Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lincoln Street Baptist Church with Rusty Hancock, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Loften was born in Dalhart. After serving with the Army during World War II, he returned to Dalhart and worked for Bell Telephone before retiring from the Texas Department of Public Transportation in 1990. He was a member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He married Carolyn Bonham in 1962 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vickie Ogden of Longview and Terrie Solis of Gruver; three stepsons, James Lee Clanton and Thomas Edward Clanton, both of Amarillo, and Alvis Wilson Clanton of Channing; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice of Dumas. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Cemetery. Dominic was born in Seminole. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Ricardo M. Alvidrez and Mark X. Amarillo Daily News June 26, 2000 F.M. Smith Jr. SUDAN - F.M. "Smitty" Smith Jr., 84, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Muleshoe. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Sudan with the Rev. Kerry Hurst of Lubbock and the Rev. Lyndal Fletcher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born in Wellsville, Kan., and moved to Sudan in 1945 from Parsons, Kan. A graduate of Baker University at Baldwin, Kan., he was inducted into the Baker University Football Hall of Fame in 1988. After coaching football in Lyndon, Kan., he was athletic director of the Sudan schools from 1945 until 1959. A farmer in the Sudan area, he served as president of the board of the Sudan Farmers Coop Gin Association and later coached all sports at the school in Amherst. In the late 1970s, he returned to Sudan to coach until his retirement. In Sudan, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First United Methodist Church, where he taught the adult Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Sudan city council. He married Margaret Dean in 1938 at Sudan. She died in 1996. Survivors include three sons, Robert Dean Smith and Steven Dale Smith, both of Sudan, and Michael David Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church at Mason with Pastor Jim McClain officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Ochiltree Cemetery at Perryton. Arrangements are by Mason Funeral Home in Mason and Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton. Mrs. Sims was born in Gray, Okla. She was a member of the Methodist church in Mason and Perryton. Her husband, James C. "Snitz" Sims, preceded her in death. Burial will follow in the Garden of Beatitudes at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger. Mr. Brooks was born in Pauls Valley, Okla., and moved from Dumas to Fritch in 1978. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fritch. In 1985, he retired as a butcher. He married Annette Gibbs in 1960 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Ray Brooks of Atlanta; three daughters, Rhonda Moore of Kildare, Paula Nelson of Dumas, and Deborah Ruppanner of Dalhart; five sisters, Kay York of Oxnard, Calif., Ophelia Darden of Athens, Hattie Reavis of Porterville, Calif., Vera Simpson of Marysville, Calif., and Dorothy Collins of La Feria; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Wells BORGER - Ralph H. Wells, 85, died Saturday, June 24, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains with the Rev. Dale Jones, pastor of First Christian Church in Fritch, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa. Mr. Wells was born in Sedan, Kan., and had lived in Borger for 62 years. A ham radio operator, he was an independent major appliance repairman and retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of the E.O.C., and a charter member of First Christian Church in Fritch, where he was an elder. His wife, Dorothy M. Wells, died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Galen Wells of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Loletta Ashley of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary Sue Phillips of Fritch; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church in Kress with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church in Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Pittman was born in Gray, Okla., and graduated from Perryton High School at Perryton. After attending Panhandle A&M University and graduating from Texas Tech University, he lived in Tarzan and Slaton before moving to Kress. In Kress, he was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and treasurer. He was on the board of directors at Kress National Bank and was active in 4-H. He served with the Navy during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview. He married Fannie Ada Lucy in 1941. His sons, Vigil Pittman and Larry Pittman, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Erliss Pittman of Spearman, Wayman Pittman of Washington, and Leonard Pittman of Arkansas; a sister, Ethel Seago of Stillwater, Okla.; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Holladay was born in Floydada, where she attended schools. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. In 1996, she moved to Belton from Temple. She married Burlson Holladay in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1980. Survivors include two sons, Bud Holladay of Lubbock and Leonard Holladay of Temple; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave., with the Rev. Jackie Findley of Christian Lighthouse Center officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Tipton was born in Madison County and traveled by covered wagon to Sayre, Okla., in 1914. She moved to Amarillo in 1953. She worked as a private duty nurse. She was a member of Comanche Trail Christian Church. She married James P. Tipton in 1925 at Sayre. He died in 1971. Her son, Conley Tipton, died in 1994. Two daughters, Loretta Robinson and Winell Thomas, died in 1998. Survivors include five daughters, Odelia Henslee of Cherryvale, Kan., Rosemary Britt of Salem, Ore., Marceline Schwalm of Galveston, and Nevada Smith and Ceta Miller, both of Amarillo; a son, James Tipton of Amarillo; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 43 great-great-grandchildren. Ninth Ave. Mrs. Montgomery was born in Plainview and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a Christian. She married Butch Montgomery in 1955 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Nicholes of Amarillo; two sons, Wylie Montgomery of Amarillo and Steve Aycock of Kansas City, Kan.; her mother, Lillian Barrett of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4609 Cherokee Trail and suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice. Amarillo Daily News June 26, 2000 Danny Ector Holman Danny Ector Holman, 45, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, June 23, 2000, in Page, Ariz. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church at Page. Burial will follow in Page Cemetery at Page by MosdellMortuary of Kanab, Utah. Mr. Holman was born in Amarillo and was pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Page. He began ministering in 1975 in West Texas and later operated a Christian school in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. A founding member of the Page Evangelical Association, he was part of the Page Hospital chaplaincy. He married Jacqueline Denise Duerksen in 1976 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Amanda Weiss of Page and April Riddle of Kanab; a son, D.J. Holman of Page; his parents, Roger and Deloris Holman of Amarillo; grandmother, Hazel Holland of Amarillo; a grandchild; and two foster children. Viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. MST until service time Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials, in lieu of flowers, be to the church.
