Burial will be later in California. Mrs. Green was born in Bagio City, Philippines and attended Seaside High School in Monterey, Calif. She was a cashier at Wal-Mart and a Catholic. She married Michael Green in 1990 at Monterey. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Candice Green of Amarillo; her mother, Maria Cosur of Monterey; a sister, Bernadette Flores of Killeen; and a grandmother, Juanita Alejo of Monterey. Kling, 75, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000. Services will be private. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Kling was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, and lived in Amarillo 45 years. During World War II and the Korean War he served in the Army. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1960. He married Joan Gifford in 1947. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Doug Kling of Groom and Marshall Kling of Dallas; two daughters, Kaiti Classen of San Antonio and Kathy Andrews of Houston; and three grandchildren. Mr. Cantu coached softball and was an umpire. He also played on softball teams. He married Irma Trevino in 1976 at Hereford and in 1995 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Anjanette T. Cantu, Clara A. Cantu and Rebecca Guillian, all of Amarillo; two sons, Albert T. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 25, 2000 Elsewhere Jim Dick Miller CORONADO, Calif. - Jim Dick Miller, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000. Services will be at noon Wednesday, Feb. 2 in Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will full military honors will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego. Arrangements are by Pinkham-Mitchell Mortuary in Imperial Beach. Jim Dick Miller, a retired captain in the Navy, was born in Van Buren, Ark. He moved with his family to Sapulpa, Okla., and then to Borger, Texas, and graduated from Borger High School in 1934. He attended Amarillo Junior College before entering the U.S. Naval Academy in 1935. He graduated from the Academy in 1939 and was deployed to the USS Arizona, where he was serving when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He rescued a men from his burning ship and received the Navy Cross for valor during the attack. He conducted wartime patrols in the Pacific on the USS Spearfish. His other wartime honors include the Silver Star and Bronze Star, and he earned the Legion of Merit and the Gold Star during his 30-year career. Mr. Miller served in the 1946 Arctic expedition and was a submarine commander, including service in Key West, Fla., during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served on the staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and commanded the Gulf Sub-Area, Military Sea Transportation Service in New Orleans. He was the highest-ranking survivor of the Arizona. Mr. Miller earned his master's degree in math from North Caroline State University and taught at colleges in the San Diego area. He was active in community affairs in Coronado, was a member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church and was active with veterans' organizations, including the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II. He married Mary Jane Sullivan in 1943 at Los Angeles. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, William Miller of Wilmington, Del., and James Miller of Manhattan Beach; three sisters, Catherine Spiller and Myra Fowler, both of Amarillo, and Mabel Wade of Lynchburg, Va.; three brothers, Oth Miller and Dee Miller, both of Amarillo, and G. William Miller of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren. She was a licensed vocational nurse at Plainview Hospital and Nichols Hospital for a number of years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, a charter member of St. John's Methodist Church and a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She married Robert N. Hollister in 1923 at Mangum, Okla. He died in 1952. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Quitaque with the Rev. Lance Cypert, pastor, Dr. Robert J. Beck, the Rev. Jesse Little and the Rev. Frank Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Quitaque. Mr. Stark was born in Quitaque where he was a lifelong resident. During World War II he served in the Navy. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Stark was chairman of the board of First National Bank in Quitaque, on the board of directors of the Citizens National Bank of Crosbyton and was on the board of Texas Bankers Association Retirement System. He published the "Comings-Goings-Doings," a long-running banking newsletter. Mr. Stark was a former trustee for Wayland Baptist University, president of Caprock Partners, past president of the Quitaque Chamber of Commerce and the Quitaque Lions Club and a member of the Quitaque Masonic Lodge. He married Mary Hartgraves in 1949 at Sweetwater. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sherry Braden of Nacogdoches; two sons, Scotty Stark and Randy Stark, both of Quitaque; a sister, Patsy Herrington of Quitaque; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In 1937 he moved to Olton where he farmed until 1951. He was part-owner and manager of Smith & Struve Dry Goods in Olton until 1962. Mr. Smith was the Olton Fire Department chief for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Elsie Struve in 1936 at Hale Center. She died in 1989.
