She was a member of First Christian Church and the China Painting Club. She married Lester Glenn Newman Sr. in 1934 at Stroud, Okla. He died in 1991. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Phillis Ann Newman. Survivors include three daughters, Willa Joyce Braziel of Kaufman, Barbara Jeannette Fitch of White Deer and Melba Lucille "Suzy" Sirmans of Miami; two sons, Lester Glenn Newman Jr. of White Deer and Harold Lee "Bub" Newman of Mesquite; 15 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Simmons was born in Criner, Okla. She moved to McLean in 1941 from Borger. She married Claude Simmons in 1939 at Chickasha, Okla. They farmed together until 1946. He died in 1993. She owned and operated the Texaco service station in McLean and later the Dairi-O-Drive Inn restaurant. She retired in 1968. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Ted Simmons of McLean; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, P.O. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Corrina Kroeker in 1995 and Fliptian Patterson in 1999. Mr. McKinney was born in Lockney. He served in the Army during World War II. He went to work for W.T. Cain Motor Co. as a mechanic in 1946 and later worked for Maggard Nall Motor Co. He began working in the dairy business east of Plainview in 1952. He retired in 1986. He married Margaret Louis Yarbrough in 1946 at Plainview. She died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Mary McKinney of Plainview; a son, Ross McKinney of Laurel, Miss.; brother, Ray McKinney of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was a Baptist and a member of the Phillips Golden Eagles. He married Joe Earlene Atchley in 1947 at Borger. She died in 1999. He also was preceded in death by a son, Alton Wade Crook, in 1964. He married Margrett Irene Medaris in 1944 at Durant, Okla. She died in January. Survivors include a son, Kyle Moss of Borger; a brother, M.C. Arthur Keeter, who founded the J.A. Keeter Candy Co. They worked together in the candy business for nearly 20 years. She later was a homemaker and substitute teacher in the Amarillo Independent School District. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; and by a son, James Milton Keeter, in 1952. Mr. Ramirez was born in Pleasanton and moved to Amarillo in 1951. He served in the Army. He drove a sanitation truck for the city of Amarillo for 20 years, retiring in 1974. He married Maxine Martinez in 1945 at Pleasanton. She died in 1983. He also was preceded in death by a son, Mike Gonzales, in 1970. Survivors include a sister, Agnes Boyer of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Woody Hicks of Amarillo and Glenn Hicks of Dothan, Ala.; and two sisters-inlaw, including her caregiver, Lucille Hicks of Canyon. "Hi" Jenkins, 79, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Boyd, pastor, and the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Jenkins was born in Clayton and was a longtime resident. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1939 and attended New Mexico State University at Las Cruces for two years. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. After the war he worked with his father at Jenkins Hardware. He also worked at the billiard hall known as "The Office," where he was a noted snooker player. He and his wife later ranched in the Mount Dora and Seneca area. He married Ada Lu Kimble in 1942. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Wight of Stratford, Texas; two sons, Ron Jenkins of Los Lunas and Dr. Michael Jenkins of Clayton; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Sept. 27, 2000 Oklahoma Jesse William Clark TEXHOMA, Okla. - Jesse William Clark, 90, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in James Church of God with the Rev. Donnie Callaway, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mr. Clark was born in Flat, Mo. He moved to the Texhoma area in 1925 from Phelps County, Mo. He farmed and ranched until retiring in 1975. He was named Chapter Farmer by the Texhoma FFA in the 1960s and was honored as Outstanding Conservationist by the Texas County Conservation District in the early 1970s. He was a member of the James Church of God. He married Mary Jane Thrasher in 1935 at Syracuse, Kan. Survivors include his wife; and three sisters, Violet Clark, Reba Macormic and Wanda Bunch, all of Guymon. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery at Lipscomb by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck. Mr. Meller was born near Follett. He graduated from Darrouzett High School in 1941. He farmed near Follett and later worked as a mechanic in Canadian. He moved in 1957 to Higgins, where he worked for Barton Motor Co. for 17 years. He also worked 15 years for John Deere Implement Co., retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lipscomb and later joined Christ Lutheran Church in Shattuck. He married Betty Jo Weeks in 1945 at Arnett, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Meller of Wellington and Ray Meller of Hamlin, N.Y.; a daughter, Karen Crow of Holyrood, Kan.; a brother, Abe Meller of Enid, Okla.; two sisters, Lottie Koch of Lipscomb and Carrie Koch of Clifton, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.
