Crownover Frank H. Crownover, 78, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in University Church of Christ at Canyon with David Lough, of University Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Crownover was born in Claude and moved to Amarillo in 1987. He was a retired farmer and a member of the University Church of Christ in Canyon. Mr. Crownover married Bess Eidson in 1944 at Bryan. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ann Green of Hartley; two sons, Bobby Crownover of Amarillo and Charles Crownover of Briscoe; three sisters, Jenola Maple of Lubbock, Roberta Ford and Martha Ann Champeau, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Floyd Crownover of Claude and Lloyd Crownover of Stratford; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. L.M. Phillips, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, and the Rev. Donnie Howell, officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park. Mrs. Watts was born in Taylor County. She married Jess Lee Watts in 1935 at Big Spring. In 1935, they moved from Hamby to Littlefield and farmed in the Fieldton area until retiring in 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Fieldton Baptist Church and later, the Parkview Baptist Church of Littlefield. Survivors include four sons, Gene Watts of Lubbock, Mike Watts and Doug Watts, both of Littlefield and Jerry Watts of Dimmitt; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Lamb Healthcare Center. Amarillo Daily News, May 26, 2000 Sherman Baird Jr. DODGE CITY, Kan. - Sherman Baird Jr., 75, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Garden City. Memorial services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Swaim Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Crockett, pastor, and Harley Foulks, officiating. Mr. Baird was born and grew up in Dodge City. He graduated from Dodge City Senior High School. During World War II, he served in the Navy. In 1963, he moved to Garden City and began working as grain manager for Cooperative Exchange, retiring in 1987. Mr. Baird was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Canyon, Texas, and the St. James Lutheran Church of Garden City. He also was a member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and the Rotary Club, all of Garden City. He married Carola Spaniol in 1946 at Dodge City. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Leslie Wagner of Holcomb, Kan. and Monte Wise of Canyon; a sister, Velda Hughes of Dodge City; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Cummings was a graduate of Pampa High School at Pampa, Texas. He served in the Navy for 30 years and as financial counselor for the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. She was dietitian for Hardeman Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Assembly of God. She married Leo Wade Sellers in 1942 at Altus. He died in 1990. She was preceded in death by a son, Bonnon Leo Sellers; and by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Sellers. Survivors include three sons, Mike Sellers of Quanah, Jimmy Sellers of Olustee, Okla., and Leon Sellers of Vernon; two brothers, Marvin Carmichael and Bill Carmichael; two sisters, Etta Faye Lewis and Lorene Stidd; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren. Arellano, 79, formerly of White Deer, died Monday, May 22, 2000, in Houston. Vigil services will be at 6 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel at Pampa with the Rev. John Valdez, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Pampa, officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at White Deer by Monsignor James Gurzynski of Amarillo and Monsignor Kevin Hand of Sacred Heart. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at White Deer. Mr. Arellano grew up in Tucumcari, N.M. During World War II, he served in the Army. He moved to White Deer in 1948. He worked for Santa Fe Railway and was a trackman-truck driver. He was living in Houston at the time of his death. He married Josephine Ortiz in 1954 at Newkirk, N.M. She died in 1997. Survivors include four children, Helen Arellano, Margaret Stephens, Joseph P. Arellano and Phillipa Mendoza; a sister, Albenia Sandoval; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Follett United Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd Thiessen and the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck, Okla. Mr. Borth was born in Follett. He graduated from Follett High School in 1943. He served in the military during the Korean War. He was a member of United Methodist Church. Mr. Borth married Erna Marie Massie in 1952 at Nash, Okla., and they farmed southwest of Follett. She died in 1983. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Tony Craig. He married Kathryn Meek in 1985 and they continued to farm until 1991, when they moved to Amarillo. They spent their winters in Brownsville. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Felicia Borth of Amarillo and Tisha Moore of Gruver; two stepsons, Jerry Meek of Big Sandy and Dennis Meek of Dallas; his stepmother, Beata Borth of Follett; a sister, Frieda Weidner of Follett; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Wirsdorfer, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Wells was born in Blanket and had been a longtime Quanah resident. She and her husband owned and operated T&O Grocery Store until retiring in 1970. They also ranched. She was a member of First Christian Church. She married Hyson G. Wells in 1937 at Quanah. He died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Garland Welborn of Flower Mound; and three grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Silverton. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church of Silverton by the Rev. Edd Graff. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery at Quitaque. Mrs. Valdez was born in San Angelo. She was a past member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, where she had served as a member of the altar society. She moved to Plainview, where she became a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and had served as communion minister. She was an active volunteer and a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. She married Jesse Valdez in 1934 in San Angelo. He died in 1963. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Ramirez. Survivors include four sons, Joe Valdez of Quitaque, Ernest Valdez of Shallowater, Charlie Valdez of Minnesota and Albert Valdez of Houston; three daughters, Delia Cabello of Carrollton, Mary Lena Adame of Plainview and Adelmira "Willie" Ramirez of Silverton; a brother, John Rodriguez of San Angelo; a sister, Mary Navarro of San Angelo; 38 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Blanton in 1937. Survivors include a son, Jerry Blanton; a daughter, Jan Goodwin; a sister, Madge Satterwhite of Ranger; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
