Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jud Wilhite of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Mr. Martin was born in Clarendon and was a longtime resident of Amarillo and the surrounding area. A Baptist and Army veteran, he owned and operated Martin's Auto and was a member of the Soft Bowl League at Western Bowl. He married Joann Parker in 1957 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ricky Martin and Gary Martin, both of Amarillo; a brother, Don Martin of Amarillo; a sister, Elaine Martin of Amarillo; and a grandchild. Amarillo Daily News Nov. 27, 2000 Robert E. Temple Robert E. Temple, 76, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Resthaven Cemetery at Lubbock with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Temple was born in Mount Vernon. During World War II, he served with the Navy as a Seabee. He attended North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington and farmed in Hale Center before moving to Amarillo from Dalhart. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator until retiring in 1995. He married Alice Hearn in 1947 at Clovis, N.M. His son, Bobby Temple, died in 1968. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tyla Morrison of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Campbell of Lubbock; a brother, Gains Temple of Lubbock; and a grandchild. Amarillo Daily News Nov. 27, 2000 Area R.A. Duncan POST - R.A. "Shorty" Duncan, 83, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000. Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday in Post Church of Christ with Paul D. Jones, minister, officiating. Burial was in Terrace Cemetery by Justice-Mason Funeral Home. Mr. Duncan was born in Trent and attended schools in Eskota and Trent. In 1958, he moved to Post, where he owned Dairy Hart and later owned and operated Duncan's. He also worked for Postex Cotton Mill and drove a school bus for Post Independent School District. He was a member of Post Church, where he served as deacon and elder. He married Vivian Gordon in 1939 at Merkel. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie McKay of Clayton, N.M.; a brother, Earl Duncan of Plano; a sister, Clarice Blankenship of Hamlin; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News Nov. 27, 2000 Tom Warren PLAINVIEW - Tom Warren, 77, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Chapel with David Milstead, deacon of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. Warren was born in Plainview, where he attended schools. During World War II, he served with the Army at Normandy and Omaha Beaches. After the war, he worked around the country as a welder. In the early 1950s, he returned to Plainview and worked for Henry Robertson and H.A. Walker. A lifelong cowboy, he raised, trained and bred horses. In the late 1960s, he began to work as a painter and sculptor. He was a member of the Texas Artist Guild and past president of the Texas Cowboy Artist Association. In 1976, he was the Texas bicentennial representative to Philadelphia. He married Mary Nell Warren in 1966 at Plainview. She died in 1994. Survivors include two sons, Alan Warren of Athens and Mitch Warren of Granbury; three grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at the Llano Estacado Museum, 1900 W. Eighth. The family suggests memorials be to disabled, paralyzed American veterans. Amarillo Daily News Nov. 27, 2000 Lloyd Evans Sr. SHAMROCK - Lloyd Evans Sr., 84, formerly of Shamrock, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Evans was born in Elder, Colo., graduated from Shamrock High School in Shamrock and lived in Cisco. He worked for United Gas in Twitty, in civil service as a master aircraft mechanic at Childress Air Force Base and at Lone Star Gas. He retired in 1981. He married Sina Jane Westbrook in 1939 at Wheeler County. Survivors include his wife; a son, Lloyd Leo Evans Jr. of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bible Baptist Church, 10 Elm Ave., with Pastor Clark officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Taylor was born in Roaring Springs. He was a farmer and a member of Bible Baptist Church. He married Lily May Helvey in 1959 at Levelland. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Taylor of Lovelady and Steve Taylor of Dumas; a daughter, Tina Clark of Dumas; two brothers, John Taylor of Dumas and Jackie Taylor of Levelland; five sisters, Sally Perkins of Austin, Mary Patterson of Lubbock, and Laretta Bippes, Jeannie Parsons and Kathy Stewart, all of Dumas; and seven grandchildren. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery at Littlefield. Mrs. Durrett was born in Erath County. She worked for Muleshoe Area Medical Center and was a member of the New Covenant Church. She married Paul Lamar Durrett in 1931 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Larry Durrett of Lubbock; two daughters, Wanda Young of Denver and Barbara Mills of Lubbock; a brother, Wayne Sheek of Waynesville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Mrs. Rector was born in Brice and moved to the area in 1959 from Sterling, Colo. She worked as a cook for restaurants in Perryton and was a member of Key Heights Baptist Church. She married Arthur Darnell in 1944 at Memphis. He died in 1979. Survivors include four sons, Michael Darnell of Boles, Ark., William "Ben" Darnell of Perryton, Rocky Darnell of Walter, Ark., and Lee Darnell of Fowler, Kan.; two sisters, Vivian Gammel of Amarillo and Jessie Alston of Panhandle; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. May was born in May, Okla., and graduated from Spearman High School at Spearman in 1936. After graduating from West Texas State College in 1960, she taught in Borger and Plemons schools until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of the West Texas State University Alumni Association. She later moved to Pampa, where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She married J.F. May in 1936 at Stinnett. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Barbara Nichols and Martha Baggerman, both of Pampa; a son, Jerry Don May of Clarendon; a half sister, Joy Mitchell of Albuquerque, N.M.; a half brother, Harold Crooks of Spearman; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beavers was born in Clovis, N.M., and was a longtime resident of Parmer County. A homemaker, she worked in the Friona School cafeteria. She was a member of Tenth Street Church of Christ. She married Alfred Beavers in 1955 at Farwell. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kevin Beavers of Waco and Cameron Beavers of Friona; a brother, Roy Lee Hadley of Amarillo; five sisters, Lottie Bails of Texico, Margaret Hanson of Athens, Betty Freeman of Hereford, Carol Watson of Cranfills Gap, and Mary Shoemaker of Hico; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Baca was born in Vaughn, N.M., and moved to Spearman 38 years ago from Clovis, N.M. She was a homemaker and a Church of Christ member. She married Jose G. Baca in 1956 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1999. Survivors include six daughters, Molly Rivas of Littlefield, Vera Dominguez, Joann Chavez, Eva Espinosa and Julie Etchison, all of Spearman, and Florinda Anchondo of Ulysses, Kan.; a son, David Baca of Spearman; a sister, Inez Lopez of Vaughn; a brother, Felix Sandoval of Spearman; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with Monsignor Joseph Tash of Saint Thomas Catholic Church in Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., in Amarillo. Mr. Hendricks worked as a well service operator in oil fields of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles. A Catholic, he lived in Fritch for four years. He married Cathy Sander in 1974 at Canadian. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Angela Hendricks of Amarillo, Misty Hendricks of Borger, and Heather Hendricks of Fritch; four sons, Chris Hendricks, Justin Hendricks and Jeremy Hendricks, all of Borger, and Brad Hendricks of Amarillo; his mother, Elaine Hendricks of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Jeanne Guerreiro of Woodlands and Suzanne Armstrong of Oklahoma City; and two brothers, John Hendricks of Rumson, N.J., and Michael Hendricks of Arlington.
