Daniel Everett M. Daniel, 76, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery East with the Rev. Robert Field of Southeast Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Daniel was born in Tahlequah, Okla. He entered the Army in 1941 and served until 1944, when he joined the Army Air Corps. He moved to Amarillo in 1970 from Dumas. In 1988, he retired from the Crouse Hinds Division of Cooper Industries. He married Marie Sykes in 1948 at Sacramento, Calif. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Danny Daniel and Randy Daniel, both of Amarillo; five daughters, Rosamary Burch, Cherrie Drerup, Sylvia Turner and Carol Wineberg, all of Amarillo, and Phyllis Deccio of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Anne Vermillion of Dewey, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System hospice. She was employed as a sales clerk for Toot'n Totum convenience stores and Wal-Mart. Survivors include a son, Willard Peters Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Trina Peters of Canyon; three brothers, Robert E. Russell of Baton Rouge, La., and Johnny Russell and Thomas E. Gordon, 80, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Cecil Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mrs. Gordon was born in Clovis. She lived in Clovis all her life except for a short time when she was in California. She worked as a meat wrapper until her retirement in 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church. She married Arlie Gordon in 1934. He died in 1997. She also was preceded in death by two infant sons. Survivors include three sons, Larry Gordon of Bremerton, Wash., Garry Lynn Gordon of San Antonio and Jerry Don Gordon; four daughters, Betty Dixon and Debra Jean Moralez, both of Clovis, Lois Ann Sadler of Alvin, Texas, and Loretta Lancaster of Liberal, Kan.; a daughter, Ladonna Finney of Spur, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 24, 2000 Harry R. Wood ALAMOGORDO, N.M. - Harry R. Wood, 93, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dreamland Cemetery at Canyon, Texas, with Dr. Jim Garrett of Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo officiating. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Richardson and the Rev. Jack Moffatt officiating. Arrangements are by Sears Alamogordo Funeral Home. Mr. Wood was born in Mexia, Texas. He moved with his parents to the territory of New Mexico, where they homesteaded in Delphos. He grew up in Pampa, Texas, and graduated from high school there. He settled in Happy, Texas, where he and his first wife owned a family grocery store. During World War II, Mr. Wood served three years in the Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. When he returned from service, he bought a butane business in Tucumcari. He worked for Whites Auto from 1965 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Parkinson's Support Group and Alamo Senior Center, where he served on the Nutrition Board. In 1987, he married Geraldine Hasty. His first marriage was in 1927 to Alice King who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alice Rae. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brad Hasty of Cedar City, Utah, and Charles Hasty of Burlington, Wash.; three sisters, Lorene McCarty and Rose Johns, both of Amarillo, and Joan Harris of Salina, Kan.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. McGuire was born in Wynnewood and attended school in Joy. In 1925, she moved to Sulphur where she operated Edna's Cafe. She then operated a bar in Davis. Mrs. McGuire was a foster grandmother. She was a Baptist. She married Rosevelt McGuire in 1929 at Sulphur. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, O.G. McGuire of Brookeland, Texas; a daughter, Rose Pruitt of Sulphur; three brothers, John Francies, Joe Francies and Bill Francies, all of Texas; four sisters, Mae Lee and Lucille Butler, both of California, and Zola Tate and Bernice Stice, both of Texas; six grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and seven great-greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Fowler was born in Sterling, Colo. After graduation from high school, she attended Colorado Women's College in Denver. She then taught music and physical education in Halfax, Colo. Before moving to Dalhart in 1952, she and her husband lived in Albuquerque, N.M., and Taos, N.M. She attended the First Presbyterian Church. She was a pianist for the Dalhart Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Taos. She married Basil "B.J." Fowler in 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant son, Kurt. Survivors include two daughters, Barsha Carter of Lusby, Md., and Heide Bostwick of Hooker, Okla.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Before moving to White Deer about 20 years ago, she lived in Hedley, where she owned and operated the Conoco service station. She was a member of the White Deer Church of Christ and White Deer Senior Citizens. She married Charlie Johnson in 1931 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Milton of White Deer; a son, Perry "Bud" Johnson of Amarillo; a sister, Ollie Malone of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. McKie was born in Dalhart and served in the Navy. He later worked as the Veterans Affairs Officer and Dallam / Hartley counties Emergency Management Officer. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He was a Scottish Rite and York Rite Mason and a member of Rock Island Masonic Lodge and Khiva Shrine Temple in Amarillo. He married Bonnie Rose in 1950. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jay McKie of Las Cruces, N.M., and Hugh McKie of Houston; a daughter, Taysha Slaughter of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCoy was born in Childress where she had worked as a nurse's aide and private sitter for both Childress General and Childress County hospitals. She was a homemaker and member of King Memorial United Methodist Church. When that church closed, she transferred to First United Methodist Church. She married Van McCoy in 1932 at Hollis, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965 and by a daughter, Doris McCoy, in 1939. Survivors include a son, Ronald McCoy of Childress; a daughter, Carolyn Prescott of Childress; a sister, Irene Walkup of Childress; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Weatherred was born in Ralls. During World War II, he was a corporal in the Army, serving in the Aleutian Islands and New Guinea. He was a Christian. Mr. Weatherred retired as a lab technician for Continental Carbon. He then owned and operated Rafter C. Rentals. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge. Mrs. Gonzales was born in Victoria. She moved to Plainview in 1959 where she was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1995, she moved to Grand Prairie. She married Atanacio Gonzales in 1940 at Cuero. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972 and by a daughter, Andrea G. Garcia, in January .
