Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Niles was born in Shawnee, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1941 from Dalhart. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Southeast Baptist Church since 1941. She married John Samuel Allen in 1927 at McLean. He died in 1960. She married Floyd Niles in 1974 at Amarillo. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence "Ted" Allen, in 1996. Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Akin, Sammie Kruse and Deolvia "Dee" Rampy, all of Amarillo, and Nancy Morris of Howardwick; a son, Lonnie Allen of Hurst; two sisters, Faye Lynn of Irving and Doris Harrison of Wichita Falls; a brother, Bill Lawrence of Amarillo; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Allen Norris, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Rev. Travis LaDuke, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Reynolds was born in Clarendon and moved to Amarillo in 1942. He served with the National Guard. In 1995, Mr. Reynolds retired from the transportation department at Pantex. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Amarillo Bird Dog Club and NSTRA. He married Ellen Arteberry in 1956 at Amarillo. She died in 1998. Survivors include three sons, David Lee Reynolds of Shamrock, Steve Terrell Reynolds of Panhandle and Tommy Dean Reynolds of Amarillo; a daughter, Paula McKee of Amarillo; a brother, Bill Reynolds of San Antonio; a sister, Sue Ball of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Interstate 40. Mr. Lehrmann was born in Washington County. He attended Frank Phillip College at Borger and West Texas State University at Canyon. He served with the Army during the Korean War and returned to Texas to work with a seismograph crew. In 1963, he moved to Amarillo from Borger, where he worked for Phillips Petroleum. He retired as an engineering technician after 34 years with Pantex. He married Sally Bruce in 1956 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Renee Shirley of Amarillo; a son, Bruce Lehrmann of Amarillo; a sister, Anita Hanz of San Marcos; and four grandchildren. She was a member of Polk Street Methodist Church, PEO, American Federation of Women and the Pilot Club. For many years, she was with the Amarillo Theatre costume department. She retired from Pioneer Natural Gas. Her husband, Clarence Wine, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Darliene Schwalen of San Antonio; a son, Jamie Wine of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe March 26, 2000 Martha Evelyn Rodgers Thomas Dr. Martha Evelyn Rodgers Thomas, 77, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in San Angelo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Thomas was born in Yeso, N.M., and moved to Amarillo in 1924. A lifetime educator, she retired in 1987 as director of teacher certification for the Texas Education Agency. She was graduated from Amarillo High School, Texas Women's University, University of Denver, and received her doctorate in English from the University of Texas. In 1959, she received a Fulbright scholarship to teach in Australia and in 1974, was named to the Who's Who of American Women. In 1988, she was named Outstanding Contributor to Texas Education by the Texas State Council of Teachers of English. She taught at Perryton Junior High School, Lamar University, and Texas A&M University at Laredo. Survivors include a son, Gary Donald Thomas of New Castle, Del.; a sister, Jan Geurin of La Grange; and a brother, Dr. L.R. Rodgers of Houston. Mr. Poole was born in Dallas and lived in McKinney 19 years before moving to Plainview in June. He attended the University of Corpus Christi Baptist College, where he played basketball. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked 13 years as an accounting manager for State Farm Insurance Co. and was vice president of Southwestern States Bankcard Association for 13 years. He was a Baptist. Mr. Poole married Patricia Major in 1966 at Durant, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald Wayne Poole of Austin and Anthony Joseph Poole of Carlyle, Ill.; two daughters, Carolyn Hope Bertelson of Austin and Kelli Marie Wilson of Plainview; a sister, Margaret Allen of De Soto; and six grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was born in Burkburnett and raised in Tulia, where he attended schools. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. A self-employed diesel mechanic, he was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Maebelle Kay Guinn in 1946 at Fort Smith, Ark. She died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Goss of Tulia; three sisters, Ruby Crocker of Pampa, Ruth Combs of Fircrest, Wash., and Billie Ward of Hearst; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Mr. Wofford was born in Chillicothe and lived and farmed in Hardeman and Wilbarger counties. He was a member of the National Old Time Ropers Association and First Baptist Church. He married Mary Jane Kelly in 1929 at Quanah. She died in 1994. He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Martha Lou Baker in 1972 and Lois Earlane Wofford in October. He married Frances Blackwell in 1977 at Plainview. Mrs. Carr was born in Motley County, attended schools in Dumont and graduated from high school in Childress in 1929. Before graduating from nursing school at Lubbock Sanitarium, she attended McMurray College in Abilene. In 1937, she moved from Lubbock to Petersburg. She was a school nurse for 35 years for the Floydada School System until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Carr's Chapel. She married Wesley William Carr in 1937 at Lubbock. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe March 26, 2000 Pauline Benefield SILVERTON - Pauline Benefield, 98, died Saturday, March 25, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Muleshoe Memorial Park at Muleshoe, with Ted Kingrey officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mrs. Benefield was born in Pine Forrest and graduated from high school in Sulphur Springs in 1918. A Texas Tech University graduate, she retired from teaching in 1966. In 1969, she moved from Muleshoe to Silverton, where she was a member of First Methodist Church. She married S.L. Benefield in 1924. He died in 1968. Her son, Jerry Benefield, died in 1968. Her daughter, Gayle Robertson, died in 1990. Survivors include three grandchildren, Jack Robertson and Corey Robertson, both of Floydada, and Stacy Bain of Plainview; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 720, Silverton, TX 79257; or a favorite charity. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Travis Baptist Church with the Rev. John McQueen officiating and the Rev. Phillip Shelton and Dr. O.K. Bowen assisting. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. McQueen moved from his parent's home to the Robinson Development Center in 1987. In 1998, he moved to the Memphis Convalescent Center. Survivors include his mother, Cle McQueen of Memphis; two brothers, Winfred McQueen of Lone Oak and the Rev. John McQueen of Andrews; four sisters, Venita McQueen of Pampa, and Billie Sampley, Shirley Ward, and Vivian Martin, all of Memphis; and his grandmother.
