyce Hubbard CLOVIS, N.M. - Tressa Joyce Hubbard, 37, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in Roosevelt County. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in True Victory Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Jonathan Brock officiating. Cremation has take place. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home Inc. Ms. Hubbard was born in Littlefield, Texas. She had lived in Clovis since 1992 and was a factory worker. Survivors include a son, Dontea Robinson of Clovis; a daughter, Queva Hubbard of Albuquerque; her mother, Dorothy Lewis, and stepfather, Mentie Lewis, both of Clovis; two brothers, Mentie Lewis Jr. of Clovis and Christopher Lewis of Hereford, Texas; and three sisters, Jackie Hubbard and Sharon Lewis, both of Clovis and Mimi Lewis of Las Vegas, Nev. and was a longtime resident of Clovis. He was a cook in the civil service for 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter, Corine Zamora of Dimmitt, Texas; and three sisters, Florence Chavez of Clovis and Lupe Zamora and Julina Zamora, both of Amarillo. Richard Gomez of Morton officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Homes of Morton. Mr. Belez was born in Mathis. He moved to Enochs in 1968 from Maple, where he was a farm employee of Dale Nichols for 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochs and the La Familia Villarreal musical group. He married Connie Martinez in 1967 at Morton. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Israel Belez and Samuel Belez, both of Brownwood and Albert Belez of Lubbock; a daughter, Linda George of Morton; his father, Alberto Belez of Dayton; nine sisters, Mary Lou, Hope, Esther, Estella, Blasa, Gloria, Carmen, Margarita and Natalia; four brothers, Fred, Johnny, Victor and Arturo; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 23, 2000 Area Eugene Massengale BORGER - Eugene Massengale, 65, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Highland Park Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Massengale was born in Lynn County and lived in Borger 47 years. During the Korean War he served in the Navy. He was an industrial spray painter and a Baptist. He married Phyllis Barnett in 1968 at Borger. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Massengale and Robert Massengale, both of Borger, and Bill Ackors of Amarillo; three daughters, Lynn Lanham of Panhandle, Teena Sanchery of Ogden, Utah, and Kimberly Ivy of Borger; a brother, A.J. Massengale of Borger; two sisters, Juanita Ketner of Mesquite and Anita Massengale of Alabama; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
