Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Raines officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Carter was born in Amarillo, the granddaughter of the first settlers in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School and attended the University of New Mexico, where she was an Alpha Chi Omega. The former Miss Albuquerque was a longtime resident of Amarillo and a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Alumni Association in Amarillo. She was a homemaker, a former swimming champion and a member of "The Quilters." She married Jimmy Carter in 1950 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cheri Rubenstein of San Antonio; a son, Kit Carter of Amarillo; a brother, C.R. Mock of Galveston; and three grandchildren. Mr. Dobbins was born in DeKalb. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of Mescalero Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Debora Shafer of Amarillo; two sons, Matt A. Dobbins of Amarillo and Mark Dobbins of Ogden, Utah; a brother, Wilson Dobbins of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Mescalero Baptist Church. Amarillo News, Dec. 27, 2000 Doris Aylene Drake Doris Aylene Ballard Drake, 84, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum with Brent Ashby officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Drake was born in Guthrie and lived with her family many places throughout the Panhandle of Texas. She graduated from Pampa High School. She married Dwight Newell Drake in 1940 at Lubbock and they moved to Perryton, where they set up a business. Mrs. Drake was a genealogist and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Descendants of Austin's Old Three Hundred. Following the death of her husband in 1997 she moved to Amarillo. Survivors include a son, Dan Drake of Amarillo; a daughter, Karen Slagle of Amarillo; a sister, Earlene Hergert of Orland, Fla.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Mrs. Jo Scott officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mrs. Weber was born at Jonesville, Va. She moved with her family to Artesia in 1908 and to Clovis in 1912. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clovis. She married John W. Weber, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Chaplain Joe F. Weber of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Lynda L. Hutcheson of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 27, 2000 Oklahoma Randy Breeding TUTTLE, Okla. - Randy Breeding, 41, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in Oklahoma City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens by the Resthaven Funeral Home of Oklahoma City. Mr. Breeding was born and raised in Amarillo and graduated from Caprock High School in 1977. In 1990 he moved to Oklahoma City where he worked as a dock supervisor for Consolidated Freight Ways. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City. He married Ms. Micele McCoy in 1998 at Frisco, Texas. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Russell Breeding of Frisco; and a sister, Rhonda Byars of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to H. Amarillo News, Dec. 27, 2000 Area David Cecil Garvin EASTLAND - David Cecil Garvin, 82, formerly of Childress and Floydada, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church at Paducah. Burial will be in Cee Vee Cemetery at Cee Vee by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland and Siegler Funeral Home of Paducah. A farmer in the Cee Vee area, Mr. Garvin was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps during World War II and assisted with the installation of electrical wiring in Carlsbad Caverns. In Childress he worked at service stations and as a school bus driver and custodian. After moving to Floydada in 1952 he drove for the TNM&O Bus Company until his retirement. He lived in Weatherford and Pilot Point before moving to Eastland 21/2 years ago. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Marie Booth. Survivors include his wife, Louise Garvin of Granbury; two daughters, Phyllis Cross of Plainview and Pam White of Eastland; two sons, Phillip Garvin of Paducah and Paul Garvin of Phoenix; two brothers, Lloyd Garvin of Lubbock and Alonzo Garvin of Paris; two sisters, Margaret Sayles of Bridgeport and Melba Dee Barbee of Paris; five stepsons; four stepdaughters; nine grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Amma Lea Newman Lambert of Plainview. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Puckett was born in Coffeyville, Kan., and was a longtime resident of Pampa. During World War II he served in the Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a self-employed pipeline worker and retired after 45 years. He married Joyce Lemons in 1943 at Panhandle. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Puckett of Anchorage, Alaska; and a sister, Betty Neugent of Stinnett. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065. Amarillo News, Dec. 27, 2000 Edna Ira Covington BORGER - Edna Ira Covington, 96, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Fairlanes Baptist Church with the Rev. Wyatt Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Good Shepherd at Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Covington was born in Gassville, Ark., and had lived in Borger since 1926. She married Don Covington in 1926 at Gassville. He died in 1975. Survivors include two sons, J.D. Covington of Big Fork, Mont., and Bob Covington of Shamrock; three daughters, Donna Lee Scott of Fritch, Murrel Denbow of West Columbia and Fern Edwards of Dumas; a sister, Gladys Williams of Marietta, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Oney was born in Montgomery, Ala. She moved to Paducah in 1931. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Paducah. She married Obie Oney in 1947 at Paducah. He died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, LaDonna Mason of Paducah; a son, James Oney, Levelland; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-greatgrandchildren. He was a longtime resident of Hereford and attended schools there. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He married Tammy Gomez in 1986 at Hereford. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Gonzales and Harley Gonzales, both of the home; a daughter, Jacklyn Gonzales of the home; his parents, Tiburcio Gonzales and Santos Gonzales of Hereford; a brother, Gilbert Gonzales of Houston; two sisters, Lydia Leal of Fort Worth and Delia Gonzales of Austin; and grandparents, Herminia Pesqueda of Hereford and Jesusita Griego, both of Hereford. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Franks was born in Lela. He moved to Pampa in 1968. He was owner and operator of the Catalina Club. He moved to Port Aransas and purchased the Mustang R.V. Park, retiring in 1998 and returning to Pampa. Survivors include two sons, Charles Ray Franks of Lexington, Okla., and Phineas Dean Franks of Shamrock; a stepson, Leroy Thacker of Pampa; a stepdaughter, Kathy Murphy of Pampa; his mother, Lucille Franks of Shamrock; three brothers, Jimmy Franks of Shamrock, Paul Franks of Amarillo and Larry Franks of Canadian; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Amarillo News, Dec. 27, 2000 Galen Dwight Kraft FOLLETT - Galen Dwight Kraft, 52, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Las Cruces, N.M. Cremation and arrangements by Baca Funeral Home of Las Cruces. Mr. Kraft was born in Higgins and educated in Darrouzett. He was a millwright and traveled throughout the country. He was a Lutheran and a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 635 at Darrouzett. Survivors include his mother, Clara Kraft of Follett; and a brother, Merle Kraft of Lipscomb. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
