Burial was in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Anderson was born in Farmersville and had lived in Dumas since 1947. He served in the Navy during World War II. He retired in 1978 as a tool-room mechanic at Diamond Shamrock. He was a member of First Assembly of God. He married Irene Lindsey in 1936 at Colony, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty June Pledger of Lubbock; a son, Ray Anderson of Dumas; two brothers, Travis Anderson of Visalia, Calif., and Joe Anderson of Selma, Calif.; two sisters, Velma Freeze of Visalia and Goldie Mae McKay of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Thomas OLTON - W.E. "Bill" Thomas, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Northside Church of Christ with Bryan Patterson officiating. Burial was in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Olton. Mr. Thomas was born in Bowie and attended schools in Mobeetie. In 1945, he moved to Olton from San Diego. He was a farmer and an insurance and real estate agent. Mr. Thomas founded and operated Farmers Tax Service. He retired in 1990. He was a former mayor of Olton, serving for several terms in the 1960s. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ. He married Oveta Jordan in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1997. Survivors include a son, Lonnie Thomas of Houston, and a grandson, Marshall Thomas of Olton. Mrs. Mejia was born in Alamo and moved to Friona 28 years ago from Sanger, Calif. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. She recently moved to Augusta, Ga. She married Benito Mejia Sr. in 1947 at Donna. He died in 1966. Survivors include three daughters, Juanita "Janie" Flores of Friona, Maria E. Burial was in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Wilson was born in Denton where she graduated from Denton High School. She received a bachelor's degree in 1940 from Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman's University. She taught high school business in Crosby. She moved to Amarillo in 1942 and worked as a bookkeeper for Amarillo Zinc Smelter. In 1944, she became a legal secretary for the law firm of Sanders, Scott, Saunders, Brian and Humphrey. She served as the firm's office manager. In 1958, Mrs. Wilson became the second woman in Amarillo to receive Certified Professional Secretary status. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. She was a member of WilliamsThomason Sunday school class. She was a charter member of Amarillo Legal Secretaries Association. She married Joe A. Wilson in 1951 in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a sister, Irma Matney, and a brother, Weldon Taliaferro, both of Amarillo, three nieces and four nephews. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Feb. 27, 2000 Hazel Crouch Hazel Crouch, 76, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Jim Shelburne, pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church, and Karl Crouch officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Crouch was born in Ash Grove, Mo., and graduated from high school in Columbia, Mo. During World War II, she served with the Navy as a Wave. She was a homemaker, worked as a bookkeeper, and was active with the Camp Fire Girls. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer for the Amarillo Crisis Pregnancy Center. She was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Karleen Crouch Crandall of Ecuador, South America; two sons, Karl Crouch of Lancaster, Pa., and Dyrl "Bill" Crouch of San Antonio; a sister, Ann Anderson of Kansas City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Crisis Pregnancy Center. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Feb. 27, 2000 Martha Jane Becket Williams Martha Jane Becket Williams, 79, of Amarillo, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Jay Roberson, pastor of Liberty Church, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery. Mrs. Williams was born in Clarendon and received a master's degree from West Texas State University. She farmed in Claude and taught special education and art in Florida and in Houston and Beaumont. She was a member of Liberty Church in Amarillo. Her first husband, Harold Jackson Becket, died in 1993. She married Herman Williams in 1998 at Dallas. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Timothy Becket of Phoenix, and Michael Becket of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Judy J. Becket of Austin; and twin sister, Jean Rich of Amarillo. Before moving to Amarillo three years ago, he was a longtime resident of Haskell. He was a retired welder and a member of the Church of God at Haskell. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery at Jones County, N.C. Mr. Taylor was born in Kenly, N.C., and graduated from the Naval Apprentice School at Cherry Point, N.C., in 1954. He worked with jet engines for both the Navy and the Air Force. Before his retirement as a jet propulsion specialist for the Civil Service, he lived in Florida, England, New Mexico, Virginia and Washington. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Shelia Taylor; two sons, Halbert F. Taylor Jr., of Canberra, Australia, and Mark S. Taylor of Oxford, Ohio; two daughters, Leslie J. Dobson of Lakewood, Wash., and Carla B. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Feb. 27, 2000 Alice V. Medrow CLOVIS, N.M. - Alice V. Medrow, 88, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in South Park Cemetery at Roswell. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Medrow was born in Gallitzin, Pa. From 1974 until 1991, she lived in Roswell. Before returning to Clovis in 1996, she had lived in Portales and Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She married Herman Francis Medrow in 1936 at Cresson, Pa. He died in 1976. Survivors include a son, Ray Medrow of Clovis; a daughter, Virginia Landrum of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Freda Moyer of College Station, Pa., and Mae Murry of Gallitzin; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Feb. 27, 2000 Wendell Hendrickson CLOVIS, N.M. - Wendell "Bud" Hendrickson, 74, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Kingswood United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Scott officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Hendrickson was born in Midwest, Wyo., and graduated from Hobbs High School at Hobbs. He received a bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University and a master's from the University of Guam. From 1943 until 1945, he served with the Army Air Corp. He was in the field of education. He taught and coached in Jal, Cloudcroft, and in Guam. He was principal of Gallup High School and superintendent of personnel for Gallup and McKinley County Schools. He retired and moved to Clovis in 1986. Mr. Hendrickson served as president of the Curry County Association of Educators Retired and was state president of the New Mexico Association of Educators Retired. He was a member of The Golden Apple Team, the Noon Day Lions Club, and United Methodist Church. His great-grandchild, Britani Espinoza, preceded him in death. He married Margaret J. Walton in 1943 at Shawnee, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael L. Hendrickson of Allison, Texas; two daughters, Jan McKay of Clovis and Lesa DiPomazio of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a sister, Gwen Hallam of Kemp, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Feb. 27, 2000 Oklahoma Gordon L. Wallis LAKE EUFALA, Okla. - Gordon L. Wallis, 65, formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church at Warner with Rev. Don Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Warner Memorial Cemetery at Warner by Smith Funeral Home in Checotah. Mr. Wallis went to school in Oklahoma City. He served as a sergeant first class in the Army and served three years in Germany during the Korean War. He had worked as a construction contractor in Amarillo. In 1977, he moved to Lake Eufala, where he opened a bait and tackle shop. He married Anita Overbey in 1956. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Leslie Wallis of Amarillo and Mike Wallis of Warner; a daughter, Donna Wallis of Warner; his mother, Ella Mae Bray of Lake Eufala; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Finley officiating. Burial will be in Lightning Ridge Cemetery at Pontotoc County by Clagg Funeral Home of Sulphur. Mrs. Pattillo was born in Roff and attended school in Lightning Ridge. Before returning to Roff, she lived in Amarillo from 1938 until 1969. While living in Amarillo, she worked at St. Anthony's Hospital. She retired as a coffee shop manager and was a member of First Baptist Church in Roff, Daughters of the Nile, Order of Eastern Star, and the Trainsman Auxiliary. She married D.B Pattillo in 1947 at Ardmore. He died in 1962. Survivors include two sons, George Douglas Peters of Fitzhugh and Harold Eugene Peters of Houston; two sisters, Opal Samuelson and Garnette Cowan, both of Roff; eight grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Genesis Baptist Fellowship with the Rev. Roger Garrett officiating. Mrs. Matlock was born in Woodruff County, Ark. She married Ralph Hardin in 1926. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Padgett, in 1989. Survivors include two sons, William Hardin of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Marshall Hardin of Clarendon; two brothers, Jewel Stowe of Judsonia, Ark., and Willie Stowe of Searcy, Ark.; a sister, Elva Reichert of Montana; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., in Amarillo. Mr. Falloure was born in Sara Lake and had worked as a custodian in Lubbock. He served with the Marine Corps during World War II. Survivors include a sister, Frances Forehand of Normangee; a brother, Frank Falloure of Pasadena. The body will not be available for viewing.
